Features

The DieHard Portable Power 750 unit includes:

Diagram Description: The unit is a black, rectangular portable power station. On the front, it features a large DieHard logo, a work light, a jump starter ON/OFF switch, a USB port, and a button labeled "USB ON/OFF" and "Battery Status". Above the USB port, there are LED indicators for internal battery status (e.g., 100%-70%, 70%-30%, <30%) and USB status. Attached to the unit are thick red and black cables terminating in jump starter clamps.

Charging the Internal Battery

IMPORTANT: Charge the unit immediately after purchase, after each use, and every 30 days to maintain full charge and prolong battery life.

Checking Internal Battery Charge Level

Press the Battery Status button on the front of the unit. LED indicators show the charge level:

Charging via AC Power

Use an extension cord (not included). Connect the cord to the unit's charger plug and then to a 120V AC electrical outlet.

Charging via Vehicle (Engine Running)

You can also charge the internal battery while driving using a male-to-male charging cable (p/n 94500109, not included).

IMPORTANT: DO NOT CHARGE THE INTERNAL BATTERY FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES, AND DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERY UNATTENDED. IT MAY EXPLODE AND CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY.

  1. Ensure the vehicle engine is running.
  2. Insert one end of the charging cable into the unit's 12V DC socket.
  3. Insert the other end into the vehicle's 12V accessory socket (cigarette lighter).

Note: The Green and Yellow/Orange LEDs do not function during this charging method. Using this method bypasses maintenance mode and may overcharge the battery.

To monitor charge progress, press the Battery Status button. When the battery is fully charged, first disconnect the charging cable from the portable power unit, then from the vehicle's accessory socket. Note: Disconnect the charger cable completely when the engine is not running.

Using the Portable Power Unit

IMPORTANT: Using the jump-start function without a vehicle battery installed will damage the vehicle's electrical system.

Jump Starting a Vehicle

  1. Turn the vehicle engine OFF.
  2. Keep the DC cables away from fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other moving parts.
  3. For negative ground vehicles (most vehicles): Connect the RED clamp to the POSITIVE (+) battery terminal. Then, connect the BLACK clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine block, away from the battery.
  4. For positive ground vehicles: Connect the BLACK clamp to the NEGATIVE (-) battery terminal. Then, connect the RED clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine block, away from the battery.
  5. Turn the jump starter switch to the ON position.
  6. Crank the engine for no more than 8 seconds. If the engine does not start, wait 2 minutes before attempting again.
  7. Once the engine has started, turn the switch to the OFF position and disconnect the portable power unit from the battery.
  8. Charge the portable power unit.

Using the USB Port

The USB port provides over 2.1A at 5V DC.

  1. Ensure the battery clamps are properly stowed in their compartments.
  2. To activate the USB port, press the Battery Status button. The Battery Status LED will illuminate when the USB is on.
  3. Connect your device to the USB port.
  4. When finished using the USB port, press the Battery Status button to turn the USB off.
