1.3. Overview of Parts and Controls
The scale's terminal unit features a front housing (Item 1) with a control panel (Item 2) containing two buttons and an LCD display. The rear of the terminal shows a load cell cable connector (Item 3) and a power port (Item 4).
1.4. Control Functions
The control panel displays two buttons labeled 'On/Zero Off' and 'Units/Hold Cal'.
- On/Zero/Off Button:
- Primary Function (Short Press): Turns the scale on if off. Zeros the display if the weight is ≤ 2% of capacity. Sets tare weight if the weight is > 2% of capacity. During calibration, captures zero and linearity points. In Display Hold mode, clears the displayed reading.
- Secondary Function (Long Press): Turns the scale off if on.
- Units/Hold/Cal Button:
- Primary Function (Short Press): Enters/exits hold mode. Changes the weighing unit.
- Secondary Function (Long Press): Pressing both buttons simultaneously enters calibration mode.
Note: Short Press: Press the key less than 3 seconds. Long Press: Press and hold the key for more than 3 seconds.
The LCD display shows various indicators: 'NET' for net weight, a stable weight symbol (*), a negative weight symbol, a display hold symbol (o), a battery status indicator, a center of zero symbol (▶0◀), and unit indicators for kilograms (kg) and pounds (lb).
2. Installation
2.1 Packing List
Item | Description | Picture | Quantity |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Base | [Scale Base Image] | 1 |
2 | Terminal | [Scale Terminal Image] | 1 |
3 | Coiled cable | [Coiled Cable Image] | 1 |
4 | AC adapter | [AC Adapter Image] | 1 |
2.2 Unpacking the Scale
- Take out documents and the AC adapter, setting them aside.
- Remove the foam blocks from the packaging.
- Carefully remove the Courier 3000 scale from the box and place it on a stable surface.
2.3 Setup
2.3.1 Power Supply Connection
AC Adapter Power:
- Connect the AC Adapter to the terminal.
- Plug the AC Adapter into an electrical outlet.
Dry Battery Power: The scale can be powered by 3 disposable AA size dry batteries (not included). Install batteries in the battery compartment.
2.3.2 Direct Wall Mounting
The terminal can be mounted directly to a wall or table using two screws (not included). Select appropriate screw sizes for the holes at the bottom of the terminal housing. For mounting to a wall without solid backing, use suitable anchoring hardware. (See Figure A for Direct Wall Mount Arrangement, showing dimensions of 112mm / 4.4" for mounting screw placement).
2.4 Leveling the Equipment
Place the scale on a firm, stable, flat surface, avoiding excessive airflow, vibration, heat sources, or rapid temperature changes. Rotate the scale feet for leveling, if applicable (for L-shaped bases only).
3. Operation
3.1 Turning On/Off the Scale
To turn on the scale, short press the 'On/Zero' button. The scale will display the software version and enter weighing mode. To turn off the scale, long press the 'Off' button until 'OFF' is displayed.
3.2 Setting the Display to Zero
The display can be zeroed in several cases:
- Upon turning on, the scale performs an initial zero.
- If the weight on the platform is less than or equal to 2% of the capacity, a short press of the 'On/Zero' button will zero the display.
- If the weight on the platform is greater than 2% of the capacity, a short press of the 'On/Zero' button will set the tare weight, and the display will show '0'.
Ensure the scale is stable before pressing 'On/Zero' to set the display value.
3.3 Changing the Units of Measure
To change the weighing unit, long press the 'Units/Hold' button until the desired unit appears on the display.
3.4 Calibration
3.4.1 Linear calibration
The scale performs linearity calibration using three points: zero calibration (no load), mid calibration point, and full calibration point (with loads).
Calibration Procedures:
- After powering on, simultaneously long press the 'Units/Hold' and 'On/Zero' buttons until 'CAL' appears on the display.
- Release both buttons.
- Short press the 'On/Zero' button. The display will show '-C-', indicating zero calibration is in progress (do not place any weight on the platform).
Upon completion of zero calibration, the display will show "C XXX kg" or "C XXX lb". Specific readings for different models are:
- C31M35R: 10 kg (20 lb)
- C31M75R: 25 kg (50 lb)
- C31M75L: 25 kg (50 lb)
- C31M200R: 100 kg (200 lb)
- C31M200L: 100 kg (200 lb)
- Place the required calibration load on the platform.
- Short press the 'On/Zero' button. The display will show '-C-', indicating midpoint calibration is in progress.
Upon completion of midpoint calibration, the display will show "C XXX kg" or "C XXX lb". Specific readings for different models are:
- C31M35R: 30 kg (60 lb)
- C31M75R: 75 kg (150 lb)
- C31M75L: 75 kg (150 lb)
- C31M200R: 200 kg (400 lb)
- C31M200L: 200 kg (400 lb)
- Place the required calibration load on the platform.
- Short press the 'On/Zero' button. The display will show '-C-', indicating top range calibration is in progress.
NOTE:
- When calibration is complete, the display returns to weighing mode.
- If the display shows 'CAL E' and exits calibration, it indicates calibration failure.
3.5 Application Modes
3.5.1 Weighing
This is the default factory setting for determining load weights. To begin weighing:
- Place a weight on the scale. Once the value is stable, the stable weight symbol (*) will appear on the display.
- If using a container, place the empty container on the platform. The display will show the container's weight. Once stable, the stable weight symbol (*) will appear.
- To capture the container's weight (tare), press the 'On/Zero' key. Once stable, the display will reset to zero, and the stable weight symbol (*) will appear.
- Fill the container as needed. The net weight of the contents will be displayed. Once stable, the stable weight symbol (*) will appear.
3.5.2 Display Hold
In Display Hold mode, the instrument retains the displayed weight if it is greater than 5 divisions. To activate:
- Short press the 'Units/Hold' button.
- Place a load on the platform. When the weight is stable and greater than 5d, the display will show the hold symbol (o), and the weight will remain even after the load is removed. This is useful for large boxes.
- To clear the held weight and exit Display Hold mode, short press the 'On/Zero' key. The display will then show the current weight on the platform.
NOTE: After zeroing, the display will resume capturing the first stable weight reading greater than 5d.
