Drying Tips for Various Foods

Follow these guidelines for optimal drying results:

  1. Wash all products thoroughly before placing them in the dehydrator.
  2. Cut products into pieces that fit comfortably between the drying trays.
  3. Remove stones, seeds, and any spoiled or damaged parts.
  4. Drying time varies based on product type, thickness of cuts, and tray fullness.
  5. To prevent fruits from browning, immerse or spray them with lemon or pineapple juice.
  6. For even drying, rotate the trays periodically, placing upper trays at the bottom and vice versa.
  7. Some products have a natural protective layer that may extend drying time; peel these products before drying.
  8. To enhance aroma, sprinkle fruits with cinnamon or grated coconut.
  9. Vegetables requiring longer cooking times should be blanched before drying. Place clean, peeled vegetables on a sieve over boiling water for 1-5 minutes, then cool with cold water and dry. Alternatively, blanch in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then cool and dry.
  10. For drying herbs, use young leaves. Store dried herbs in airtight glass jars in a cool, shaded area. Avoid paper bags, as they absorb smell and fat.
  11. When drying meat, trim excess fat, cut into strips, marinate for 6-8 hours, and then dry continuously until the desired consistency is achieved.
  12. Fish for drying must be very fresh. Wash, debone, sprinkle with lemon juice, and soak in a saline solution before drying.
  13. Important Note: Meat and fish should be pre-cooked. This dehydrator does not reach temperatures high enough to kill bacteria or other pathogens.
  14. For drying flowers, select those that are not fully bloomed. Cut them into pieces and dry until the desired effect is achieved.
  15. Ensure products are thoroughly dried to prevent microbial activity and spoilage. Dried vegetables should be hard but brittle; dried fruits should be leathery and soft. For long-term storage, dry products even further.

Storage of Dried Products

  1. Storage containers must be clean and dry.
  2. Glass jars with metal lids are recommended for storing dried products. Keep them in a dark, dry place at 5-20°C.
  3. Check containers for moisture during the first week after drying. If moisture is present, products were not fully dried and require re-drying.
  4. Ensure dried food is completely cooled before storing it in containers.

Operating Instructions

  1. Before the first use, run the device empty for approximately 30 minutes.
  2. After use, clean the device as described in the "Cleaning and Maintenance" section.
  3. Arrange products on the trays (2), starting from the bottom. Use as many trays as needed based on the quantity of product.
  4. Do not place wet trays with products into the dehydrator; dry them first.
  5. Products can touch each other but should not overlap or be packed too densely.
  6. Position trays to allow for free air circulation between them.
  7. Place the lid (1) securely on the device; it must remain on throughout the entire drying process.
  8. Insert the plug into the electrical socket.
  9. Turn the switch (4) to the ON position. The control light will illuminate, indicating the drying process has begun.
  10. Set the drying temperature according to the following guidelines:
    • Herbs and spices: 35°C
    • Nuts and seeds: 41°C
    • Flowers: 46°C
    • Fruits and vegetables: 58°C
    • Meat and fish: 68°C
