Terminology and Abbreviations
Gateway: A Z-Wave® gateway, also known as a Z-Wave® controller, Z-Wave® master controller, Z-Wave® primary controller, or Z-Wave® hub, is a device that serves as a central hub for a Z-Wave® smart home network. The term "gateway" is used in this document.
Button S: The service button on Z-Wave® devices used for functions like inclusion (adding), exclusion (removing), and resetting the device to its factory default settings. The term "Button S" is used in this document.
Device: In this document, the term "Device" refers to the Shelly Qubino device that is the subject of this manual.
About Shelly Qubino
Shelly Qubino is a line of microprocessor-controlled devices that allow remote control of electrical circuits via smartphone, tablet, computer, or home automation system. They operate on the Z-Wave® wireless communication protocol, requiring a gateway for device configuration. When the gateway is connected to the internet, Shelly Qubino devices can be controlled remotely from anywhere. Shelly Qubino devices can operate in any Z-Wave® network with other certified Z-Wave® devices from other manufacturers. All mains-powered nodes will act as repeaters, regardless of the vendor, to increase network reliability. The devices are designed to work with older generations of Z-Wave® devices and gateways.
Wave Pro Series
The Wave Pro series is a line of devices suitable for homes, offices, shops, manufacturing facilities, and other buildings. Pro devices are mounted on a DIN rail inside a breaker box and are exceptionally suitable for new building constructions. All Wave Pro devices can be controlled and monitored via the Z-Wave® network.
About the Device
The device is an intelligent DIN rail mountable switch with power metering. It controls the on/off function of a single electrical device with a load of up to 16 A. It is compatible with switches (default) and buttons.
Installation Instructions
The device can be mounted on a DIN connector inside the breaker box. Refer to the wiring diagram (Fig. 1) in this user manual for installation instructions.
WARNING! Electric shock hazard. Installation of the device to the electrical grid must be performed with caution by a qualified electrician.
WARNING! Use the device only with electrical grids and appliances that comply with all applicable regulations. A short circuit in the electrical grid or any appliance connected to the device may damage it.
WARNING! Do not connect the device to appliances exceeding the specified maximum load!
WARNING! Leave at least 10 mm clearance around each Pro device if you expect currents higher than 5 A per channel.
WARNING! Connect the device only as shown in these instructions. Any other method may cause damage and/or injury.
WARNING! Do not install the device in locations where it can get wet.
WARNING! Do not use the device if it is damaged!
WARNING! Do not attempt to service or repair the device yourself!
WARNING! Before starting the installation of the Device, check that the circuit breakers are off and there is no voltage on their terminals. This can be done with a voltage tester or multimeter. Once you are sure there is no voltage, you can proceed with wiring the conductors.
WARNING! Do not allow children to play with the switches/buttons connected to the device. Keep Shelly Qubino remote control devices (mobile phones, tablets, computers) away from children.
WARNING! Do not shorten the antenna.
Recommendation: Place the antenna as far as possible from metal elements, as they can cause signal interference.
Recommendation: Connect the device using solid single-core wires or stranded wires with ferrules. The wires must have insulation with increased heat resistance, not less than PVC T105°C (221°F).
Recommendation: For inductive loads that cause voltage spikes during switching, such as electric motors, fans, vacuum cleaners, and similar, an RC suppressor (0.1 μF / 100 Ω / 1/2 W / 600 V AC) should be connected in parallel to the load.
