• Do wear personal protective equipment to avoid electric shocks and other injuries.
• Do use the product with the method described by the manufacturer, otherwise the safety characteristics or protective actions provided by it will possibly be damaged.
• Check whether the insulators of the test leads are damaged or have any exposed metal. Inspect the continuity of the test leads. If any test lead is damaged, do replace it.
• Pay special attention if the voltage is a true RMS of 30VAC, or 42VAC as peak, or 60VDC because these voltages are likely to cause electric shocks.
• When a probe is used, put fingers away from its contact and behind its finger protecting device.
• The impedance generated by the transient current of the extra operating circuit connected in parallel will possibly affect the measurement adversely.
• Before measuring a dangerous voltage, such as a true RMS of 30VAC, or 42VAC as peak, or 60VDC because, make sure the product is operating normally.
• Do not use UT261A after any part of it has been dismantled.
• Do not use UT261A close to explosive gases, steam, or dust.
• Do not use UT261A in a humid place.

Description of a complete UT261A

Measurement of direction of the rotating magnetic field

It is necessary to measure direction of the rotating magnetic field in the way below:

1. Insert terminals L1, L2 and L3 of the test pen into the L1, L2 and L3 holes of UT261A, respectively.
2. Insert the other terminal of the test pen into the alligator clip.
3. Have the alligator clip accessed to the phases of the three power cables to be measured. After that, the LCDs of the product will automatically display the phase sequences of L1, L2 and L3.
