MSA Anchor Connector Straps

Introduction

Anchor connector straps are components specifically designed to attach a single personal fall arrest system to an anchor. There are two basic styles of anchor connector straps: double D-ring and sewn loop. The anchor connector strap is primarily a component of a personal fall arrest system, functioning as an anchor connector. It can also be used for positioning, travel restraint, rescue, retrieval, evacuation, and confined space entry/exit operations, depending on the associated system components used with the anchor connector strap.

Materials by Model

• The PointGuard residential anchor connector strap uses red polyester webbing with a nominal width of 44.5 mm (1.75 in.) with a minimum breaking strength rating of 28.9 kN (6,500 lbf) when new.
• The MSA anchor connector strap uses orange polyester webbing with a nominal width of 76 mm (3 in.) with a minimum breaking strength rating of 130 kN (29,400 lbf) when new, or yellow nylon webbing with a nominal width of 76 mm (3 in.) with a minimum breaking strength rating of 80 kN (18,000 lbf) when new. Webbing varies by specific model number.
• The double D-ring anchor connector strap and MSA anchor sling use red polyester webbing with a nominal width of 44.5 mm (1.75 in.) with a minimum breaking strength rating of 28.9 kN (6,500 lbf) when new.
• The Thermatek anchor connector strap uses black Kevlar webbing with a nominal width of 69.8 mm (2.75 in.) with a minimum breaking strength rating of 44.4 kN (10,000 lbf) when new. This model is designed for use in high-temperature environments, such as welding and cutting.
• The D-ring (hardware) is galvanized steel, with a minimum breaking strength rating of 22.2 kN (5,000 lbf) and 100% proof tested to 16 kN (3,600 lbf).

When used as part of a personal fall arrest system, fall arrest forces should not exceed 8 kN (1,800 lbf).
