Safety Information
Your safety and the safety of others are very important. We have included many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety messages.
Safety Alert Symbol: This symbol alerts you to potential hazards that can kill or hurt you and others.
DANGER: You can be killed or seriously injured if you don't immediately follow instructions.
WARNING: You can be killed or seriously injured if you don't follow instructions.
Specific Warnings:
Risk of Fire
Installation must be performed by a qualified installer according to manufacturer instructions and local codes. Do not use flexible plastic or foil ducting. Flexible materials can collapse, crush, and trap lint, obstructing airflow and increasing fire risk.
Explosion Hazard
Keep flammable materials and vapors (like gasoline) away from the dryer. Do not dry items that have had flammable substances on them, even after washing. Do not dry items containing foam rubber, plastic, or rubberized materials unless using an air cycle or drying on a clothesline.
Important Safety Instructions Summary:
- Read all instructions before use.
- Do not dry items exposed to cooking oil, gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable substances.
- Supervise children closely when the dryer is used near them.
- Remove the dryer door before discarding or storing.
- Keep hands out of the drum when it is moving.
- Do not install or store the dryer where it will be exposed to weather.

Check Your Vent System for Good Airflow
Proper airflow is crucial for efficient drying, reduced drying times, and improved energy savings. Blocked or crushed vents, or improper installation, will reduce airflow and dryer performance.
Maintaining Good Airflow:
- Clean the lint screen before each load.
- Replace plastic or foil vent material with heavy, rigid 4" (102 mm) diameter vent material.
- Use the shortest vent length possible.
- Limit vent system to no more than four 90° elbows; each bend reduces airflow.
- Remove lint and debris from the exhaust hood.
- Clean the entire vent system at least every 2 years.
- Clear items from the front of the dryer.
Service calls due to improper venting are not covered by warranty.
Control Panel and Features
The control panel uses a sensitive surface; touch with your fingertip, not fingernail, to ensure selections are registered.
Key Controls:
- POWER: Touch to turn the dryer on/off. Touch to stop/cancel a cycle.
- WHAT TO DRY / HOW TO DRY: Select load type and desired drying method. The dryer automatically suggests options based on your selection or last use.

- MODIFIERS (Temp, Dryness): Adjust temperature and dryness levels for automatic cycles.
- OPTIONS (Wrinkle Shield, Cycle Signal, Damp Dry Signal, Reduce Static, EcoBoost, +Steam): Select additional features to enhance drying.
- LED DISPLAY: Shows cycle progress, estimated time remaining, or status indicators.
Cycle Status Indicators:
- Sensing: Indicates moisture sensor is operating.
- Wet: Load is still wet or cycle just started.
- Damp: Load is partially dried; items for hanging/ironing can be removed.
- Cool Down: Dryer is tumbling load without heat to cool it down.
- Check Vent: Indicates potential airflow issue (requires attention).
- End: Cycle has finished.
- Control Lock: Illuminates when controls are locked.
Cycle Guide
Select the best cycle by first determining "What to Dry" (load type) and then "How to Dry" (drying method). Automatic cycles offer the best energy savings and fabric care by sensing moisture levels.
How to Dry Options:
- Normal / Regular: Automatic Sensor Cycle stops when dryness level is reached.
- Wrinkle Control: Helps reduce wrinkles.
- Heavy Duty: High heat, longer cycle for tough items.
- Sanitize*: High heat cycle used to kill 99.9% of common bacteria (e.g., for sheets and towels). Run to completion.
- Timed Dry: Set a specific amount of dry time.
- Quick: Set a specific amount of dry time for faster drying.
Refer to the detailed cycle chart in the original manual for specific fabric recommendations.
Using Your Dryer
Step-by-Step Operation:
- Clean the lint screen: Pull screen up, roll lint off with fingers. Do not rinse or wash. Push back firmly.
- Load the dryer: Open door, place laundry loosely (do not pack tightly). Add dryer sheet if desired. Close door.
- Touch POWER: Turn the dryer on.
- Select load type: Choose "What to Dry" and "How to Dry" options.
- Adjust modifiers: Select temperature and dryness level as needed.
- Select additional options: Add features like Wrinkle Shield, EcoBoost, etc.
- Touch and hold START/PAUSE: Begin the cycle.
- Remove garments promptly: Remove clothes after the cycle finishes to reduce wrinkling.
Dryer Care
Cleaning the Dryer Location:
Keep the area around the dryer clear and free of items that could block airflow.
Cleaning the Dryer Interior:
To clean dryer drum: Use mild detergent and warm water with a soft cloth. Rinse and tumble dry with clean clothes or towels. For stubborn stains, use a microfiber cloth with hot water.
Removing Accumulated Lint:
Inside Dryer Cabinet: Lint should be removed every 2 years or more often, by a qualified servicer.
From the Exhaust Vent: Lint should be removed every 2 years or more often.
Cleaning the Lint Screen:
Every Load: Clean the lint screen located in the door opening. A clogged screen increases drying time.
As-Needed Cleaning: Residue from detergent or fabric softener can build up. Clean with a nylon brush every 6 months or as needed. If clogged, wash with hot water and detergent, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues, try the following solutions or consult your local service sheet.
Dryer Operation Issues:
- Dryer will not run: Ensure door is closed. Check fuses/circuit breakers. Verify correct power supply (240V for electric models).
- Dryer will not turn off: Check if Wrinkle Shield option was interrupted by opening the door.
- Dryer will not heat: Check fuses/circuit breakers. Verify correct power supply. Ensure gas valve is open (for gas models).
Unusual Noises:
- Humming/Whining (Steam models): Water pump may be running; normal during steam function or after installation.
- Thumping: Normal if dryer hasn't been used recently; should diminish with use.
- Rattling/Vibrating: Check drum for small objects. Ensure dryer is level.
- Clicking: Normal for gas valve operation.
Dryer Results Issues:
- Long drying times/Clothes not dry: Clean lint screen. Turn off EcoBoost. Check vent system for obstructions, correct length, and diameter. Ensure dryer is level.
- Cycle time too short: Check temperature setting (e.g., Air Only). Ensure load is not too large/heavy. Check fabric softener sheets aren't blocking grille. Ensure proper installation temperature (above 45°F/7°C) and closet ventilation.
- Lint on load: Clean lint screen.
- Stains on load: Use fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle; avoid with steam cycles. Loose dyes in clothes may cause drum stains but won't transfer.
- Loads are wrinkled: Remove load promptly. Do not pack dryer too tightly. Use Steam Refresh cycle for wrinkles/odors.
- Odors: Ensure water connection for steam models. Ventilate area if painting/staining occurred. Use Steam Refresh for odors from worn garments.
Display Codes:
- "PF" (Power Failure): Touch POWER to clear.
- "L2" (Low Voltage): Check power supply, fuses, or circuit breakers. Consult electrician if persists.
- "F# E#" codes: Indicate a service issue. Call for service.
- Check Vent Indicator: Clean lint screen and vent system. Check vent length and bends.
- "Loc" (Control Lock): Touch and hold CONTROL LOCK or DAMP DRY SIGNAL for 3 seconds to unlock.
