Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Pilot ­ Hybrid in TX
Summary/Objective EDM is seeking a full-time temporary (40 hours/week) UAS pilot to fill a 3-month term position with eligibility to transition to full-time permanent employment thereafter. The UAS pilot will conduct various UAS missions focused on electrical infrastructure within electric utility rights-of-way. Initial tasking will involve joining a team of existing pilots and gathering high-quality imagery of distribution power poles following established protocols. Tasking may expand to include supporting, piloting, and processing UAS LiDAR and PhoDAR data, and other missions as they arise.
This job entails working remotely, likely based in the Amarillo-Lubbock area of Texas, but other bases may be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · UAS missions and mission support, including UAS inspections of energized distribution, transmission, and substation power equipment. · Management and processing of UAS-sourced data. · Management and updating of UAS hardware and software. · Coordination of flight authorizations and waivers with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). · Communication and coordination with various project managers within EDM to ensure that goals are understood and accomplished on each mission. · Ongoing development of new UAS skills and capabilities.
Qualifications/Education/Experience: · Current Part 107 certificate. · Valid state or provincial driver's license. · Four-year college degree from an accredited college or university, preferred. Degree(s) in fields related to UAS or engineering (for the UAS aspect of the work), conservation or wildlife biology (for applications of UAS work in natural resources) preferred.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:
· This role operates in a professional office environment as well as in the field. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time and have sufficient physical ability and mobility to travel and work alone in outdoor field environments including those in remote locations as well as urban/city environments.
· Field work may include walking/hiking three or more miles a day on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties.
· This role can include exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions, exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, carrying, pushing and/or pulling light to moderate weights up to 50 pounds as well as operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
· Employee must have the ability to verbally communicate to convey and exchange information and the ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
· Travel is required, expected to comprise approximately 75% of the work (travel to project sites and some overnight travel). Must be willing to work outside 8 am-5 pm business hours.
· Full-time temporary, hourly position with a 4-month term. · There may be an opportunity to transition permanent staff at the end of the term position, depending
on performance and pending work.
