Safety & Warranty Information

Important Safety Information

This section provides crucial operational and safety information for the safe use of your phone. Failure to read and follow these guidelines may lead to serious bodily injury, death, or property damage.

General Precautions

Several simple guidelines ensure proper phone operation and safe, satisfactory service:

Note: For optimal phone care, only Kyocera-authorized personnel should service the phone and its accessories. Unauthorized service may be dangerous and void the warranty.

Maintaining Safe Use of and Access to Your Phone

Do Not Rely on Your Phone for Emergency Calls

Mobile phones use radio signals, which do not guarantee connection in all conditions. Therefore, do not rely solely on any mobile phone for essential communication, such as medical emergencies. Emergency calls may not be possible on all cellular networks or when certain network services or mobile phone features are active. Consult your local service provider for details.

Using Your Phone While Driving

Talking on your phone while driving (or operating it without a hands-free device) is prohibited in some jurisdictions. Laws vary, so always prioritize safety.

Following Safety Guidelines

To operate your phone safely and efficiently, always adhere to special regulations in any given area. Turn off your phone where use is forbidden or when it might cause interference or danger.

Medical Devices

If you have an implantable medical device, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, consult your healthcare provider and the device manufacturer's instructions before using this mobile phone.

For persons with implantable medical devices:

Using Your Phone Near Other Electronic Devices

Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from radio frequency (RF) signals. However, RF signals from wireless phones may affect inadequately shielded electronic equipment.

RF signals can affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating or entertainment systems in motor vehicles. Consult the manufacturer or their representative to determine if these systems are adequately shielded from external RF signals. Also, check with the manufacturer regarding any added vehicle equipment.

Consult the manufacturer of personal medical devices, such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and hearing aids, to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF signals.

Note: When using the phone in and near healthcare facilities, always determine the facility's policy regarding cell phone usage and request permission before using the phone near medical equipment.

Using Your Phone On Airplanes

On airplanes, follow applicable airline regulations and flight crew instructions concerning phone use.

Turning Off Your Phone in Dangerous Areas

To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn off your phone in blasting areas or other areas with signs indicating two-way radios should be turned off. Construction crews often use remote-control RF devices to set off explosives.

Turn off your phone in any potentially explosive atmosphere. Although rare, connecting or disconnecting accessories can generate sparks, potentially causing an explosion or fire, leading to bodily injury or death. These areas are often, but not always, clearly marked. They include:

Note: Never transport or store flammable gas, flammable liquids, or explosives in the vehicle compartment containing your phone or accessories.

Note: Your phone complies with the Standards for Hazardous Location Equipment. Refer to the section “Using Your Phone in Hazardous Locations” for details.

Using Your Phone in Hazardous Locations

Your phone complies with the Standards for Hazardous Location Equipment as Nonincendive Electrical Equipment for use in a Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, & D with a Temperature Code of T4.

Precautions

Detecting Damage

If you suspect any compromise to your phone's safety, immediately stop operation and remove it from the hazardous location. Examples where phone safety may be impaired include:

WARNING: EXPLOSION HAZARD—SUBSTITUTION OF COMPONENTS MAY IMPAIR SUITABILITY FOR USE IN CLASS I, DIVISION 2.

CAUTION: Inspect equipment after any drops and return it to its original condition. If equipment cannot be returned to its original condition, it must be removed from use in hazardous (classified) locations.

CAUTION: RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE. USE ONLY BATTERY MODEL SCP-76LBPS. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Equipment Ratings and Capabilities

This equipment is not intended for outdoor installation.

Enclosure Water Ingress Rating: IPX4, IPX5, IPX8. The IP rating applies to the enclosure. The electrical safety of the product was not certified under these conditions.

CAUTION: Damage to the battery presents a risk of fire or chemical burn. Do not crush, smash, or puncture the phone. Do not expose to temperatures above 60°C/140°F or incinerate.

The product is ETL Listed by Intertek, with certification number 4009869, conforming to UL Std. 121201 & UL Std. 62368-1. The ETL mark can also be found via the Settings menu: Swipe up on the Home screen and tap Settings > About phone > Compliance information.

Restricting Children's Access to Your Phone

Your phone is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with it, as they could hurt themselves or others, damage the phone, or make calls that may increase your monthly bill.

Waterproof Capability

Your phone is waterproof and meets IPX4, IPX5, and IPX8 standards, immersible for up to 30 minutes at a depth not exceeding two meters (about 6.56 feet). Exposing your phone to water outside these limits or not following precautions can result in water damage.

To ensure your phone maintains waterproof capability, observe the following precautions:

If your phone gets wet:

Water in the phone's open microphone and speaker ports may temporarily affect outbound audio quality and speaker performance. These conditions will subside once the phone is dry.

Using Your Phone With a Hearing Aid and Cochlear Implants

This phone is hearing aid compatible, tested and certified to IEEE/ANSI C63.19-2011 with an M4 and a T4 rating.

FCC hearing aid compatibility rules require certain phones to be tested and certified under the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) / American National Standard Institute (ANSI) C63.19 hearing-aid compatibility standards. The IEEE/ANSI standard C63.19-2011 was developed to provide a standardized means of measuring both wireless phone and hearing devices (including hearing aids and cochlear implants) to determine usability rating categories.

The IEEE/ANSI C63.19-2011 standard for hearing aid compatibility contains two types of ratings:

M-Ratings

Indicates the RF interference level from the phone to a hearing device when used in acoustic coupling mode. Ratings are M1 through M4, where M1 has the most interference and M4 has the least. For FCC HAC compliance, a phone must have an M3 or M4 rating.

T-Ratings

Indicates the inductive coupling capability of the phone to a hearing device in telecoil mode. Ratings are T1 through T4, where T1 provides the least coupling and T4 provides the most. For FCC HAC compliance, a phone must have a T3 or T4 rating.

These ratings are not guarantees; results vary based on the user's hearing device and the individual's type and degree of hearing loss. When some wireless phones are used with certain hearing devices, users may detect noise that interferes with the hearing device's effectiveness.

If a hearing device is particularly vulnerable to interference noise, even a phone with a higher rating may still cause unacceptable noise levels. Trying out the phone in different locations and using its features with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for personal needs.

Hearing aids may also be tested for immunity to interference noise from wireless phones and should have similar ratings. Ask your hearing healthcare professional for your hearing aid's rating. To determine probable usability, add the rating of your hearing aid and your phone:

For example, an M3 hearing aid paired with an M3 phone yields a combined rating of six for Models: V65E7200, V65E7200 e7200, DuraForce Pro3, DuraForce Pro3 Smartphone, Smartphone
