The sensitivity can be adjusted via DIP switch settings (refer to section 2-3). Options include 'Low', 'Middle' (default), and 'High'. 'Low' may be less effective with certain materials or colors.
Installation
1-1. Disassemble
- Unlock the cover: Turn the locking screw 180 degrees.
- Open the cover: Gently open the detector cover.
- Remove the terminal block: Pull the two stoppers alternately to detach the terminal block. Note: The terminal block does not need to be removed if it does not interfere with base mounting.
1-2. Wall Mount Without Bracket
Wiring
- Wire through the base: Use wiring knockouts for wall/corner mounting.
- Surface wiring: Route wires through the upper or lower knockouts.
- Hidden wiring: Route wires discreetly.
Breaking Knockouts
Refer to the diagrams for instructions on how to break the knockouts for wiring.
Mounting the Base
- Wall Mount: Use the designated mounting holes.
- Corner Mount: Use the designated mounting holes.
- Tamper Protection: Additional holes are provided for tamper protection. If the device is removed from its mounting position, a brown colored part will remain on the wall, activating the tamper switch.
1-3. Wall Mount With Bracket
Wiring and Mounting
- Punch out 3 knockout guides to create a wiring hole.
- Route wires through the knockout hole. Note: Refer to page 5 for instructions on breaking knockouts.
- Caution: Ensure the mounting surface is even to guarantee proper tamper function.
Joining and Fixing the Base
- Join the base onto the bracket using 3 joint screws.
- Fix the base to the bracket using 2 fixing screws. Additional fixing holes are available for stronger fixation.
- Note: Adjust the detection direction during jointing. A walk test is required.
- Note: 2 fixing screws are required for Grade 2 and higher installations.
1-4. Ceiling Mount With Bracket
Changing Bracket for Ceiling Mounting
- Remove the fixing screw and anchor.
- Rotate the body.
- Insert the anchor and tighten the fixing screw.
Wiring and Mounting on Ceiling
Wiring to Terminal Block
- Connect wires to the terminal block: SP (Spare), TR (Trouble), COM (Common), AL (Alarm), TP (Tamper), TP (Tamper), LED (Remote LED).
- Attach the terminal block to the base by inserting its protrusions into the corresponding holes.
Power Cable Length
The power cable length should be limited according to the wire gauge and voltage:
Wire Gauge | 12 V DC | 14 V DC |
---|---|---|
AWG 22 (0.33 mm²) | 270 m (890 ft.) | 590 m (1,940 ft.) |
AWG 20 (0.52 mm²) | 430 m (1,410 ft.) | 940 m (3,080 ft.) |
AWG 18 (0.83 mm²) | 690 m (2,260 ft.) | 1,490 m (4,890 ft.) |
Wiring to Tamper Switch (IR-D-CW-G3)
Follow the diagram to wire to the tamper switch, twisting and swaging the wires.
Settings
2-1. Wide/Narrow Setting
- Remove the main unit: Open the hooked part as indicated by red arrows.
- Change Flip Lens: Replace the lens from 'Wide' to 'Narrow'.
Note: Install the lens ensuring letters on the cover and lens match. Changing the lens automatically switches the internal circuit between Narrow and Wide.
How to Remove/Install Lens
- To remove, get over the rib and pull up the lens. A flat head screwdriver may be used if difficult. Caution: Be careful not to damage the lens.
- To install, push the lens firmly at 3 points in numerical order.
Note: When the lens is set to 'Narrow', MW detection is automatically disabled.
2-3. EOL Settings
Select between using the EOL (End Of Line) resistor socket for the PEU or processing lead wires of resistors.
- [1] PEU: Plug-in End of line resistor Unit: Connect the PEU to the socket. Align triangle marks.
- [2] Processing lead wires of the resistors: Strip wires to 20-22 mm. Push and bend the lead wire so resistors fit in the case.
2-3. DIP Switch Settings
- LED: Switch 1 controls LED activation. 'ON' activates always. 'OFF' allows control via the Remote LED terminal (certified to EN when set to 'OFF').
- PIR Sensitivity: Settings include Low, Middle*, High*, Super High*. (*Certified to EN).
- Anti-masking Sensitivity: Settings include OFF, Low, Middle, High*. (*Certified to EN).
- PIR MW LED: Switch 6 controls PIR and MW LED indications. 'OFF' disables them (IR-D-P3E complies EN50131-2-4 when set to 'OFF').
2-4. Volume Setting
Adjusts Microwave sensitivity with settings for Low, Middle, and High.
2-5. Down Zone ON/OFF
This setting controls the 'Down zone'. It is set to 'OFF' by default. It must be set to 'ON' for Grade 3.
Checking
3-1. Walk Test
- Confirm the LED switch is 'ON' and close the cover.
- Walk within the detection area to check performance via LED indication.
- Return the LED switch to 'OFF' after the walk test, if necessary.
- Lock the cover securely.
Note: Conduct a walk test at least once a year.
