This manual contains information and important notes for safe commissioning and handling of the dust collector ABS850_230V, hereinafter referred to as machine in this document.
This manual is part of the machine and must not be removed. Save it for later reference and if you let other people use the machine, add this manual to the machine. Please pay special attention to the chapter Safety! Before first use read this manual carefully. It eases the correct use of the machine and prevents misunderstanding and damages of machine. Due to constant advancement in product design, construction, illustrations and contents may deviate slightly. If you notice any errors, please inform us.
We reserve the right to make technical changes!
Check the goods immediately after receipt and note any complaints on the consignment note when taking over the goods from the deliverer!
Transport damage must be reported separately to us within 24 hours.
HOLZMANN MASCHINEN GmbH cannot accept any liability for transport damage that has not been reported.

12 SAFETY

This section contains information and important notes on the safe commissioning and handling of the machine.
For your own safety, read this manual carefully before commissioning. This will enable you to handle the machine safely and prevent misunderstandings as well as personal injury and damage to property. In addition, observe the symbols and pictograms used on the machine as well as the safety information and hazard warnings!
12.1 Intended use of the machine
The machine is intended exclusively for the following activities:
Extraction of dust and chips from wood, wood composites or materials with similar physical properties to wood, within the prescribed technical limits.

HOLZMANN MASCHINEN GmbH accepts no responsibility or warranty for any other use or use beyond this and any resulting damage to property or injury!

12.1.1 Technical restrictions

The machine is intended for use under the following ambient conditions:

12.1.2 Prohibited applications / Dangerous misuse

· Operating the machine outdoor.

· Operating the machine without adequate physical and mental fitness.

· Operating the machine without knowledge of the operating instructions.

· Modifications to the construction of the machine.

· Extracting flammable gases (e.g. paint or varnish mist).

· Extracting flammable or explosive dusts.

· Extracting liquids.

· Extracting materials above 60° C (e.g. ash or metal chips).

· Operating the machine under fire or explosion hazardous conditions (machine can produce

ignition sparks during operation).

· Operating the machine outside the technical limits specified in this instructions.

· Removing the safely labels affixed to the machine.

· Modifying, bypassing or disabling the machine´s safety devices.

If the machine is not used for its intended purpose or if the instructions and information in this

manual are disregarded, all warranty claims and claims for damages against HOLZMANN

MASCHINEN GmbH will be invalidated.

12.1.3 User requirements

The machine is designed for operation by one person. The prerequisites for operating the machine

are physical and mental fitness as well as knowledge and understanding of the operating

instructions. Persons who, because of their physical, sensory or mental capabilities or their

inexperience or lack of knowledge, are unable to operate the machinery safely must not use it

without supervision or instruction from a responsible person.

Please note that locally applicable laws and regulations specify the minimum age of the

operator and may restrict the use of this machine! Work on electrical components or

equipment may only be carried out by a qualified electrician or under the guidance and supervision of a qualified electrician.
12.2 General safety instructions
To avoid malfunctions, damage and health, the following points must be observed when working with the machine in addition to the general rules for safe working:
· Check the machine for completeness and function, before commissioning. Only use the machine if the guards and other non-parting guards required for machining are fitted, in good operating condition and have been properly maintained.
· Choose a level, vibration-free, non-slip surface as the installation site. · Ensure sufficient space around the machine! · Ensure sufficient lighting conditions at the workplace to avoid stroboscopic effects. · Ensure a clean working environment. · Only use tools that are in perfect condition and free of cracks and other defects (e.g.
deformations). · Remove tool spanners and other adjustment tools before switching on the machine. · Keep the area around the machine free of obstructions (e.g. dust, chips, cut-off workpiece
parts, etc.). · Check the strength of the machine´s connections before each use. · Never leave the running machine unattended. Switch off the machine before leaving the
working area and secure it against unintentional or unauthorised restarting. · The machine may only be operated, maintained or repaired by persons who are familiar
with it and who have been informed about the danger arising in the course of this work. · Ensure that unauthorised persons keep an appropriate distance from the machine and, in
particular keep children away from the machine. · Never wear loose jewellery, loose clothing or accessories (e.g. tie or scarf) when working on
the machine. · Hide long hair under hair protection. · Wear tight-fit protective clothing and suitable protective equipment (eye protection, dust
mask, ear protection, gloves). · Always work carefully and with due caution and never use excessive force. · Do not overload the machine. · Stop the machine and disconnect it from the power supply before carrying out adjustment,
conversion, cleaning maintenance or servicing work, etc. Before starting work on the machine, wait until all tools or machine parts have come to a complete standstill and secure the machine against unintentional restarting. · Do not work on the machine if you are tired, unable to concentrate or under the influence of medication, alcohol or drugs! · Do not use the machine in areas where fumes from paints, solvents or flammable liquids are a potential hazard (fire or explosion hazard!). · Warning signs and/or stickers in the machine that are illegible or have been removed must be replaced immediately!
12.3 Electrical safety
· Make sure that the machine is grounded. · Only use suitable extension cables. · A damaged or tangled cable increases the risk of electric shock. Handle the cable with care.
Never use the cable to carry, pull or disconnect the machine. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. · Use proper plugs and outlets to reduce the risk of electric shock. · Water entering the machine increases the risk of electric shock. Do not expose the machine to rain or moisture.

· The machine may only be used in humid environments if the power supply is protected by a residual current circuit breaker.
· Make sure that the machine is switched off before connecting to the power supply. · Use the machine only when the ON-OFF switch is in good working order.
12.4 Special safety instructions
· Work only in well-ventilated rooms! · Keep the machine away from potential ignition sources such as open flames ­ risk of fire
and explosion! · The extraction of flammable vapours, liquids, dust, ash or chips (gases, fuel, cleaning agents,
paint residues, hydrogen, coal, magnesium, grain dust, stone dust, hot ashes, cigarette butts, etc.) is strictly prohibited. · Do not insert any objects into the dust collector plug and keep it free of deposits that could impair the dust collector power. · Removal of the protective grill is prohibited. · Inhaling wood dust is hazardous to health! Always wear a dust mask when emptying the dust bag. · Only operate the machine with a perfect filter and dust bag. Dust bags made of polyethylene must be at least 0.2 mm thick. If dust bags made of other materials are used, they must have the same mechanical strength. · When disposing of the chip waste, ensure that it is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner!
12.5 Hazard warnings
Despite intended use, certain residual risks remain. Due to the design and construction of the machine, hazardous situations may occur when handling the machines, which are identified in this operating instructions as follows:

Regardless of all safety regulations, your common sense and your appropriate technical aptitude/training are and remain the most important safety factors in the faultless operation of the machine. Safe working depends on you!

TRANSPORT

13 TRANSPORT
For a proper transport, follow the instructions and information on the transport packaging regarding the centre of gravity, attachment points, weight, means of transport to be used as well as prescribed transport position, etc. Transport the machine in its packaging to the installation site. Pay attention to the correct posture when lifting, carrying and setting down the load. Lifting and setting down
- Establish stability when lifting/setting down (legs hip-width). - Lift/set down load with knees bent and back straight. - Do not lift/set down the load in a jerky manner. Carrying - Carry the load with both hands as close to the body as possible. - Carry the load with a straight back. - When transporting the assembled machine, make sure to lift it only by the machine body
and not by the attachments. If you transport the machine with a vehicle, ensure that the load is secured appropriately!
14 ASSEMBLY
14.1 Preparation
14.1.1 Checking delivery content Check the delivery immediately for transport damage and missing parts. Report any damage or missing part to your dealer or the shipping company immediately. Visible transport damage must also be noted immediately on the delivery note in accordance with the provisions of the warranty, otherwise the goods are considered to have been properly accepted. 14.1.2 Requirements for the installation site The chosen installation site must ensure a suitable connection to the electrical mains. Observe the safety requirements and the dimensions of the machine.
14.2 Electrical connection
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Risk of injury due to dangerous electrical voltage!
 Connection of the machine, testing, maintenance and repair may only be carried out by professionally qualified personnel or under the guidance and supervision of a qualified electrician!

· Check, whether the neutral connection and the protective grounding function properly. · Check, whether the supply voltage and frequency correspond to the specification of the
machine.

NOTE
Deviation of the supply voltage and frequency! A deviation from the value of the supply voltage of ±5 % is permissible. A short-circuit fuse must be provided in the power supply system of the machine!

· Use a supply cable that fulfils the electrical requirements (e.g. H07RN, H05RN) and take the required cross-section of the supply cable from a current carrying capacity table. Pay attention to the measures for protection against mechanical damage.
· Make sure that the power supply is protected with a residual current circuit breaker. · Only connect the machine to a properly grounded outlet.

ASSEMBLY
· When using an extension cable, make sure that the dimension matches the connected load of the machine. The connection power can be found in the technical data, the correlation of cable cross-section and cable lengths can be found in the technical literature or obtain information from a specialist electrician.
· A damaged cable must be replaced immediately.
14.3 Assembly
The machine has been disassembled for transport and must be reassembled before use. Follow the instrucions below:
1. Fixing base frame Attach the base plate to the base frame of the machine (1) using 4 hexagonal screws M6×35 mm with corresponding washers and nuts.
2. Fixing side frames Fix the longer tube of the side frame with one hexagonal screw M6×35 screw and the corresponding washer and nut to the socket of the base frame (2).
Connect the shorter tube of the side frame with the two connecting plates (4) and the base frame by using 2 hexagonal screws M6×35 screws each and the corresponding washers and nuts (3).
Repeat these assembly steps on both sides of the basic frame.

3. Fixing rear plate Fix the rear plate with the 4 hexagonal screws M6×12 to the side frame (5).

4. Attaching motor with ON-OFF switch & fan housing Fix the motor with ON-OFF switch & fan housing to the side panels with 2 locking screws (6) on both sides. Support the motor with ON-OFF switch & fan housing during assembly until they are fixed.

OPERATION

5. Connecting filter bag support Fix the filter bag support to the fan housing (7).

6. Fixing filter bag Thread the bag clamp into the opening intended for it on the filter bag. Secure the filter bag with the bag clamp to the fan housing (8) by locking the spring and closing the bracket. Hook the loop of the filter bag into the hook of the filter bag support (9).

7. Fixing dust bag Slide the dust bag over the opening on the underside of the fan housing. Fix the dust bag with the bag clamp by locking the spring and closing the bracket (10). Make sure that the dust bag has approx. 3 cm overhang (10a).

8. Connecting dust hose Slide the connection adapter onto the opening on the underside of the fan housing. Use the hose clamp to fix the dust hose to the connection adapter (12).

15 OPERATION
Ensure a perfect condition of the machine by a visual inspection before each operation. Safety devices, electrical lines and operating elements must be checked very carefully. Check screw connections for damage and tight fit.
15.1 Connection to the wood working machine
NOTE

Do not work with the woodworking machine until the dust collector has reached full speed!

· Position the dust collector next to the woodworking machine so that the machine does not obstruct you when working with the woodworking machine. Ensure that the hoses are laid properly on the floor and mark unavoidable trip hazards.
· The dust hoses used must be made of flame-retardant material (DIN4102 B1) and be permanently antistatic (or earthed on both sides) and comply with the relevant safety regulations.

CLEANING, MAINTENANCE, STORAGE, DISPOSAL

· Connect the connection adapter of the dust hose to the woodworking machine (1).
· The distance between the dust collector and the woodworking machine should not exceed 10 linear meters.
15.2 Switch the machine on and off

ON-OFF switch Press the switch ­ on button (1) to switch on. Press the switch ­ off button (2) to switch off.

16 CLEANING, MAINTENANCE, STORAGE, DISPOSAL
16.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning guarantees the long life of your machine and is a prerequisite for its safe operation.
NOTE

Incorrect cleaning products can attack the finish of the machine. Do not use any solvents, nitro thinners or other cleaning products that could damage the machine´s finish. Observe the specifications and instructions of the cleaning agent manufacturer.

16.2

Remove chips and dirt particles from the machine after each use with a proper tool. Prepare the surfaces and lubricate the bare machine parts with an acid-free lubricating oil (e.g. WD40 rust inhibitor). Clean the filter bag periodically to maintain its effectiveness. Clean the dust collector plug of the unit at periodic intervals.
Maintenance
WARNING

Danger due to electrical voltage! Handling the machine with connected power supply may result in serious injury or death.
 Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before maintenance or repair work and secure it against unintentional reconnection!

The machine is low-maintenance and only a few parts have to be serviced. Malfunctions or defects which could affect your safety must be repaired immediately!
· Before each operation, check the perfect condition of the safety devices. · Regularly check the perfect and legible condition of the warning and safety labels of the
machine. · Use only proper and suitable tools. · Only use original spare parts recommended by the manufacturer. 16.2.1 Maintenance plan The type and degree of machine wear depend to a large extent on the operating conditions. The following intervals apply when using the machine within the specified limits:

16.2.2 Replacing dust bag

NOTE

Change the dust bag when it is 60-70 percent full. Only use dust bags that correspond to the dimensions of the machine. Use only 100 percent tight dust bags.

WARNING
Danger from wood dust! Inhalation of wood dust is hazardous to health!
 Always use a dust mask when replacing and emptying the dust bag!  Ensure an environmentally compatible disposal of the chip waste.
Procedure 1. Switch off the machine and wait ten minutes so that the dust particles settle. 2. Disconnect the machine from power supply. 3. Open the bag clamp. 4. Carefully pull the dust bag from the fan housing. 5. Pull the new dust bag over the edge of the fan housing. Fix the dust bag with the bag clamp by locking the spring and closing the bracket of the bag clamp. Make sure that the filter bag overlaps by approx. 3 cm and bend it over.
16.2.3 Tapping out filter bag Immediately after switching off the machine, tap the outside of the filter bag so that the filtered dust particles inside fall vertically into the dust bag. 16.2.4 Replacing filter bag
NOTE

Only use filter bags that correspond to the dimensions of the machine.

WARNING

Danger from wood dust! Inhaling wood dust is hazardous to health!
 Always use a dust protection mask when replacing the filter bag!

Procedure

1. Switch off the machine ten minutes before changing the filter bag so that the dust particles can settle.
2. Disconnect the machine from the power supply. 3. Open the bag clamp.

TROUBLESHOOTING

4. Carefully pull the filter bag from the fan housing. 5. Remove the bag clamp from the filter bag. 6. Thread the bag clamp into the opening provided in the new filter bag. 7. Pull the new filter bag over the upper edge of the fan housing. Fix the filter bag with the
bag clamp by locking the spring and closing the bracket of the bag clamp. 8. Hang the loop at the upper end of the filter bag into the hook of the collector support.
16.3 Storage
When not in use, store the machine in a dry, frost-proof and lockable place to prevent the formation of rust. Disconnect the machine from the power supply. Make sure that unauthorised persons and especially children do not have access to the machine.
NOTE

Improper storage can damage and destroy important components. Only store packed or unpacked parts under the intended ambient conditions!

16.4 Disposal

Observe the national waste disposal regulations. Never dispose of the machine, machine components or equipment in residual waste. If necessary, contact your local authorities for information regarding available disposal options. 17 TROUBLESHOOTING

WARNING

Danger due to electrical voltage! Manipulating the machine with the power supply up may result in serious injury or death.
 Before carrying out any troubleshooting work, always disconnect the machine from the power supply and secure it against unintentional recommissioning.

Many possible sources of error can be excluded in advance if the machine is properly connected to the mains. If you are unable to carry out necessary repairs properly and/or do not have the required training, always consult a specialist to solve the problem.
