HYTOBP P8 Drone: Mobile App Operation Guide
This guide provides instructions for operating the HYTOBP P8 drone using its dedicated mobile application.
1. App Installation
To begin, install the mobile application on your device. Scan the provided QR codes for Apple iOS and Android to download the app.

2. Drone and WiFi Connection
Follow these steps to connect your mobile device to the drone:
- Turn on the drone's power switch.
- On your mobile phone, navigate to the WiFi settings.
- Search for and connect to the drone's WiFi hotspot. The network name will be in the format "M_XX_***/HF_XX***/WIFIXX-***". Connection is manual and does not require a password.
Once connected, open the downloaded app to access its functions.
3. App Interface Overview
The app features several key interfaces:
Main Interface
Displays connection status and access to settings.
- Not connected to WiFi: Indicates the drone is not yet connected.
- WiFi settings: Access network configuration options.
- Settings: General app and drone settings.
Startup Interface
This screen allows you to initiate flight operations:
- Start the flight: Begins the flight sequence.
- Enter Setup mode: Access configuration and calibration options.
- Flight mode: Select different flight behaviors.
4. Flight and Control Functions
The app offers a variety of functions for controlling the drone and capturing media:
- Gravity mode: Control drone movement by tilting your device.
- Rolling: Perform barrel rolls.
- Gesture (Photo / Video): Use hand gestures to trigger photo or video recording.
- Camera switching: Switch between different camera views.
- Following mode: The drone tracks a selected subject.
- Picture-in-Picture mode: View multiple camera feeds simultaneously.
- Palm-controlled flight: Control the drone by moving your hand.
- Panoramic photo: Capture wide-angle photos.
- Split screen mode: Display camera feed in a split view.
- Headless mode: Simplify flight control by aligning drone orientation with the remote.
- Trajectory flight: Draw a flight path on the screen for the drone to follow.
- Mirror flip: Invert the video feed.
- Menu: Access additional options.
- Calibration: Calibrate the drone's sensors.
- Speed: Adjust flight speed.
- Folder: Access saved media.
- Photo: Take a still photograph.

5. Advanced Features Explained
Palm-controlled Flight
To activate Palm-controlled flight:
- Click the Palm-controlled flight button in the app.
- Face the drone's camera and raise your palm vertically, parallel to the camera.
- A red box will appear around your palm on the app screen, indicating recognition.
- Move your palm gently up and down; the drone will follow your movement.
For optimal control, maintain a distance of approximately [distance] meters between your palm and the drone's camera.
Gesture Visual Mode
This mode allows hand gestures to control photo and video capture:
- Click the Gesture visual mode button.
- Gesture for Photo: Hold one hand horizontally within [distance] to [distance] meters in front of the drone's camera. Upon recognition, a countdown begins for taking a photo.
- Gesture for Video: Raise one hand horizontally within [distance] to [distance] meters in front of the camera. When recognized, video recording starts. A second recognition of the gesture stops the recording.
Picture-in-Picture Mode
In this mode, you can view real-time video feeds from the drone's cameras simultaneously. After activating Picture-in-Picture mode, the video from the lower lens and the front lens will be displayed together. You can switch the size of these preview images by tapping on them.
Entertainment Mode
This mode provides access to creative functions:
- Filter: Apply visual filters to the camera feed.
- Album: Access saved photos and videos.
- Remote control switch: Toggle remote control functions.
- Select music: Choose background music for videos.
- Back: Return to the previous screen.
- Rotate the screen: Adjust screen orientation.
- Photo: Take a photo.
- Video: Record video.
- Emergency stop: Halt drone operations.
- Left joystick: Virtual control.
- Right joystick: Virtual control.
Following Mode
This mode enables the drone to track a specific subject (humanoid or face recognition):
- Click the Following mode button on the main interface.
- The app defaults to humanoid/face recognition mode. You can switch between these modes if available.
- A green box will appear on the screen to identify the target. Use your finger to select the person you wish the drone to follow.
- If multiple people are present, you can select any one.
- If the selected target leaves the screen, the drone will automatically track the nearest person.
- If no target is visible, the drone enters a waiting mode and will resume following when a target reappears.
