"Pull to Open" Installation
This guide covers the "Pull to Open" installation for the DoorKing 6006 gate operator. The 6006 is intended for installation only on swing gates used for vehicles. Pedestrians must be supplied with a separate access opening.
Installation Measurements:
- Ideal measurements: A = 7-3/4" (19.7 cm), B = 8-1/2" (21.6 cm).
- Constraint: The sum of measurements A and B cannot be greater than 18" (45.7 cm).
- Maximum opening angle: 110°.
Bracket Mounting:
- Weld front and rear brackets directly to the gate and metal support post.
- Alternatively, if mounting brackets with sleeve anchors to the gate and wall, weld reinforcing steel plates to the brackets.
- Fully weld around entire brackets.
- The rear bracket can be removed and fits in only one direction (refer to the full manual for details).
- Actuator arm and brackets MUST be level!
- A support bar must be installed the entire length of the gate to support the pickets.
Opening Direction DIP-Switch (SW 1):
The operator MUST OPEN the gate upon initial power-up and OPEN command.
- If the operator closes the gate after an open command, shut off power and reverse the setting of SW 1, switch 1.
- Incorrect settings will prevent the operator from functioning correctly.
Control Box:
Securely mount a control box near the actuator arm with appropriate hardware (not supplied).
Refer to your chosen 115 VAC or Solar powered control box manuals for complete DIP-switch settings.
Power Input:
Connect 115 VAC or Solar Power Input. Ensure power conduit and actuator cable are properly routed.
Limit Sensors Adjustment
Power to the circuit board must be ON when adjusting the limit sensors.
Procedure:
- Manually unlock the handle and rotate it 90° (see Manual Release section).
- Manually move the gate to the desired open or closed position.
- Loosen the set screw on the limit assembly and slowly slide the assembly.
- The "SLOW DOWN" LED will light first. Continue sliding until the corresponding "LIMIT" LED on the circuit board lights up.
- Tighten the set screw.
- Manually move the gate to the other position and repeat the process with the other limit assembly.
Note: The 3 and 5 limit LEDs can function as either Open or Close limits, depending on the DIP-switch SW 1, switch 1 setting.
Tools: Supplied 3/32" Hex Wrench for limit sensors.
Manual Release
To manually operate the gate:
- Unlock the handle with a key.
- Rotate the handle 90° in either direction to release the carriage, allowing manual movement of the gate.
Note: The handle can be rotated 180° and locked facing either side of the operator for easy key access.
Wiring to Circuit Board
For single operator installations, connect to the PRIMARY connection ONLY on the 115 VAC or Solar control box circuit board.
Note: If factory-wired jumpers are present on the operator terminal, they MUST be removed.
Wire Connections:
- Wire 1 (Brown): MOTOR
- Wire 2 (Blue): MOTOR
- Wire 3 (Orange): LIMIT
- Wire 4 (Red): SLOW DOWN
- Wire 5 (Yellow): LIMIT
- Wire 6 (Green): SLOW DOWN
- Wire 7 (Green/Yellow): COMMON
- Terminal 8: COMMON (Not Used for 7-wire operator cable)
Optional Accessories:
Coaxial Cable Antenna Kit P/N 1514-073 (Sold separately) can be used for improved signal range.
Photo Sensors Height
For optimal safety, photo sensors should be mounted:
- Outside Property: 5" (12.7 cm) or less from the ground.
- Inside Property: Typically around 21" (53 cm) from the ground.
The sensor should be mounted just below the actuator arm cable.
External Entrapment Protection Devices
Entrapment Protection must be provided for the gate system where the risk of entrapment or obstruction exists. The operator will not run without one or more monitored type B1 or B2 entrapment protection devices in EACH entrapment area.
Required Devices:
- Only 1 monitored device can be connected for each cycling direction.
- An OPTIONAL Expansion Kit (sold separately) will allow connection for additional devices.
- Refer to your chosen 115 VAC or Solar powered control box manuals to wire entrapment protection devices.
Common Devices:
- Reversing Edge: Mounted along the ENTIRE end of the gate.
- Photo Sensor: Positioned to detect obstructions in the gate's path.
Note: DO NOT cycle the operator before limit sensors and DIP-switches have been adjusted, as damage could occur to the gate and operator.
