This manual provides important safety and operating instructions for the MILWAUKEE Infrared Temp-Gun™ Thermometer. It is essential to read and understand this manual before using the product.
Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow these may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save these instructions.
Laser Safety
- Do not stare into the laser beam or view it directly with optical instruments.
- Do not point the laser light at others, as it can cause eye damage.
- Avoid exposure to laser radiation; the laser may emit hazardous radiation.
- Do not point the laser at reflective surfaces, as unpredictable results may occur.
Work Area Safety
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating the Temp-Gun™.
- Store the tool out of reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the tool or instructions to operate it.
- Avoid dangerous environments: do not use in rain, snow, damp, or wet locations.
- Do not use in the presence of explosive atmospheres (gaseous fumes, dust, or flammable materials) as sparks may be generated when inserting or removing batteries, potentially causing fire.
Personal Safety
- Stay alert and use common sense when operating the Temp-Gun™.
- Do not use while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
- Do not overreach; maintain proper footing and balance at all times for better control in unexpected situations.
Battery Use and Care
- This tool is designed for use with one (1) 9V battery. Do not attempt to use with any other voltage or power supply.
- Do not leave the battery within the reach of children.
- Install the battery according to polarity (+ / -) diagrams.
- Properly dispose of used batteries immediately.
- Do not incinerate or dismantle batteries.
- Avoid contact with liquid that may be ejected from the battery under abusive conditions. If contact occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek medical help.
Service
- Have your Temp-Gun™ serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts to ensure safety.
- Do not disassemble the tool. Incorrect reassembly may result in electric shock or fire. If damaged, take it to a MILWAUKEE service facility.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from temperatures exceeding 140°F (60°C).
- Do not remove or deface labels. Maintain labels and nameplates for important information.

Functional Description
The Temp-Gun™ features a laser pointer for aiming, a display for readings, mode/set/alarm buttons, a battery door, and indicators for battery status, laser activity, and alarms.

Assembly
Loading/Changing the Battery
- Use a flat screwdriver to rotate the battery door lock to the unlocked position and open the battery door.
- Connect a 9V battery to the connector block and fit it into the compartment.
- Close the battery door and turn the lock to the locked position.
Operation
Scanning Object Temperature
- Pull and hold the trigger for at least 2 seconds to scan the object's surface temperature. The laser pointer aids in aiming.
- The object being scanned should be larger than the spot indicated by the laser for accurate readings.
- As you hold the trigger, the primary measurement (surface temperature) and secondary measurement (max, min, average, or differential temperature) readings are displayed along with the corresponding icons.
- Release the trigger. The “HOLD” indication will be displayed until the screen automatically shuts off after approximately ten seconds.
Setting the Trigger Lock
To turn the trigger lock on or off, pull the trigger and press the SET button five times. Use the up/down arrow buttons to toggle between ON and OFF. Wait 5 seconds for the setting to save.
Selecting Celsius or Fahrenheit
To set the temperature scale, pull the trigger and press the SET button three times. Use the up/down arrow buttons to toggle between °C and °F. Wait 5 seconds for the setting to save.
Setting the Laser Lock
To turn the laser on or off, pull the trigger and press the SET button four times. Use the up/down arrow buttons to toggle between ON and OFF. Wait 5 seconds for the setting to save.
Temperature Alarm
Press the ALARM button to activate the alarm function. The bell icon will appear. If the measured temperature falls outside the preset range, the temperature reading will flash.
Setting Preset Range for the Alarm
- To set the alarm range, pull the trigger and press the SET button. Repeat to toggle between HI and LO settings.
- Use the up or down arrow buttons to adjust the temperatures. Wait 5 seconds for the ranges to save.
Low Battery
When the Low Battery icon is displayed, change the battery.
Modes
- MAX: Displays the maximum temperature measured during a continuous reading.
- MIN: Displays the minimum temperature measured during a continuous reading.
- AVG: Displays the average temperature of the last 20 measurements during a continuous reading.
- DIF: Displays the difference between MAX and MIN during a continuous reading.
Maintenance
General Maintenance
- Always remove batteries before performing maintenance.
- Never disassemble the tool. Contact a MILWAUKEE service facility for all repairs.
- Keep the tool in good repair by adopting a regular maintenance program. Return the tool to a MILWAUKEE service facility for repairs after six months to one year of use.
- If the tool does not start or operate at full power with new batteries, clean the battery door contacts. If the tool still does not work properly, return it for repairs.
Cleaning the Lens
- Blow off loose particles with clean compressed air.
- Carefully wipe the surface with a cotton swab moistened with water.
- Dry completely with a second cotton swab.
Cleaning
- Clean dust and debris from the tool. Keep handles clean, dry, and free of oil or grease.
- Use mild soap and a damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid harsh cleaning agents and solvents that can damage plastics.
Repairs
For repairs, return the tool to the nearest service center listed on the back cover of this operator's manual.
Accessories
Always remove batteries before changing or removing accessories. Use only accessories specifically recommended for this tool, as others may be hazardous. Refer to your MILWAUKEE Electric Tool catalog or visit www.milwaukeetool.com for a complete listing of accessories.
Limited Warranty - USA and Canada
MILWAUKEE Test & Measurement Products are warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years* after the date of purchase. Return the tool and proof of purchase to a MILWAUKEE factory Service Center. This warranty does not cover damage from misuse, alterations, abuse, normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or accidents, or repairs made by unauthorized personnel.
*Specific warranty periods apply to Lithium-Ion batteries, alkaline batteries, and non-contact voltage detectors.
Warranty registration is not necessary. The manufacturing date will be used to determine the warranty period if proof of purchase is not provided.
MILWAUKEE shall not be liable for incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits. Some states do not allow exclusion or limitation of these damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other express warranties. Implied warranties are limited to the duration of the applicable express warranty.
Limited Warranty - Mexico, Central America and Caribbean
TECHTRONIC INDUSTRIES warrants this product for five years from the original purchase date against defects in material and workmanship. Present the warranty card or proof of purchase to an Authorized Service Center. Call 1-800-832-1949 to locate the nearest ASC. Milwaukee covers reasonable transportation costs related to warranty service.
Exceptions: Warranty is void if the product is used under abnormal conditions, not operated according to the manual, or if it has been modified or repaired by unauthorized personnel.
