LinkRunner® AT 3000
Network & Cable Tester
Link-Live™ Next Generation Copper and Fiber Ethernet AutoTester
Overview
The LinkRunner AT 3000 is designed for frontline technicians requiring fast and comprehensive validation of copper and fiber network links, coupled with powerful network connectivity troubleshooting. It offers the core functions of its predecessors, the LinkRunner AT 1000 and 2000, but features a larger touchscreen and an in-depth AutoTest for enhanced network visibility. Its quick cable test and switch identification capabilities facilitate installation validation and rapid problem isolation. Test results can be automatically uploaded to the Link-Live collaboration, reporting, and analysis platform to improve teamwork between network engineers and technicians, providing greater job visibility, better project control, and improved tester fleet management. An independent management plane, accessible via wired or Wi-Fi connection (with an optional adapter), allows for remote operation and result uploading independently of the network under test.
Key Features
- Comprehensive AutoTest validates and troubleshoots all aspects of network link connectivity and services, including DHCP and DNS.
- Verifies link speed/duplex for 10/100 Mbps and 1 Gbps, with detection of NBASE-T and Multigigabit 2.5G, 5G, and 10 Gbps links.
- Discovers the nearest connected switch name and port information via CDP/LLDP/EDP, including VLANs; monitors VLAN trunk traffic.
- Validates Power over Ethernet (PoE) switching and cabling up to 90W 802.3bt with TruePower™ loading.

LinkRunner AT 3000 Testing Applications
AutoTest and Profiles
AutoTest is the most comprehensive testing application, capable of performing full network link connectivity tests in as little as 7 seconds. It is fully customizable with savable test profiles and reusable Test Targets. Multiple profiles can be grouped for single-button validation across all VLANs. AutoTest results are automatically uploaded to the Link-Live platform upon claiming the device. Key tests include:
- TruePower™ test validates loaded PoE performance up to 90W.
- Link speed and duplex detection (up to 10 Gbps), with warnings for negotiated speeds lower than advertised.
- 802.1x authentication.
- Nearest switch/slot/port discovery.
- VLAN identification and traffic monitoring.
- DHCP service testing, including options and response time breakdown.
- DNS test measuring response time for actual URL lookups.
- Gateway availability and responsiveness.
- Ping or TCP port connectivity tests to user-defined targets.
Visual Description: The 'AutoTest Screen' shows a summary of network link status, speed, duplex, PoE, and connectivity test results.
Switch Test
This test identifies the nearest connected switch and critical configuration information using LLDP, CDP, and EDP protocols. It displays the switch name, model, chassis, slot, and port number, along with the switch MAC/IP address, supported VLANs, link speed and duplex (up to 10 Gbps), connection type (MDI or MDI/X), and PoE voltage/power (loaded and unloaded). A graphical representation of PoE power on pairs is also provided.
Visual Description: The 'Switch Screen' displays detailed information about the connected network switch, including its name, port, speed, and PoE status.
Cable Test
This function validates cabling for proper termination, tests for length, common miswires (shorts, opens, mis-wires, split pairs), and determines the distance to faults. It supports testing structured cabling via the top RJ-45 port and patch cables using the built-in second RJ-45 port for pin-to-pin mapping and TDR. Cable runs can be located using analog and IntelliTone™ toning, switch port advertisement, switch port link light blinking, or optional WireView cable identifiers.
Visual Description: The 'Cable Test Screen' shows results of cable diagnostics, including wiremap, length, and fault detection.
Ping/TCP Test
This application verifies connectivity to on- or off-network devices and ensures TCP port availability. A Ping test sends ICMP echo requests to determine reachability and response time, with options for MTU testing and frame size settings. Results are trended over 24 hours. A TCP Connect test opens a TCP connection using a 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN/ACK, ACK) to test port availability. This app can be accessed from the Home screen or initiated from other apps like AutoTest.
Visual Description: The 'TCP Connect Screen' illustrates the process of establishing a TCP connection to a target device, showing handshake status.
Link-Live™ Collaboration, Reporting, and Analysis Platform
Link-Live serves as a central system for managing test results and devices, streamlining workflows through easy logging, documenting, and reporting of test activities. When a tester is connected, results are automatically uploaded to the dashboard for project management and reporting. For air-gapped networks or new construction, results are buffered until connectivity is established. Users can upload additional files, screenshots, images, profiles, location information, and comments. LinkRunner AT 3000 testers with AllyCare Premium Support can also receive firmware updates directly from Link-Live.
- AutoTest results uploaded via Link-Live platform for analysis and reporting.
- Improves collaboration with web remote control (requires AllyCare Premium Support).
- Over-the-air software updates (requires AllyCare Premium Support).
- Easily provides proof-of-performance.
- Enhances project and staff efficiency management.
- Secure remote control enables centralized experts to assist field technicians.
Visual Description: The 'Link-Live App Screen' and 'Link-Live Dashboard' show interfaces for managing test results, devices, and collaboration features.
Reflector
The LinkRunner AT 3000 offers a packet reflector mode, enabling end-to-end network performance tests when used with other NetAlly tools (e.g., LinkRunner 10G, EtherScope nXG, CyberScope CE). This mode validates network throughput capabilities up to 1 Gbps and supports 1G LANBERTTM media qualification testing. The line rate reflector allows control over packet types and swapping of source/destination MAC and IP addresses for L3 performance testing.
Visual Description: The 'Reflector Screen' displays configuration options for packet reflection mode.
Wi-Fi Connectivity Support
Wi-Fi connectivity is supported via an optional USB Wi-Fi adapter. This enables on-the-go uploading of test results to Link-Live, web remote control (requires AllyCare Premium Support), and basic Wi-Fi diagnostics using third-party applications.
Additional Tools and Diagnostics
After registering the tester, users can download additional applications from the Link-Live app store to perform various tasks beyond basic testing. These include using the system web browser to connect to infrastructure elements, taking pictures or scanning asset tags for documentation, identifying available Wi-Fi networks, printing ID labels, and managing trouble tickets.
Visual Description: Sections labeled 'Configuration', 'Testing', 'Documentation', 'Collaboration', and 'Examples of apps available' illustrate the device's versatility and the types of applications that can be downloaded.
