3.3. Spring Installation and Adjustment
Note: The barrier gate is well adjusted before delivery. Please do not change the boom type and boom length at will. The length of springs prevails in kind; design is subject to change without prior notice. Regular maintenance and replacement are required for the spring due to its wear-tear feature.
Step 1: Spring installation, dis-assembly and replacement
Keep the boom in a vertical position. Loosen the spring fastening nuts, unscrew the M8x140mm spring adjusting screws with a hexagonal spanner, then take off the spring. The steps for installation and disassembly of the spring are the opposite.
Step 2: Spring force adjustment
When the power is off, turn the motor hand wheel to move the boom towards the closing direction. When the boom gets close to the horizontal position, if the hand wheel cannot be turned smoothly, the spring force is too small; tighten the spring. Turn the motor hand wheel to move the boom towards the opening direction. When the boom gets close to the vertical position, if the hand wheel cannot be turned smoothly, the spring force is too big; loosen the spring. Repeat these operations and adjustments until the hand wheel can be turned smoothly, indicating the spring force is at balance status.
Judging spring force by observing boom running situation also works. If the boom shakes when opening, the spring force is too strong. If the boom shakes when closing, the spring force is too low.
3.4. Mechanism Installation Direction Change
This barrier mechanism can be both left-installed and right-installed. Users can change the installation direction according to the actual situation. The following steps describe changing from left-installed to right-installed:
- Take out the 10MM screw by turning the 8MM Allen wrench counterclockwise.
- Push out the boom holder by turning the 14MM*150 screw clockwise.
- Disassemble the 6 sets of 8MM screws.
- Turn the mechanism 180 degrees vertically.

4.5.4. Relay output mode
The control board has two limit output relays. Users can set different output modes to meet different application requirements.
- Limit output: When the barrier gate opens to the up limit position, the open relay closes; when it closes to the down limit position, the down limit relay closes. During opening, closing, or stopping, these two relays are disconnected. This function can be used with the system to monitor the barrier gate's status.
- Alarm for boom swinging away: In this mode, "infrared signal input" and "GND" interface are used as the signal interface for boom installation. If they are short-circuited, the boom is working normally; if disconnected, the boom is swinging away. When the boom swings away, the barrier gate opens to the up limit position automatically, and the up limit relay stays closed. When the boom is installed correctly and works normally (signals are short-circuited), the up limit relay works normally. Note: This function requires an inductive switch for boom status detection.
- Alarm against artificial lifting boom: In this mode, the up limit relay serves as an alarm signal output. When the barrier gate closes at the down limit position, if the boom is artificially lifted to a certain angle, the up limit relay will be closed for 15 seconds as an alarm output. An external alarm can be connected.
- Down Limit Pulse Signal: After the boom reaches the down limit position, the down limit relay sends a closing signal for one second. This function can be used as the opening signal for another barrier gate or control system. The up limit relay
was closed when the boom fell down. The signal during boom falling and at the down limit position can be used as an R&G light signal or for detecting the barrier gate running status.
4.5.5. Buffer time for boom from closing to opening
When the open button is pressed during closing, this parameter sets the buffer time from receiving the command to starting the opening.
4.5.6. Buffer time of barrier gate stopping
When the stop button is pressed during opening or closing, this parameter sets a buffer time for the barrier to stop smoothly. This is the time from receiving the stop command to stopping completely.
4.5.7. Open the barrier gate by remote control to enter the motorcade mode
Opens the barrier gate by remote control to enter motorcade mode directly. The loop detector is invalid until the barrier gate closes. Closing the barrier gate by wire control or remote control exits motorcade mode. Opening by wire control does not enter motorcade mode. The default is "OFF". Tip: If set to "OFF" in the up limit position, long pressing the "UP" button of the remote controller for 4 seconds also enters motorcade mode. Alternatively, pressing the "STOP" button on the controller (program version "10824" or above) at the up limit position also enters this mode.
4.5.8. Valid time of loop detector signal
During opening or at the up limit position, the duration of the loop detector signal must exceed the set time. The auto-closing action is executed after the loop detector signal disappears, preventing the signal from being too short and triggering auto-closing, which could hit vehicles. The default time is 200ms. Range: 100ms-900ms.
4.5.9. Beep of Loop detector signal
When there is a loop detector signal (vehicle on the loop wire) and the boom is at the up limit position, the buzzer emits a hint tone. "ON" has sound, "OFF" has no sound. "ON" is default.
4.5.10. Failure angle of loop detector anti-smashing
During the closing process, when the boom reaches the setting angle from the horizontal level, it will not respond to the loop detector signal. This prevents vehicles from being followed by other vehicles and avoids misoperation of the loop detector triggering the barrier gate opening. The default value is 5 degrees.
4.5.11. Failure angle on obstacle
During the closing process, when the boom reaches the setting angle from the horizontal level, it will not respond to barrier gate opening if it meets an obstacle. The default value is 10 degrees.
4.5.12. Switching angle of R&G light
When the boom opens to the setting angle, the relay of R&G light will close. The default value is 60 degrees.
4.5.13. Wire control signal type measurement
"Infrared photocell", "loop detector/radar", and "stop" signals of the wire control interface can be set to normal open input and normal close input. The default is normal open input.
