SIRUI ST-224 Tripod: Setup and Instructions

Introduction
This document provides instructions for setting up and using the SIRUI ST-224 Tripod. SIRUI, Capturing Your Imagination!
1. Know the Tripod
Familiarize yourself with the components of the SIRUI ST-224 Tripod:
- Mounting Screw: 3/8"-1/4" threaded screw for attaching cameras.
- Unlock Button: Used for releasing the mounting screw.
- Bubble Level: Helps ensure the tripod is level.
- Accessory Port: For attaching additional accessories.
- Semi-Automatic Leg Angle Adjustment Button: Allows adjustment of leg angles.
- Mounting Platform: The base where the center column attaches.
- Spider: The central structure connecting the legs.
- Column Locking Knob: Secures the center column.
- Hook: Located at the bottom of the center column for hanging weights.
- Support Legs: The main legs of the tripod.
- Center Column: The adjustable vertical column.
- Twist Leg Locks: Used to extend and retract leg sections.

2. Leg Setup
The tripod legs can be adjusted to three different angles for stability and versatility:
- 22°: Standard angle for most situations.
- 55°: Wider angle for lower shooting positions.
- 85°: Widest angle for very low perspectives or compact storage.
To adjust the leg angle: Pull out the leg angle adjustment button. The button will automatically return to its position when the leg is pulled up to approximately 70°. The legs can be folded down for compact storage.

3. Leg Extension/Retraction
Extend and retract the tripod legs using the twist locks:
- To Extend: Twist the leg locks (starting from the smallest diameter section to the largest) counter-clockwise (left) for about half a turn. Extend the leg section.
- To Lock: Twist the leg locks clockwise (right) to secure the leg sections in place.

4. Interchangeable Rubber Feet & Spikes
The tripod features interchangeable feet for different surfaces:
- Rubber Feet: Provide grip on smooth surfaces.
- Spikes: Extendable metal spikes for soft or uneven ground.
To switch: Retract the rubber foot to reveal the metal spike. The process is reversible.

5. Insert/Remove the Column
5.1 Insert the Column:
- Loosen the column locking knob.
- Insert the center column into the mounting platform.
- Tighten the column locking knob to secure the center column.

5.2 Remove the Column:
- Loosen the column locking knob.
- Pull the center column up until it reaches its limit.
- Pull back and hold the small block (mechanism release).
- Remove the center column.

6. Column Ascent/Descent
Adjust the height of the center column:
- Loosen the column locking knob.
- Pull the center column up to the desired height.
- Tighten the column locking knob to lock the center column in place.

7. Convertible 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 Screw
The mounting screw can be converted between 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 sizes:
- Press the unlock button to take out the screw. (Fig. A)
- Invert the screw and put it back in position.
- Release the unlock button. The screw will automatically engage.

8. Leg Tension Adjustment
Adjust the tension of the tripod legs for smoother or firmer operation:
Use the included Allen key (F) to twist the screw (G) to adjust the leg tension.

9. Accessory Ports
The tripod is equipped with accessory ports for additional equipment:
- M: 3/8"-16 Accessory Port
- N: 1/4"-20 Accessory Port

Notes and Attention
Important Notes:
- Remove your camera and lens before moving the tripod to prevent damage from violent shaking.
- Extend legs from the largest diameter section to the smallest, and retract from smallest to largest.
- Do not exceed the recommended maximum load weight.
- Ensure all locks are securely tightened during use.
- For monopod use, use the wrist strap for added safety.
- Operating temperature range: -40°C to +100°C (-40°F to +212°F).
- Clean and dry thoroughly after use in damp, dirty, or dusty environments. Avoid saltwater exposure; if exposed, clean with mild soap and warm water, then towel dry.
- Keep away from high temperatures and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Do not leave equipment unattended in public places.
- Remove camera gear when transporting the tripod.
- Clean locking systems and gliding parts with a soft towel, warm water, and mild soap when necessary. Towel dry before storing.
- Lubrication is generally not required and can hinder performance. Contact SIRUI for assistance.
- Keep the product away from all electrical power sources.
