wifi-Aline: Introduction & Overview

The wifi-Aline by Rigel Systems is an innovative tool designed to enhance the accurate collimation of Dobsonian and Newtonian telescopes. It achieves this by providing a real-time video stream of the telescope's optics directly to your tablet, phone, or computer.

Unlike other tools, the wifi-Aline requires no additional apps or software downloads. Its powerful ESP32 processor serves webpages accessible via standard web browsers like Safari, Edge, Firefox, and Chrome, offering complete control over all functions and the live video feed.

The device is pre-boresighted to ensure the image's center of rotation aligns with the optical axis. For further assistance, it superimposes three coaxial target rings and a crosshair. These elements, when carefully offset, guide the precise adjustments needed for the secondary and primary mirrors, bringing them into accurate collimation.

Included accessories such as a Focuser Extension Tube, 5/8” ring, and triangle-ring mirror center spots complete the collimation system. The wifi-Aline's integrated ultra-bright micro-prism retro-reflector illuminates the optics, and its wireless range of over 20 feet makes it ideal for large telescopes, eliminating the need to move between the eyepiece and the mirror cell.
