The Keychron K5 Pro is a versatile 96% layout mechanical keyboard designed for both productivity and gaming. It offers a compact yet full-featured typing experience with advanced customization options, including hot-swappable switches and customizable RGB backlighting.

Connectivity Modes

The K5 Pro supports two primary connection modes for flexibility:

Wired Mode (USB)

Connect the keyboard to your computer using the included USB Type-C cable. This mode provides a stable connection and also charges the keyboard's internal battery.

Wireless Mode (Bluetooth)

Pair the keyboard with up to three devices via Bluetooth 5.1. A dedicated switch on the keyboard allows for easy toggling between paired devices.

Switching Between Wired and Wireless:

To Wired: Connect the USB Type-C cable to the keyboard and your device.
To Wireless: Slide the switch on the back of the keyboard to the Bluetooth icon (BT).

Bluetooth Pairing Process:

Ensure the keyboard's switch is set to BT mode.
Press and hold Fn + 1 (or Fn + 2, Fn + 3) for approximately 3 seconds to enter pairing mode for the respective device slot. The indicator light will flash to confirm.
On your computer or mobile device, search for Bluetooth devices and select "Keychron K5 Pro" to connect.
Repeat steps 2-3 for additional devices using the other Fn + Number combinations (Fn + 2, Fn + 3).
To switch between paired devices, simply press the corresponding Fn + Number combination (Fn + 1, Fn + 2, or Fn + 3).

Key Functionality & Shortcuts

The K5 Pro offers several function layers and convenient shortcuts to enhance productivity:

Function Layer (Fn)

Press and hold the Fn key to access the secondary functions printed on the keycaps, such as media controls and system functions.

Common Shortcuts:

Fn + S: Switch between Windows and macOS operating system modes.
Fn + Tab: Toggle between wired and wireless connection modes.
Fn + 1/2/3: Switch between paired Bluetooth devices.
Fn + B: Check the current battery level.
Fn + L: Turn the backlight on or off.
Fn + Left Arrow: Decrease backlight brightness.
Fn + Right Arrow: Increase backlight brightness.
Fn + Up Arrow: Increase backlight effect speed.
Fn + Down Arrow: Decrease backlight effect speed.
Fn + W: Cycle through different backlight colors.
Fn + A: Cycle through various backlight effects.
Fn + Ctrl + Space: Reset the keyboard to factory default settings.
Media Keys (accessed via Fn + F1-F6): Play/Pause, Previous Track, Next Track, Mute, Volume Down, Volume Up.

Hot-swappable Switches

The Keychron K5 Pro is equipped with hot-swappable sockets, allowing users to easily change mechanical switches without the need for soldering. To replace a switch:

Ensure the keyboard is turned off.
Use a switch puller tool to carefully remove the existing switch from the socket.
Align the pins of the new switch with the socket and gently press it down until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight before insertion to avoid damage.
