Linortek Network Clock Quick Setting Instruction

Thank you for purchasing the Linortek Network Clock. This standalone clock can easily be connected to your network with POE switch IEEE 802.3af standard, and you can set the time settings using the built-in-software.

Packing List

Installation

  1. Mount the screws on the wall where you want to install the clock (two screws will be used).
  2. Hang the clock on the screws.
  3. The clock comes with a 3-meter Ethernet cable. If you need to extend the Ethernet cable, a RJ45 Coupler might be used (to be purchased separately). Connect the Ethernet cable to a POE switch (please make sure your POE switch meets IEEE 802.3af standard).

Find the IP Address on Your Network

The Clock is DHCP enabled. When a Clock SERVER unit is first installed on your network, it automatically obtains a web address from your router via DHCP if your router is set up to assign one. If your router is not set this way, it is suggested that you turn that feature on so you can operate the Clock SERVER and assign it the IP address of your choosing. There are several ways to find the Clock IP address on your network. Please make sure your network switch meets IEEE 802.3af standards.

1. Using Discover Program to locate the IP address

Discoverer is our specially designed program that will automatically locate your Clock SERVER. The Discoverer is a Java program; Java runtime needs to be loaded to use this feature. Java can be found here: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.

To download the Discoverer program, please go to: https://www.linortek.com/downloads/support-programming/.

Use of Chrome & Firefox browsers is recommended. If you prefer to use Internet Explorer browser, please note that when you download the Discoverer program, Internet Explorer saves this program as a Zip file by default. In order to use the Discoverer, you need to select Save as and rename the file as “Linortek Discoverer.jar" when you download with Internet Explorer browser.

When downloading the Discoverer program, sometimes you will see a popup warning message depending on your browser security settings, asking if you want to keep or discard this file, please click the Keep button as this is a Java program, it won't harm your computer.

Once Discoverer locates your device, it will display:

  1. IP Address
  2. Host Name
  3. MAC Address
  4. Other Info:
    • Blue LED (if on)
    • Product Name
    • Server Software Revision

A screenshot shows the LinorTek TCPIP Discoverer window with columns for IP Address, Host Name, MAC Address, and Other Info. Sample data includes IP addresses like 172.16.10.106:8008, 172.16.10.105:8007, and 172.16.1.119. Host names include NHMDEMO, NETBELL-DEMO, and CLOCK TEST. MAC addresses and other info are also listed.

Click the device you want to use shown on the Discoverer program, launch the SERVER web pages in browser. Click Login button on the homepage. The default username/password is: admin/admin. You may change these as you desire or disable this feature in the settings menu.

2. Using cmd command on your PC to ping the IP address

If you can't make the Discoverer program work, you can ping the SERVER to get its IP address on your network. Here is how:

  1. To bring up the run dialog, press the Windows key+R.
  2. Or open the Start menu on your PC and type in cmd on search bar, select cmd program.
  3. Type ping server and press Enter.

If the ping is successful, you should receive replies from the address that you are trying to ping. Open your browser and type in the IP address displayed on the ping window.

Activate the Clock

The clock is activated by default when it left the factory. For various reasons (such as performing factory reset), you will need to activate the clock before any other configuration.

To activate the clock, go to Settings-Settings page, find the UART Usage, enter Clock in that box, then click SAVE.

A screenshot of the Linortek Settings page is shown, with various options including 'UART Usage' set to 'Clock'.

Set Time Zone

CAUTION: Incorrect Time Zone may cause the Clock to show the incorrect time.

To set your Time Zone, go to Settings, select Time/Date from the drop-down menu, enter your local Time Zone (for example, -5 for Eastern Time Zone, -6 for Central Time Zone, -8 for Pacific Time Zone). Make sure the Use NTP Update box is checked (when this box is checked, the Clock will update its time from the NTP server every 30 minutes by default).

If you use Daylight Savings Time in your area, make sure the Use Daylight Savings Time box is checked, and set the Standard time on the Time box.

A screenshot of the Linortek Time/Date settings page is shown, allowing users to set Time, Date, Time Zone, and NTP settings.

Change Clock Name

If you wish to change your clock name from the default name SERVER, you can do so from Configure - Network Config page.

CAUTION: Incorrect settings may cause the board to lose network connectivity.

On the Network Configuration page, navigate to the Host Name box. This is a Netbios name at which this unit may be addressed in some networks. It may also appear in your router's lease directory. It makes a useful place to name your SERVER and appears on the Home page and on the Discoverer.

Network Configuration

This page allows the configuration of the board's network settings.

CAUTION: Incorrect settings may cause the board to lose network connectivity.

Enter the new settings for the board below:

A screenshot of the Linortek Network Configuration page is shown, displaying fields for MAC Address, Host Name, Port Number, IP Address, Gateway, Subnet Mask, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS. Options to Enable DHCP, Reboot, Save Config, and Cancel are also present.
