KVM Switch Family Overview
The KVM Switch Family offers various solutions for peripheral sharing:
KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) Switch
A KVM switch shares a single set of peripherals (keyboard, display, mouse, audio, USB) between multiple computers. This allows users to control all their computers with one keyboard and mouse, reducing desktop clutter.
Diagram Description: Illustrates a user connecting a single keyboard, mouse, display, and speakers to a "SECURE KVM SWITCH". This switch then connects to multiple computers labeled with security classifications like "Top Secret", "Restricted", and "Confidential". Mouse movement is used to switch between computers.
Features:
- Up to 4K video (3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz)
- Available in 2, 4, 8, and 16-port (commercial) versions
- Single-head and Dual-head versions available
- Copy/Paste between sources (Commercial feature)
- Freeze Audio
- Filtered USB
- Special dual DisplayPort /HDMI connectors
HSL provides NIAP certified rugged, secure, and commercial KVM switch products.
KM (Keyboard-Mouse) Switch
A KM switch shares a keyboard, mouse, audio, and USB between multiple computers. Users need only a single keyboard and mouse to interact with all computers.
User Benefits:
- Clearly view all computers simultaneously, as displays are directly connected.
- Free up desktop space by reducing peripheral clutter.
- Switch access by dragging the mouse cursor.
Features:
- Available in 2, 4, and 8-port versions
- USB 3.0 support (Commercial feature)
- Copy/Paste between sources (Commercial feature)
- Freeze Audio
HSL offers both secure and commercial KM switch products.

Mini-Matrix KVM
A Mini-Matrix KVM is a keyboard-video-mouse switch for sharing peripherals between computers. It offers enhanced functionality:
- View and control two selected computers on two displays simultaneously.
- Easily switch peripheral control by sliding the mouse cursor over the computer's display border, eliminating the need for front-panel buttons.
Features:
- 2, 4, and 8 host-port versions available; 2 console ports
- 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 @60Hz support
- Filtered USB support
- USB 3.0 support (Commercial feature)

The HSL Difference
The Need for a Secure Switch
- Networks of different classification levels are typically air-gapped to prevent data exchange.
- Sharing a single set of peripherals to access different air-gapped networks can be exploited as an attack vector.
- Peripheral devices have security vulnerabilities exploitable for:
- Data leaks
- Signaling
- Malicious code attacks
HSL's SECURE products eliminate these vulnerabilities.
Common Criteria provides an official standard for sharing peripherals between computers. NIAP (National Information Assurance Partnership) is the certifying body in the US. HSL's SECURE products are certified to the latest Common Criteria / NIAP requirements.
