Introduction

This document provides a quick start guide for the BlackVue ELITE8 series dashcams. It covers essential information for installation, operation, product specifications, and compliance.

Note on included accessories:

  • For 2CH models (ELITE8-2CH, ELITE8-2CH IR, ELITE8-2CH Truck, ELITE8-2CH Pro, ELITE8-2CH Plus, DR800 GOLD PRO-2CH), all accessories (1-11) are provided.
  • For 1CH models (ELITE8-1CH, ELITE8-1CH Pro, ELITE8-1CH Plus, DR800 GOLD PRO-1CH), accessories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 are provided. The rear camera is an optional accessory for 1CH users.

At a Glance

This section describes the main parts of the BlackVue dashcam.

Front Camera

Description of Front Camera Diagram: The front camera unit features a PUSH button, a Camera lens, a Mounting bracket, and a Speaker. It also has indicators labeled A) Recording LED and C) APP/Cloud.

Connectivity Details Label: This label typically includes the Default Wi-Fi SSID, Default Wi-Fi password, Cloud code, and a QR code for connectivity information. It also shows the Serial number label.

Touch Sensor: Located on the dashcam, this sensor can be pressed to trigger a manual recording. It can be enabled or disabled in the firmware settings.

Rear Camera (2CH Only)

The rear camera connects via a dedicated port. It has a Mounting bracket and a Vout port (for front camera connection). A Rear security LED indicates recording status.

Installation and Power Up

Installation Steps:

  1. Install the front camera behind the rear-view mirror.
  2. Install the rear camera at the top of the back windshield. Ensure the windshield is clean and dry before installation.
  3. Note: Remove the protective film from both front and rear cameras to prevent overheating damage.
  4. Warning: Do not install the product where it obstructs the driver's field of vision.
  5. A. microSD Card Installation: Turn off the engine. Open the microSD card slot cover, insert the card until it locks, and close the cover.
  6. B. Front Camera Mounting: Peel off the protective film from the double-sided tape and attach the front camera to the windshield behind the rear-view mirror.
  7. C. Lens Adjustment: Adjust the front camera's lens angle by rotating its body. A slight downward angle (approximately 10° below horizontal) is recommended for a balanced view of the road and background.
  8. D. Rear Camera Mounting: Peel off the protective film from the double-sided tape and attach the rear camera to the rear windshield. Adjust its lens angle by rotating the body.
  9. E. Camera Connection: Connect the front camera ('Rear' port) to the rear camera ('V out') using the provided rear camera connection cable.
  10. F. Cable Management: Use the pry tool to lift the edges of the rubber window sealing and molding, then tuck in the rear camera connection cable neatly.
  11. G. Connectivity Module (Optional): Connect the connectivity module to the front camera and attach it to the window edge, tucking the cable with the pry tool.
  12. H. Power Connection (Cigarette Lighter): Plug the cigarette lighter power cable into the vehicle's socket and connect it to the front camera. (Skip to L for Hardwiring setup).
  13. I. Power Cord Management: Use the pry tool to lift windshield trim/molding and tuck in the power cord.
  14. J. Power On: Turn on the engine. The BlackVue dashcam will power up and begin recording. Video files are stored on the microSD card.

Hardwiring Power Cable Setup:

  • L-2. Ground Connection: Connect the GND cable to a metal ground bolt.
  • M. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the DC in terminal of the front camera. The BlackVue dashcam will power up and start recording.

Note on First Use: When the dashcam is run for the first time, the firmware is automatically loaded onto the microSD card. After firmware loading, settings can be customized using the BlackVue Viewer on a computer.

CAUTION (Battery Safety)

  • Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
  • Do not ingest battery; it can cause chemical burns.
  • Contains a coin/button cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in 2 hours and lead to death. Keep batteries away from children.
  • If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. Seek immediate medical attention if batteries are swallowed or placed inside the body.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire, hot ovens, or crush/cut them; this can result in an explosion.
  • High temperatures or extremely low air pressure can cause explosions or leakage of flammable liquid/gas.

  • Changes/modifications not expressly approved by the responsible party could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
  • It is desirable that the equipment be installed and operated with at least 20cm separation between the radiator and a person's body.
