Device Description

The SKR unit features the following:

  • Connectors: DC IN, USB-B Connector (for PC connection), Power Supply Connector, Communications Connector (Female), Communications Connector (Male).
  • Controls: Push Button.
  • Indicators: Blue LED (indicates power connection), Green LED (PC Activity), Green LED (PLC Activity), Green LED (JBC Device Activity).

Connection Modes and Assembly

The SKR allows two connection modes: Control Mode and Sniffer Mode. Both modes require the SKR and a PC with the Robot Control software installed (downloadable from www.jbctools.com/jbcsoftware.html).

Control Mode

Description: Used to command and retrieve communication frames between the PC and the JBC Device.

Assembly: Control Mode

  1. Connect the PC and SKR using the USB A/B Cable.
  2. Connect the JBC Device (e.g., UCR or SFR) and SKR using the Communications Cable.
  3. Connect the SKR to the mains using the power supply cable. The Blue LED will illuminate, indicating a stable connection.
  4. Press the Push Button to switch the JBC Device on or off.

Green LEDs will flash when communication frames are exchanged between the PC and the JBC Device.

Diagram Description (Control Mode): A PC running JBC Robot Control Software connects via USB A/B cable to the SKR Communication Debugger for Robot. The SKR then connects via a Communications Cable to a JBC UCR Control Unit for Robot and/or a JBC SFR Solder Feeder for Robot.

Sniffer Mode

Description: Used to intercept communication frames between the Robot/PLC and the JBC Device. This mode aids in debugging the Robot Control software by decoding and visualizing frames in real-time.

Assembly: Sniffer Mode

  1. Disconnect the Communications Cable from the JBC Device and connect it to the SKR's male Communications Connector.
  2. Connect the JBC Device and SKR using the Communications Cable.
  3. Connect the PC and SKR using the USB A/B Cable.
  4. Connect the SKR to the mains using the power supply cable. The Blue LED will illuminate, indicating a stable connection.

Green LEDs will flash when communication frames are exchanged between the PC and the JBC Device.

Diagram Description (Sniffer Mode): A PLC/Robot connects via a Communications Cable to the SKR Communication Debugger for Robot. The SKR then connects via USB A/B cable to a PC running JBC Robot Control Software. The SKR also connects to a JBC UCR Control Unit for Robot and/or a JBC SFR Solder Feeder for Robot.

For more information about the Robot Control software, download its manual at www.jbctools.com/jbcsoftware.html.
