This document provides comprehensive instructions for the use, maintenance, and safety of the Olimpia Splendid PROCOOL 16 E portable air conditioner.
0 - WARNINGS
0.1 - GENERAL INFORMATION
Thank you for choosing the Olimpia Splendid appliance. This portable air conditioner uses the environmentally friendly hydrocarbon R32 refrigerant. Please read these instructions carefully before use and repair. Note that the drawings in this manual may differ slightly from the actual unit.
0.2 - SYMBOLS
The following symbols are used to convey important information for correct and safe operation:
- Service: Indicates situations requiring the attention of the SERVICE department or CUSTOMER TECHNICAL SERVICE.
- Index: Paragraphs marked with this symbol contain critical safety information and recommendations. Failure to comply may result in injury, loss of warranty, or manufacturer liability refusal.
- Raised hand: Indicates actions that must not be performed.
- HAZARD: Indicates the use of flammable refrigerant (R32). If refrigerant escapes and encounters an ignition source, there is a fire risk.
- GENERIC DANGER: Alerts personnel to the risk of physical damage if operations are not performed in compliance with safety regulations.
- ATTENTION: Indicates that the document must be read carefully before installation and use, or that assistance personnel must follow the installation manual. It may also indicate additional information in attached manuals or the user/installation manual.
0.3 - GENERAL WARNINGS
THE PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER IS ONLY SUITABLE FOR INDOOR USE AND NOT FOR OTHER APPLICATIONS.
- Before installation, ensure the unit is properly grounded. Contact the manufacturer if you have questions.
- Place the appliance on a flat, dry surface, maintaining at least 50cm clearance from surrounding objects or walls.
- Ensure the power plug is intact and firmly plugged into the outlet. Route the power cord safely to prevent tripping.
- Do not obstruct the air inlet and outlet. Keep them clear of obstructions.
- Ensure drainage pipes are correctly connected and not distorted or bent.
- Handle the upper and lower louvers with care to avoid damage.
- When moving the appliance, keep it in an upright position.
- The unit should be kept away from heat sources like gasoline, flammable gas, stoves, and other heat sources.
- Do not disassemble or modify the unit. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service agent for any failures.
- Do not install or use the air conditioner in bathrooms or other humid environments.
- Do not pull the plug to turn off the machine.
- Do not place objects on top of the unit or spill liquids into it.
- Do not use insecticide sprays or other flammable substances near the unit.
- Clean the unit with a damp cloth and water only. Do not use chemical solvents like gasoline or alcohol. Ensure the unit is disconnected from the wall socket before cleaning.
- Keep children away from the appliance unless under adult supervision.
- If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified service agent.
0.4 - WARNINGS FOR R290 REFRIGERANT GAS
- The appliance contains R32 gas (Flammability Classification A2L).
- Store the appliance in a well-ventilated area where the room size corresponds to the specified operational area.
- The appliance must be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (e.g., open flames, operating gas appliances, or electric heaters).
- Do not pierce or burn the unit.
- Be aware that refrigerants may not have an odor.
- R32 is a refrigerant gas compliant with European directives. Do not pierce any part of the refrigerant circuit.
- Do not use means to accelerate defrosting or cleaning other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
- Do not use tools different from those recommended by the manufacturer for defrosting and cleaning.
- If the appliance is installed, used, or stored in a non-ventilated area, the room must be designed to prevent refrigerant accumulation and the consequent fire or explosion hazard.
- Comply with national gas regulations.
- Keep ventilation openings clear of obstructions.
- Store the appliance to prevent mechanical damage.
- Do not attempt to repair or access the refrigerant. Contact the manufacturer or a service agent for assistance.
- Servicing must only be performed by the equipment or qualified service agent.
- TRANSPORT OF EQUIPMENT CONTAINING FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS: Comply with transport regulations.
- MARKING OF EQUIPMENT USING SIGNS: Comply with local regulations.
- DISPOSAL OF EQUIPMENT USING FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS: Comply with national regulations.
- STORAGE OF EQUIPMENT/APPLIANCES: Store in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- STORAGE OF PACKED (UNSOLD) EQUIPMENT: Storage protection must prevent mechanical damage that could cause refrigerant leaks. Local regulations determine the maximum number of pieces that can be stored together.
- INFORMATION ON SERVICING:
- Checks to the area: Perform safety checks to minimize ignition risk before working on systems with flammable refrigerants. Comply with precautions before working on the refrigerating system.
- Work procedure: Work under a controlled procedure to minimize flammable gas/vapor risks.
- General work area: Instruct all personnel on the work being carried out. Avoid work in confined spaces. Section off the workspace and ensure the area is made safe by controlling flammable material.
- Checking for presence of refrigerant: Check the area with an appropriate refrigerant detector before and during work. Ensure leak detection equipment is suitable for flammable refrigerants (non-sparking, sealed, or intrinsically safe).
- Presence of fire extinguisher: Have appropriate fire extinguishing equipment available for hot work. A dry powder or CO2 fire extinguisher should be readily accessible.
- No ignition sources: Do not use ignition sources when working on refrigeration systems. Keep ignition sources (including smoking) away from the work site. Survey the area for flammable hazards or ignition risks before work. Display 'No Smoking' signs.
- Ventilated area: Ensure the area is open or adequately ventilated before conducting hot work. Maintain ventilation during work to disperse released refrigerant.
- Checks to the refrigeration equipment: Ensure electrical components are fit for purpose. Follow manufacturer's maintenance and service guidelines. Consult the manufacturer if in doubt. Check charge size, ventilation, secondary circuit (if applicable), and markings. Correct illegible markings. Ensure pipes/components are protected from corrosive substances.
- Checks to electrical devices: Perform initial safety checks and component inspections. Do not connect electrical supply if a fault compromises safety, unless a temporary solution is used. Report any faults. Initial safety checks include discharging capacitors safely, ensuring no live electrical components are exposed, and checking earth bonding continuity.
- REPAIRS TO SEALED COMPONENTS: Disconnect electrical supplies before removing sealed covers. If electrical supply is necessary, use a permanently operating leak detection form. Pay attention to cable damage, connections, terminals, seals, and gland fitting. Ensure apparatus is securely mounted and seals are not degraded. Replacement parts must meet manufacturer specifications. Silicon sealant may affect leak detection. Intrinsically safe components do not require isolation.
- REPAIR TO INTRINSICALLY SAFE COMPONENTS: Do not apply inductive or capacitance loads that exceed equipment limits. Intrinsically safe components can be worked on live in a flammable atmosphere. Ensure test apparatus is correctly rated. Use manufacturer-specified replacement parts.
- CABLING: Check cabling for wear, corrosion, pressure, vibration, sharp edges, and environmental effects. Consider aging and vibration from compressors/fans.
- DETECTION OF FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS: Do not use potential ignition sources for leak detection. A halide torch or any detector using an open flame must not be used.
1 - FEATURES AND COMPONENTS (Fig.1)
The PROCOOL 16 E features a modern design with cooling, dehumidification, fan, and drainage functions. It includes a user-friendly LED display, a full-function remote control, and air filtration capability. A timing switch function and protection functions, including a 3-minute compressor restart delay, are also included.

2 - INSTALLATION
2.1 - TRANSPORTATION, MARKING AND STORAGE
- CAUTION: Comply with transport, marking, and disposal regulations for equipment containing flammable refrigerants.
- Store equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. Storage protection should prevent mechanical damage and refrigerant leaks. Local regulations may limit storage quantities.
2.2 - INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT
- Before use, keep the portable air conditioner upright for at least two hours.
- The unit can be moved easily; ensure it remains upright and on a flat surface during movement.
- Do not install or use in bathrooms or other humid environments.
Install the exhaust pipe assembly (fig.2):
- Take out the outer connector assembly and exhaust pipe assembly, remove plastic bags.
- Insert the exhaust pipe assembly into the back panel vent slot (push left) and complete the assembly.
Install the main unit (fig.3):
- Move the unit to the window, keeping a minimum distance of 50 cm from walls.
- The exhaust hose length ranges from 280-1,500mm. Do not use extension tubes or other hoses, as this may cause malfunction. Ensure the exhaust pipe is not blocked to prevent overheating.
- Elongate the exhaust pipe and snap the flat end into the window sealing plate assembly. Ensure the pipe is not distorted or turned more than 45°. Keep the exhaust pipe clear of obstructions.
Installation of window sealing plate components (fig.4):
- Half open the window and mount the window sealing plate assembly. Components can be placed horizontally or vertically.
- Pull components open, adjust the opening distance to contact the window frame, and fix them.
Install the window sealing plate assembly (fig.4):
- The flat end of the exhaust pipe joints must be snapped into place.
- The pipe cannot be bent more than 45 degrees.
- Keep the ventilation of the exhaust pipe unobstructed.
3 - USE OF THE APPLIANCE
3.1 - Control panel operation instructions (Fig.5)
- SWING Button: Activates the swing function when the unit is on.
- TIMER Button: Set the timer for on/off intervals. Press the timer button, then use UP/DOWN keys to set the required time (1-24 hours).
- UP Button: Increases temperature setting or timer setting. Not available in FAN or DEHUMIDIFYING modes.
- DISPLAY WINDOWS: Show current settings.
- DOWN Button: Decreases temperature setting or timer setting. Not available in FAN or DEHUMIDIFYING modes.
- MODE Button: Switches between Cooling, Dehumidifying, and Fan modes.
- SLEEP MODE Button: Activates sleep mode (cooling mode only). FAN speed is set to LOW and is not adjustable. Pressing the button again cancels sleep mode.
- POWER Button: Turns the unit on and off.
3.2 - REMOTE CONTROL
3.3.a - Insertion of batteries
Batteries are supplied with the machine. Check polarity indicated on the bottom of the compartment.
3.3.b - Replacement of batteries
Always use new batteries. Old or different batteries may cause malfunction. The remote uses two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries. Replace both batteries and dispose of old ones correctly. Remove batteries if the remote is unused for extended periods.
3.3 - PROTECTION FUNCTION
3.3.a - Frost Protection Function
The unit enters frost protection mode if the exhaust pipe temperature drops too low. Operation resumes when the temperature returns to normal.
3.3.b - Overflow Protection Function
When the water pan exceeds the warning level, an alarm sounds, and the "FULL" indicator flashes. Drain the unit as described in the "Drainage Instructions" chapter. The machine will return to normal operation after draining.
3.3.c - Automatic Defrosting
This function is available only on cooling models.
3.3.d - Compressor Protection Function
A 3-minute startup delay protection function increases the compressor's service life.
4 - MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning or maintenance, turn off the machine and unplug the power cord.
4.1 - CLEANING
4.1.a - Clean the surface
Clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemicals such as benzene, alcohol, or gasoline, as they can damage the surface.
4.1.b - Clean the filter screen
If the filter is clogged, the unit's effectiveness will decrease. Check the filter every two weeks.
4.1.c - Clean the upper filter screen frame
- Unscrew and remove the filter net.
- Soak the filter screen in warm water (40°C) and let it dry naturally.
4.2 - MAINTENANCE
4.2.a - Drainage Instructions
The machine has two drainage methods:
- Manual drainage:
- When the water pan is full, empty it. Ensure the unit is turned off and unplugged.
- Place a container below the side water outlet at the back of the unit.
- Remove the water plug; water will flow into the container.
- Keep the drainage cover and water plug in a safe place during draining. The body can be tilted slightly backward.
- If the container fills before draining is complete, replace the plug, empty the container, and repeat steps.
- Once emptied, replace and tighten the water plug.
- Continuous drainage (Optional): (Applicable to dehumidifying mode only)
- Unplug the water plug.
- Attach the drainage pipe to the water outlet.
- Connect the drainage pipe to a bucket.
4.2.b - Unit Storage
- Unscrew the drainage cover, unplug the water plug, and discharge water from the water pan.
- Turn on the machine, set to low-wind ventilation mode, and maintain until the drainage pipe is dry to prevent mildew.
- Turn off the machine, unplug the power plug, wrap the power cord, and install the water plug and drainage cover.
- Remove the exhaust pipe and store it safely.
- Cover the main unit with a plastic bag and store in a dry place, out of reach of children. Take dust control measures.
- Remove batteries from the remote control and store them safely.
- Ensure the main unit and all components are stored in a dry and safe place.

7 - TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problems | Reasons | Solutions |
