It may also be in violation of applicable laws.
  • Mitsubishi Electric Corporation cannot be held responsible for malfunctions or accidents resulting from the use of the wrong type of refrigerant.
  • Our air-conditioning equipment and heat pumps contain a fluorinated greenhouse gas, R410A.

CITY MULTI YKE-Series: Further Enhanced Energy Saving

Energy saving is increasingly important globally. Mitsubishi Electric leads in developing advanced products that provide high-quality energy-saving solutions across various sectors.

High Rated Performance

Compared to conventional series, all YKE series models (8 to 60HP) show improved rated EER/COP, leading to less energy consumption during peak hours and high-temperature periods.

High Partial-Load Performance

YKE-Series units surpass conventional models in both rated and partial-load performance. This results in significant energy savings during mornings and evenings when temperatures are lower and less cooling power is required.

Energy Saving Assist Function

This function optimizes energy-saving performance by precisely matching installation requirements, achieving results that exceed product specifications and contributing to truly energy-saving buildings.

S-series PUMY: Compact Outdoor Units

The PUMY S-series offers side-flow type outdoor units from 7 HP to 12 HP, providing flexible installation in tight spaces. These units are ideal for small-scale offices and residences (1-phase type VKM).

Advantage of PUMY (for Residences)

A single 10 HP-12 HP outdoor unit can connect up to 29 indoor units (P15-250), allowing multiple indoor units in many rooms to be connected to one outdoor unit, saving space.

Piping Length Capabilities

PUMY units support extensive piping lengths. For CP175-225YKM2 models, total length can be up to 150m (492ft) with a farthest piping length from the first branch of 30m (98ft). Vertical differentials between indoor/outdoor units can be up to 50m (164ft) when the outdoor unit is higher, and 40m (131ft) when lower. For CP250-300YBM2 models, total length can reach 310m (1,017ft) with similar vertical differentials.

Features

  • Operation Guaranteed up to 46°C: New inverter technology allows units to operate at outdoor air temperatures as high as 46°C.
  • Quiet Mode: All models feature three quiet modes in addition to the normal mode, allowing selection of a suitable noise level for various applications, such as residential zones.

Features of the Branch Box

Branch boxes enable connection to Mitsubishi Electric indoor units (room air conditioners, Mr. SLIM) that do not typically support M-NET connections, offering flexible system design for various room types.

System Example

A PUMY series outdoor unit can connect to both CITY MULTI indoor units and other Mitsubishi Electric indoor units via branch boxes (PAC-MK34BC, PAC-MK54BC). This consolidates heat sources and reduces installation space.

Precautions for Unit Construction

  • Capacity and number of indoor units differ when using a branch box; refer to installation manuals.
  • Capacity calculations depend on the connected indoor unit; refer to installation manuals.
  • Piping lengths also differ with branch boxes; refer to installation manuals.

Comparison of Piping Lengths for PUMY-Series Models with Branch Boxes

Piping lengths vary significantly when branch boxes are used. For CP250/300 models, total length can be 310m for City Multi only, but 240m for mixed systems. Maximum allowable lengths and vertical differentials also vary. For CP175/200/225 models, total length is 150m for both City Multi only and mixed systems.

Specifications of Branch Boxes

Models PAC-MK54BC and PAC-MK34BC support connecting up to 5 and 3 indoor units respectively. They operate on 1-phase power supply and have compact dimensions.

Optional Parts for Branch Boxes

Various joint pipes (MAC-A454JP-E, PAC-SG76RJ-E, PAC-493PI, MAC-A456JP-E, MAC-A455JP-E, PAC-SG71RJ-E, PAC-SG77RJ-E, PAC-SG75RJ-E), port connectors (MSDD-50BR-E, MSDD-50AR-E), outer covers (PAC-AK350CVR-E), and filter dryers (PAC-SG82DR-E) are available.

High Reliability Features

1. Compressor Protection

Mitsubishi Electric compressors are designed to prevent liquid refrigerant from entering the compression part. An accumulator separates liquid and gas refrigerants, and the compressor structure is filled with low-pressure gas refrigerant. This design protects the compressor from malfunctions and damage due to liquid backflow.

Operation with One Compressor (up to 20HP)

Outdoor units can operate with a single compressor, simplifying service and reducing maintenance requirements due to fewer key parts.

Rotation Control

With combination models, outdoor units operate alternately, reducing operating load and extending service life. Units are started in sequence to equalize operating time.

Emergency Operation Mode

Emergency operation is possible via the indoor unit's remote control. In combination models, if one module malfunctions, other outdoor units can continue to operate, ensuring system protection.

2. Electric Parts Protection

  • Gecko Guard: YKE models feature preventative measures like slits and bottom panel design to prevent geckos from entering the control board box, reducing malfunction risks.
  • Allowable Operating Voltage Range: Operation is guaranteed even with voltage fluctuations of up to ±10% (or +20% for 380V).
  • Naturally Cooled PCB: Printed circuit boards are placed in the natural air flow path for efficient air cooling, improving reliability.
  • Access from Front Panel: Electrical parts are concentrated in the upper part of the panel, allowing easy replacement of PCBs and front access for maintenance.

3. Corrosion Resistance

Mitsubishi Electric products reduce corrosion effects in harsh environments (e.g., coastal areas) through specialized designs for outdoor units.

  • Film Coating on PCB: Printed circuit boards are protected by a polyurethane film coating for salt corrosion resistance.
  • Polyester Coated Sheet: Outdoor units are made with polyester coated steel sheets (JRA 9002 compliant) to prevent corrosion, with BS models featuring a thicker coating.
  • New Heat Exchanger Design: The YKE series uses a new heat exchanger with aluminum alloy flat tubes and fins with anti-corrosion zinc treatment, effective against salt and traffic air pollution.

4. Operation Support Function

Mitsubishi Electric's M-NET system allows other indoor units to continue operation even if one unit stops due to malfunction, without special settings.

  • M-NET Indoor/Outdoor Unit Communication: The M-NET transmission line can supply power, enabling automatic closing of LEV for problematic indoor units, preventing condensation and ensuring continued operation of other units.
  • For Hotel Applications: If one guest room's system is unusable, air conditioning in other rooms can continue without interruption.

High Installation Flexibility

1. Flexible Wiring Design

The M-NET system offers unlimited total wiring length for CITY MULTI units and supports multiple branching levels, greatly increasing design flexibility for various buildings.

2. Flexible External Static Pressure Setting

Outdoor unit static pressure can be selected (0, 30, 60 Pa), facilitating installation on each floor of high-rise buildings or balconies, allowing connection of long exhaust hoods.

3. Long Piping Length

Piping design allows for flexibility in various building types. CITY MULTI systems support total piping lengths up to 1000m (3,280ft), with maximum allowable lengths of 165m (541ft) and farthest indoor unit from first branch of 40m (131ft).

Other Useful Functions
