Q-SYS NV-21-HU: Native Network Video Endpoint for Q-SYS

The Q-SYS NV-21-HU is a software-configurable network video endpoint designed for the Q-SYS Platform, providing a comprehensive single-cable solution for video distribution, AV bridging, and device charging via USB-C. Its compact design and reduced I/O make it suitable for meeting rooms, learning spaces, hospitality, and entertainment installations.

The NV-21-HU integrates seamlessly with other Q-SYS NV Series video endpoints and offers native integration and control within the Q-SYS ecosystem.

Single Cable Solution

A single USB-C connection to the NV-21-HU allows a user's device to distribute video formats up to 4K60 4:4:4 via the Q-SYS Shift™ video codec. It also integrates Q-SYS network camera and audio feeds into supported collaboration applications and charges the connected device simultaneously¹.

Maximize Flexibility in Design & Specification

The NV-21-HU can be configured as an encoder or decoder in Q-SYS Designer Software and operate in either HDMI or USB-C mode, supporting a wider range of user devices without adapters. The integrated AV Bridging capability eliminates the need for additional hardware to connect Q-SYS network cameras and audio feeds to a UC application.

HDMI Mode: Enables video distribution from the HDMI input and uses the USB-C connection for AV bridging and device charging.
USB-C Mode: Enables video distribution, AV bridging, and device charging via the USB-C connection.
Dual Streaming Support (Encoder): Encodes separate video streams (1080p max resolution) from both HDMI and USB-C to the network. Supported in Q-SYS Designer Software v9.10 and later.

The NV-21-HU offers a more compact endpoint within the NV Series, enabling simple and scalable designs across various applications.

Designed for Q-SYS

As a native Q-SYS product, the NV-21-HU is managed by the Q-SYS OS. The Q-SYS Platform's architecture supports third-party integrations from Q-SYS Partners and developers.

Control

RS-232: Three-pin Euro terminal connection for controlling third-party devices with Q-SYS Control.

USB

USB HID Control: Control host PCs via USB connection using Q-SYS Designer Software components.
Q-SYS AV Bridging: Expands NV-21-HU functionality, allowing devices via USB-C to connect directly to the endpoint. It integrates Q-SYS audio and camera feeds for remote meetings, emulating a webcam, speakerphone, and multi-channel soundcard over a single driverless USB connection.

Audio

HDMI Audio Input: Receives up to 8 channels of PCM audio from the video source, routable within Q-SYS Designer Software.
USB-C Audio Input: Receives up to 8 channels of PCM Audio from the video source, routable within Q-SYS Designer. Additional 1x1 Speakerphone and 2x2 Soundcard options are available with Q-SYS AV Bridging feature licenses⁴.
HDMI Audio Output: Embeds up to 8 channels of PCM audio from Q-SYS to the HDMI output, allowing the use of display speakers as a Q-SYS audio destination for source audio or other audio content.

Security and Authentication

AES-128: Supports AES-128 encryption for audio and video signals.
Content Protection: HDCP 1.4 & HDCP 2.3 compliant.
802.1x: Authentication available and configurable through Q-SYS Peripheral Manager.

Q-SYS Shift™ Adaptive Bitrate Codec

The NV-21-HU utilizes Q-SYS Shift™ video compression for high-quality, low-latency video streaming up to 4K60 4:4:4 over a standard gigabit network. Q-SYS Shift™ employs DCT and temporal compression technologies, similar to H.264 and H.265. It is optimized for flawless image quality and intelligently manages network bitrate by refreshing only frame changes, reducing bandwidth usage.

All video formats are progressive. 4:2:0 Chroma subsampling and HDR are not supported.

Scaler

The NV-21-HU features a 4K60 4:4:4 scaler for resolution and frame rate conversions from network streams or local sources. It operates in three modes:

Connectors

Power In: Two-pin euroblock terminal for external 12 V DC, 9 A power supply (NV-21-PSU sold separately). External power supply required for USB-C device charging.
PoE/LAN: Q-LAN network connection with PoE Type 3, Class 5 capability. Device charging via USB is not available when powered via PoE.
USB-A: Supports USB HID Routing (5 V DC 900 mA).
RS-232: Three-pin euroblock terminal for extending Q-SYS Control Engine to third-party devices.
USB-C: Supports DisplayPort alt-mode video up to 4K60 4:4:4, Q-SYS Audio and Video Bridging, and device charging up to 65 W. External power supply required for device charging.
HDMI IN: Accepts video up to 4K60 4:4:4 and up to 8 channels PCM Audio.
HDMI OUT: Transmits video up to 4K60 4:4:4 and up to 8 channels PCM Audio.
Simple Mounting: Includes optional surface mounting brackets for flexible installation and airflow optimization.
