1 - Introduction
LCU1S is the new smaller, lighter and faster AiM Lambda Controller expansion supported by all the last car-bike AiM devices.
Please note: the only systems that do not support LCU1S are MXL, MXL2 and MyChron.
LCU1S allows you to perfectly tune the carburation of the engine as well as to improve the engine performances.
LCU1S uses a Bosch LSU4.9 probe that saves the original calibration for the duration of the sensor life and lasts for more than 100,000 km on a stock car.

3 - Configuring LCU1S
LCU1S can only be configured using AiM RaceStudio 3 software. You can freely download it from the AiM website at www.aim-sportline.com in the download software/firmware area.
LCU1S is an expansion that is to be loaded on an AiM device configuration. First, run the software and select the configuration where to load LCU1S on, or create a new one as shown below. To create a new configuration:
- Press "New Configuration" (1).
- Select the device you are configuring (e.g., Solo 2 DL v2) (2).
- Press "OK" (3).
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software interface showing the "Choose Your Device" section where a user selects a device like "Solo 2 DL v2" to create a new configuration.
The software then enters the "Channels" tab.
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software displaying the "Channels" tab. This tab lists various data channels such as RPM, Inline Acceleration, Lateral Acceleration, Vertical Acceleration, Roll Rate, Pitch Rate, Yaw Rate, GPS Speed, and Altitude, along with their sensor types, units, and frequencies.
To load LCU1S, activate the "CAN Expansions" (1) tab as shown below and follow these steps:
- Press "New Expansion" (2).
- Select LCU1S (3).
- Press "OK" (4).
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software showing the "CAN Expansions" tab. A dialog box titled "Select an Expansion" is displayed, listing various expansion types. The "LCU1S" option is highlighted, with callouts indicating the "New Expansion" button, the "LCU1S" selection, and the "OK" button.
Once the expansion is added, the software enters the related tab (OLC1S). Here it is possible to:
- Get the serial number of LCU1S or fill it in manually (1). Note: To automatically retrieve the serial number from a connected LCU1S, it must be powered and connected to the master device, which is then connected to your PC via Wi-Fi or USB. Refer to the user manual of each logger for Wi-Fi connection management.
- Select the multiplier to calculate AFR from Lambda value.
- Manage custom values through the dedicated panel.
Regarding the channel table (2), clicking on each channel allows you to set the sampling frequency, unit of measure, and display precision.
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software showing the "OLC1S" tab. It includes fields for "Expansion Name" and "Serial Number" (with a "Get Expansion Serial Number" button). Below this is the "Lambda Multiplier Manager" for setting AFR multipliers for different fuels. The "Channel Table" lists channels like "OLC1S Lambda", "OLC1S AFR", "OLC1S LmdTmp", and "OLC1S Diagn" with their properties.
4 - How to get the serial number of a connected LCU1S
To get the serial number of the connected LCU1S, ensure that LCU1S is powered and connect the master logger to the PC. To do so:
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top right of the software view (or plug the USB cable of the logger into the PC USB port).
- Select the logger to connect via Wi-Fi and press "Connect".
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software showing the main window with a "Communications Settings" dialog open, listing connected devices. Another screenshot shows a dialog box titled "Select the expansion device" where available expansions, including LCU1S, can be selected to retrieve the serial number.
Once the logger is connected, press "Get Expansion Serial Number" as shown below.
A panel will prompt you to select the connected expansion to configure and press "OK".
The software then returns to the "CAN Expansions" tab and displays the LCU1S Serial number.

5 - Online view and firmware update
Once LCU1S is connected and identified, it is suggested to complete, save, and transmit the configuration to the logger. This procedure may vary depending on the logger being configured.
Now it is possible to enter the online view and check LCU1S values. To do so:
- Enter the "Configurations" view.
- Press the logger you are configuring, as shown below.
Diagram Description: A screenshot of the AiM RaceStudio 3 software's "Configurations" view, listing various device configurations like "Solo 2 DL v2" and "MXS 1.x 01". The target logger is highlighted.
The software enters Online view:
- Activate the "Firmware" tab.
- The view shows the logger and its expansions on the right part of the view, as shown below.
