April 25, 2017 – Pioneer announced a firmware update, released on April 25, enabling Chromecast built-in wireless audio streaming for selected home hi-fi components, AV receivers, home theater systems, and network speaker systems manufactured in 2016 or later.
Seamless Wireless Audio Streaming
The Chromecast built-in platform integrates compatible apps from devices like iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android phones and tablets, Chromebooks, and the Chrome browser on Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs with Pioneer components. This allows users to stream music, internet radio, and podcasts from popular online services for a smooth and convenient wireless playback experience.
A wide range of Chromecast-enabled apps are available, offering content from sports broadcasts, comedy, and educational podcasts to millions of songs worldwide. All content is easily accessed via a smart device and enjoyed through Chromecast-enabled speakers or sound systems.
Sampling transmission rates of up to 48 kHz ensure the original fidelity of the source without compression, delivering lossless CD-quality music.
The system offers a simple setup process with no initial routines or passwords required, making it easy for users to stream their favorite content instantly from preferred apps on their personal devices. Users can also make and receive calls or run other applications without interrupting playback.
To utilize the Chromecast built-in experience, devices must be connected to the same wireless network, and the apps used must be Chromecast-enabled. A list of Chromecast-enabled apps can be found at g.co/cast/audioapps. For more information on Chromecast built-in, visit https://www.google.com/chromecast/built-in/.
