Openpath Smart Hub 4-Door Controller
Access control for the modern workplace
Openpath Smart Hub
The Openpath Smart Hub is an access control unit that supports up to four entries and up to eight readers (four Openpath Smart Readers and four Wiegand readers). The Smart Hub securely makes all entry decisions and includes ports for Openpath Smart Readers, Wiegand Readers, Request to Exit (REX) inputs, and Contact Sensors. The Smart Hub uses RS-485 wiring to connect to the Smart Readers and is powered by a built-in power supply.
Features
- Internet connectivity to the Openpath access control cloud for system management and communication.
- Stores all cloud configurations locally to remain fully functional in the event of an Internet outage.
- Uses industry standard RS-485 signaling to communicate with Openpath and/or standard Wiegand door readers over traditional Wiegand wiring.
- Includes port interfaces for 4 Openpath Readers, 4 Wiegand Readers, 4 Request to Exit (REX) inputs, and 4 Contact Sensors.
- Includes removable contact terminal blocks for convenient wiring.
- Ships with LifeSafety Power enclosure for security and easy wall mounting.
- Lifetime warranty.
- Offered as two separate SKUs:
- Controller with 12VDC Power Supply (Power for Smart Hub and up to 4 readers & 4 doors): OP-4ESH-12V
- Controller with 12VDC and 24VDC Power Supply (Power for Smart Hub and up to 4 readers & 4 doors at 12VDC or 24VDC): OP-4ESH-24V

Wiring Diagram Description
The wiring diagram illustrates the connections for the Openpath Smart Hub 4-Door Controller (OP-4ESH-12V). It details the input and output ports for various components of an access control system.
Power and Inputs:
- 12V SUPPLY: Provides power to the unit.
- AUX OUTPUT: Auxiliary power output.
- FIRE ALARM INTERFACE (FAI) INPUT: Allows the system to be controlled by a fire alarm system.
- MAIN DC OUTPUT: Main power output.
- REX (Request to Exit) Inputs: Four inputs for REX buttons or sensors.
- DOOR CONTACT Inputs: Four inputs for monitoring door status (open/closed).
- WIEGAND READER Inputs: Four interfaces for connecting Wiegand card readers.
- Openpath Reader Connections: Ports for Openpath Smart Readers, typically requiring 12V, A, B, and GND connections.
- Wiegand Reader Connections: Ports for Wiegand readers, typically requiring 12V, D1, D0, and GND connections.
Outputs and Controls:
- RELAY 1-4: Four relays for controlling locking hardware (e.g., door strikes, magnetic locks). These can be configured as FAIL SECURE (locks when power is interrupted) or FAIL SAFE (unlocks when power is interrupted).
- POWER LEDs, RELAY LEDs, STATUS LED: Indicator lights for system status.
- MCU RESET BUTTON: Button for resetting the microcontroller.
- ADMIN BUTTON: Button for administrative functions.
Connectivity:
- Ethernet: 10/100 baseT port for network connectivity.
- USB: Board-to-board USB connector.
Additional Notes:
- A separate 24V supply may be required for locking hardware that needs 24V.
- The Main Output can be switched by the Fire Alarm Interface (FAI). An additional output board is required if FAI control of both door strikes and electromagnetic locks is needed.
- Compliance marks: MET, FCC, CE.
