Care & Cleaning

Periodic cleaning is the only maintenance needed. Use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Do not use water, as it can damage the motor or blades and pose an electrical shock risk. The motor has permanently lubricated ball bearings and requires no oil. This fan is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Do not allow children to play with the fan.

Wobble

Ceiling fans may move during operation due to mounting flexibility, which is normal and prevents excessive ceiling vibration. A movement of a couple of centimetres is acceptable and does not indicate a risk of the fan falling. Ceiling fans are securely mounted on steel brackets with rubber cushioning or ball joints. Note that wobble can vary between models.

To eliminate wobble, follow these steps, checking after each:

  1. Check that all blade brackets are tightened securely.
  2. Address inconsistent blade level: Measure the distance from each blade tip to the ceiling. Adjust brackets if measurements are inconsistent.
  3. Address deviations in distance from blade to blade: Measure the distance from blade tip to blade tip. Loosen screws connecting blades and brackets one at a time, shift the blade to the proper position, and re-tighten screws if measurements vary.

Normal Wear and Tear

Threaded components working loose or slightly bent blade carriers (due to vigorous cleaning or bumping) can cause extra wobble and noise. This is not covered under guarantee, but regular care can reduce or prevent it.

Bumps-in-the-Night

This is a common cause for service calls outside warranty. Fan faults are usually noticeable at all times. Small noises may be more apparent at night when it's quiet. Slight power fluctuations or mains frequency signals (e.g., for off-peak hot water control) can also cause changes in fan motor noise, which is normal.

Summer/Winter Operation

The fan has a reversing switch located inside the battery compartment, just above the battery housing.

  • "S" (Summer) position: Airflow directed downwards for cooling.
  • "W" (Winter) position: Airflow directed upwards to assist heating efficiency.

Turn the fan OFF before changing the switch position.

Assembly and Installation Instructions.

Note: This fan must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor. Improperly installed fans can be dangerous, expensive to repair, and will void the guarantee.

This fan is designed for indoor use only. Do not mount where the fan is subject to water or moisture.

The fan must be installed so that the blades are greater than 2.1 metres from the floor.

All wiring must comply with Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZ 3000.

The supplied fan blades are matched to minimize wobble. Do not mix blade sets if installing more than one fan.

Warning: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

Installation Steps

  1. Choose a location ensuring adequate clearance from objects and walls, with blade height greater than 2.1 metres from the floor.
  2. At the mounting position, check for a ceiling joist. If none, install a 50 x 100mm brace between joists. Secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling with four mounting screws and washers. If a safety cable is provided, anchor it securely to the supporting member or mounting bracket when wiring is complete. [Diagram Description: Shows mounting bracket components and placement on a ceiling joist.]
  3. Attach the light assembly to the main body. Clip connecting leads together, then align mounting holes with screw heads on the main body. Rotate clockwise to lock and tighten screws. Be careful not to damage exposed LED's. [Diagram Description: Shows light assembly attachment to the main body.]
  4. Prepare the downrod: Unscrew locating screws, slide the ball joint downwards, remove the pin, and push the ball joint out from the downrod. [Diagram Description: Shows downrod, ball joint, locating screw, and pin.]
  5. Feed the fan supply wires from the fan motor housing through the downrod, with the upper and lower canopy fitted. [Diagram Description: Shows downrod with wires being fed through.]
  6. Insert the ball joint pin into the downrod and fasten, following the reverse procedure from step 4.
  7. Attach the downrod to the fan motor housing: Remove the locating clip and support pin, loosen fixing screws, place the downrod into the motor housing collar, replace the support pin and locating clip, and fasten fixing screws. [Diagram Description: Shows downrod attachment to motor housing.]
  8. Hang the fan motor housing on the mounting bracket, ensuring the ball joint locating groove aligns with the notch on the mounting bracket. [Diagram Description: Shows fan motor housing being hung on bracket.]
