Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Skoda Octavia 1Z5 car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

REPLACEMENT: WHEEL BEARING ­ SKODA OCTAVIA 1Z5. USE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.

Remove the wheel.

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.

Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.

Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: wheel bearing ­ Skoda Octavia 1Z5. Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.
Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.
Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.

Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.

Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use XZN #14. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.

Remove the caliper bracket.

Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use an impact screwdriver.

Remove the brake disc.

Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.

Replacement: wheel bearing ­ Skoda Octavia 1Z5. Tip from AUTODOC:
Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps.

Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use XZN #16. Use a tap wrench.

Remove the fastening bolt.

Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.

Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.

Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.

Install the fastening bolt.

Tighten the hub. Use XZN #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 180 Nm torque.+180°

Replacement: wheel bearing ­ Skoda Octavia 1Z5. Tip:
The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin. Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.

Install the hub bearing protection cap. Use a rubber mallet.

Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk. Use copper grease.

Install the brake disc.

Tighten the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 4 nm torque.

Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: wheel bearing ­ Skoda Octavia 1Z5. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.

Install the brake caliper bracket.

Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use XZN #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.+90°

Install the brake pads.

Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive

socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Install the wheel.

wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
