On the front, it features a large DieHard logo, a work light, a jump starter ON/OFF switch, a USB port, and a button labeled "USB ON/OFF" and "Battery Status". Above the USB port, there are LED indicators for internal battery status (e.g., 100%-70%, 70%-30%, <30%) and USB status. Attached to the unit are thick red and black cables terminating in jump starter clamps.
Charging the Internal Battery
IMPORTANT: Charge the unit immediately after purchase, after each use, and every 30 days to maintain full charge and prolong battery life.
Checking Internal Battery Charge Level
Press the Battery Status button on the front of the unit. LED indicators show the charge level:
- Solid Green LED: 100%-70% charged.
- Solid Yellow/Orange LED: 70%-30% charged.
- Flashing Yellow/Orange LED: Less than 30% charged.
Charging via AC Power
Use an extension cord (not included). Connect the cord to the unit's charger plug and then to a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- During charging, the Yellow/Orange LED will illuminate until the charge reaches 70%.
- The Green LED will then become solid until fully charged.
- A pulsing Green LED indicates a fully charged battery.
- A full charge may take up to 72 hours.
- The charger automatically enters maintenance mode to keep the battery fully charged without damage. In maintenance mode, the Green LED pulses when no AC cord is connected.
- Charge the unit as soon as possible after each use.
Charging via Vehicle (Engine Running)
You can also charge the internal battery while driving using a male-to-male charging cable (p/n 94500109, not included).
IMPORTANT: DO NOT CHARGE THE INTERNAL BATTERY FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES, AND DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERY UNATTENDED. IT MAY EXPLODE AND CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY.
- Ensure the vehicle engine is running.
- Insert one end of the charging cable into the unit's 12V DC socket.
- Insert the other end into the vehicle's 12V accessory socket (cigarette lighter).
Note: The Green and Yellow/Orange LEDs do not function during this charging method. Using this method bypasses maintenance mode and may overcharge the battery.
To monitor charge progress, press the Battery Status button. When the battery is fully charged, first disconnect the charging cable from the portable power unit, then from the vehicle's accessory socket. Note: Disconnect the charger cable completely when the engine is not running.
