INSTRUCTIONS & EXERCISES
Hold the barrel by the far end. Place mouthpiece between lips. Experiment by covering different amounts of the Crow call mouthpiece. Exhale air while sounding the word "CAW".
Feeding Call
Alternate eight short and long caws in a series, "CAW-CAWWW, CAW-CAWWW." Pause one to two seconds and continue with the sequence, "CAW-CAWWW, CAW-CAWWW." Crows issue this call to alert other crows that food is available.
Come Here Call
Try this call first to locate a gobbler. Crows use this call to attract other crows. It is often heard in conjunction with the Feeding Call described above. The Come Here call consists of three long caws evenly spaced, "CAWWW-CAWWW-CAWWW." Wait one to two seconds and continue with three more long caws, "CAWWW-CAWWW-CAWWW."
Sentry Call
Crows use this call to alert other crows to danger. It consists of four caws - one long, two short, one long, "CAWWW-CAW-CAW-CAWWW."
Come Back Call
Often issued when one crow flies by another crow, the come back call consists of four Caws - two short and two long, "CAW-CAW-CAWWW-CAWWW."
Fighting Call
If the Come Here Call doesn't work, try the Fighting Call. Crows use this when they are close. It is often used in conjunction with the Come Back Call. It's a very excited call and consists of five caws - two long, two short, one long, "CAWWW-CAWWW-CAW-CAW-CAWWW."
