Safety Precautions
⚠️ WARNING: This unit uses a flammable refrigerant. If refrigerant leaks and comes in contact with fire or heating part, it will create harmful gas and there is risk of fire.
Read the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS carefully before operation. Service personnel are required to carefully read the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS and INSTALLATION MANUAL before operation.

- Be sure to read these "Safety Precautions" before use, as rotating parts and parts that could cause electric shock are used.
- Observe all cautionary items shown here for safety.

General Safety Warnings
- WARNING: Do not connect the power cord to an intermediate point, use an extension cord, or connect multiple devices to a single AC outlet. This may cause overheating, fire, or electric shock.
- Make sure the power plug is free of dirt and insert it securely into the outlet. A dirty plug may cause fire or electric shock.
- Do not bundle, pull, damage, or modify the power cord, and do not apply heat or place heavy objects on it. This may cause fire or electric shock.
- Do not turn the breaker OFF/ON or disconnect/connect the power plug during operation. This may create sparks, which can cause fire. After the indoor unit is switched OFF with the remote controller, make sure to turn the breaker OFF or disconnect the power plug.
- Do not expose your body directly to cool air for a prolonged length of time. This could be detrimental to your health.
WARNING: The unit should not be installed, relocated, disassembled, altered, or repaired by the user. Improper handling may cause fire, electric shock, injury, or water leakage. Consult your dealer.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent to avoid a hazard.
When installing, relocating, or servicing, ensure no substance other than the specified refrigerant (R32) enters the refrigerant circuit. Foreign substances can cause abnormal pressure rise, explosion, or injury. Using other refrigerants will cause mechanical failure, malfunction, or unit breakdown.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
? Do not insert fingers or objects into the air inlet or outlet, as the fan rotates at high speeds.
In case of an abnormal condition (e.g., burning smell), stop the air conditioner and disconnect the power plug or turn the breaker OFF. Continued operation may cause malfunction, fire, or electric shock. Consult your dealer.
If the unit does not cool or heat, refrigerant may be leaking. Stop operations, ventilate the room, and consult your dealer. For refrigerant recharging, consult a service technician.
The refrigerant (R32) is not harmful normally. However, if it leaks and contacts fire or heating parts (e.g., fan heater, kerosene heater, cooking stove), it can create harmful gas and pose a fire risk.
Never attempt to wash the inside of the indoor unit. Contact your dealer for cleaning. Unsuitable detergents can damage plastic parts, leading to water leakage. Contact with electrical parts or the motor can cause malfunction, smoke, or fire.
Store the appliance in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (open flames, operating gas or electric heaters).
Be aware that refrigerants may not have an odor.
Do not use means to accelerate defrosting or cleaning other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

The indoor unit must be installed in rooms exceeding specified floor space. Consult your dealer.
This appliance is intended for use by experts or trained users in shops, light industry, farms, or for commercial use by laypersons.
CAUTION
- ? Do not touch the air inlet or aluminum fins of the indoor/outdoor unit. This may cause injury.
- ? Do not use insecticides or flammable sprays on the unit. This may cause fire or deformation.
- ? Do not expose pets or houseplants to direct airflow. This may cause injury to them.
- ? Do not place other electric appliances or furniture under the indoor/outdoor unit. Water may drip, causing damage or malfunction.
- ? Do not leave the unit on a damaged installation stand. The unit may fall and cause injury.
- ? Do not step on an unstable bench to operate or clean the unit. You may fall and get injured.
- ? Do not pull the power cord. This may break the core wire, causing overheating or fire.
- ? Do not charge, disassemble, or throw batteries into a fire. This may cause leakage, fire, or explosion.
- Do not operate the unit for more than 4 hours at high humidity (80% RH or more) with windows or doors open. This may cause condensation, dripping, and damage to furniture. Condensation can also contribute to mold growth.
- Do not use the unit for special purposes like storing food, raising animals, growing plants, or preserving precision devices/art objects. This may cause deterioration or harm.
- Do not expose combustion appliances to direct airflow. This may cause incomplete combustion.
- ? Never put batteries in your mouth to avoid accidental ingestion, which can cause choking and poisoning.
- Before cleaning, switch OFF and disconnect the power plug or turn the breaker OFF.
- When the unit will be unused for a long time, disconnect the power plug or turn the breaker OFF. The unit may accumulate dirt, causing overheating or fire.
- Replace all remote controller batteries with new ones of the same type. Using old and new batteries together may cause overheating, leakage, or explosion.
- If battery fluid contacts skin or clothes, wash thoroughly with clean water. If it contacts eyes, wash thoroughly with clean water and seek immediate medical attention.
- Ensure good ventilation when operating with a combustion appliance. Inadequate ventilation may cause oxygen starvation.
- Turn the breaker OFF when you hear thunder or if there's a possibility of lightning strike. The unit may be damaged by lightning.
- After several seasons, perform inspection and maintenance in addition to normal cleaning. Dirt or dust can cause unpleasant odors, mold growth, or drain blockage leading to water leaks. Consult your dealer for specialized inspection and maintenance.
- ? Do not operate switches with wet hands. This may cause electric shock.
- ? Do not clean the unit with water or place water-containing objects (like a flower vase) on it. This may cause fire or electric shock.
- ? Do not step on or place objects on the outdoor unit. It may fall and cause injury.
IMPORTANT: Clean air filters every 2 weeks to prevent condensation and mold growth.
Before starting operation, ensure horizontal vanes are in the closed position. If operation starts with vanes open, they may not return to the correct position.

When the remote controller is not used, place it near the indoor unit. Only use the provided remote controller. If multiple units are in proximity, one remote might control multiple units.
Preparation Before Operation
Before operation: Insert the power supply plug into the power outlet and/or turn the breaker on.
Installing the remote controller batteries
- Press RESET.
- Remove the front lid.
- Insert AAA alkaline batteries, negative pole first.
- Install the front lid.
Ensure correct battery polarity. Do not use manganese or leaking batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. The battery replacement indicator will light up when batteries are low. Replace all batteries with new ones of the same type. Batteries typically last about 1 year.
Setting current time
- Press CLOCK.
- Press the DAY button to set the day.
- Press either the TIME or TIMER buttons to set the time. Each press changes the clock by 1 minute (10 minutes when pressed longer).
- Press CLOCK again.
Press CLOCK gently using a thin instrument.
Setting Remote Controller Exclusively for a Particular Indoor Unit
Up to 4 indoor units can be used with wireless remote controllers in a room. To operate units individually, assign a number to each remote controller matching the indoor unit number. This requires the remote controller to be powered OFF. Hold the '1-4' button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode, press '1-4' again to assign a number (1, 2, 3, or 4), then press SET to complete. The first remote to send a signal after power-on will be paired.
Selecting Operation Modes
Operation Modes
- DRY mode: Dehumidifies the room, may cool slightly. Temperature cannot be set.
- HEAT mode: Provides warm air at the desired temperature.
- FAN mode: Circulates air in the room. Recommended after COOL/DRY to dry the indoor unit.
Operation
- Press [ON/OFF] to start operation.
- Press [MODE] to cycle through operation modes: (AUTO) → (COOL) → (DRY) → (HEAT) → (FAN).
- Press [TEMP ▲] or [TEMP ▼] to set the temperature (1°C increments).
- Press [ON/OFF] to stop operation.

AUTO Mode (Auto Change Over)
The unit automatically selects COOL or HEAT mode based on the room temperature difference from the set temperature. It switches modes if the room temperature deviates by about 2°C for over 15 minutes. Not recommended for MXZ-type outdoor units if multiple indoor units are used simultaneously, as mode switching might be limited.
COOL Mode
Enjoy cool air at your desired temperature. Note: Do not operate in COOL mode at very low outside temperatures (below -10°C) to prevent water dripping and damaging furniture.
Multi System Operation Note
When multiple indoor units operate simultaneously from one outdoor unit, cooling/dry/fan and heating cannot run at the same time. If one unit is set to COOL/DRY/FAN and another to HEAT, the last selected unit goes into standby.
Fan Speed and Airflow Direction Adjustment
Fan Speed
Press [FAN] to cycle through fan speeds: (AUTO) → (Silent) → (Low) → (Med.) → (High) → (Super High).
AUTO fan speed is indicated by two short beeps. Use higher speeds for quicker cooling/heating, and lower speeds for quiet operation.
Up-down Airflow Direction
Press [VANE] to adjust vertical airflow direction. Cycles through: (AUTO) → (1) → (2) → (3) → (4) → (5) → (SWING).
- AUTO: Most efficient direction (horizontal for COOL/DRY/FAN, downward for HEAT).
- Manual: Select upper position for COOL/DRY, lower for HEAT. If lower is selected for COOL/DRY, it automatically moves upward after 0.5-1 hour to prevent condensation drip.
- SWING: Vane moves up and down intermittently.
Use the remote controller only to adjust vanes. Moving them manually can cause malfunction. When power is restored, vanes reset to a default position.
Left-right Airflow Direction
Press [WIDE VANE] to adjust horizontal airflow direction. Cycles through positions including (SWING).
I-SAVE OPERATION
A simplified function to recall preferred settings with a single press of the [i save] button. Press again to return to the previous setting.
- Press [i save] during COOL, ECONO COOL, HEAT, or NIGHT MODE to select i-save mode.
- Set the desired temperature, fan speed, and airflow direction. Two settings can be saved (one for COOL/ECONO COOL, one for HEAT).
- Press [i save] again to cancel i-save operation. It also cancels when the [MODE] button is pressed.
Use for low energy mode (setting temperature 2-3°C warmer/cooler) or to save frequently used settings.
ECONO COOL OPERATION
This feature provides a cooling effect similar to stationary airflow by automatically adjusting airflow direction and temperature. It saves energy while maintaining comfort.
Press [ECONO COOL] during COOL mode to start. The unit performs vertical swing operation. Press [ECONO COOL] again to cancel. It also cancels when the [VANE] button is pressed.
NIGHT MODE OPERATION
NIGHT MODE adjusts the operation indicator brightness, disables beep sounds, and limits outdoor unit noise.
Press [NIGHT MODE] during operation to activate. The indicator dims, beep sounds are reduced (except start/stop), and outdoor unit noise is lowered.
Press [NIGHT MODE] again to cancel.
Cooling/heating capacity may drop. Noise level may not change in all conditions. Indicator lamp may be hard to see in bright rooms.
Powerful Operation
Press [POWERFUL] during COOL or HEAT mode to start. This mode uses exclusive fan speeds and set positions for maximum airflow.
Temperature cannot be set during POWERFUL operation.
Press [POWERFUL] again to cancel. It also cancels automatically after 15 minutes or when other mode buttons are pressed.
Timer Operation (ON/OFF Timer)
Set individual ON or OFF timers for specific times.
- Press [ON] or [OFF] to set the timer. [ON] or [OFF] will blink. Ensure current time and day are set correctly.
- Press [▲] (forward) or [▼] (backward) to set the timer time (10-minute increments).
- Press [ON] or [OFF] again to cancel the timer.
ON and OFF timers can be set together. If a power failure occurs, the timer setting may be cancelled. Refer to Auto Restart Function.
Emergency Operation
When the remote controller is not usable, emergency operation can be activated via the emergency operation switch (E.O. SW) on the indoor unit.
Pressing the E.O. SW cycles through: Emergency COOL → Emergency HEAT → Stop. Default settings: Temperature 24°C, Fan speed Medium, Horizontal vane Auto.
The first 30 minutes is a test run with high fan speed. In emergency heat, fan speed gradually increases. In emergency cool, vanes reset automatically.
Auto Restart Function
If power fails or the main power is turned off, the unit automatically restarts in the same mode as before the interruption once power is restored. Timer settings are cancelled. To disable this function, consult a service representative.
Weekly Timer Operation
Set up to 4 ON/OFF timers per day, for a total of 28 timers per week.
Setting the Weekly Timer
- Ensure current time and day are correct.
- Press [SET] to enter weekly timer setting mode. [SET] blinks.
- Press [DAY] and [1-4] to select the day and timer number.
- Press [ON/OFF], [TIME], and [TEMP] buttons to set the timer (ON/OFF, time, temperature).
- Press [DAY] and [1-4] again to set for other days/numbers.
- Press [SET] to complete and transmit the settings to the indoor unit.
Press [SET] to transmit settings. Point the remote towards the unit for 3 seconds. Press [SET] once after all settings are complete. To erase all weekly timer settings, press and hold [DELETE] for 5 seconds.
Turning Weekly Timer ON/OFF
Press [WEEKLY TIMER ON/OFF] to turn the weekly timer ON or OFF. The [WEEKLY] indicator will light when ON.
Saved settings are not cleared when the weekly timer is turned OFF.
Checking Weekly Timer Setting
- Press [SET] to enter weekly timer setting mode. [SET] blinks.
- Press [DAY] or [1-4] to view the settings for a specific day or timer number.
- Press [CANCEL] to exit.
Cleaning
Instructions
- Switch off power or breaker before cleaning.
- Avoid touching metal parts.
- Do not use benzine, thinner, polishing powder, or insecticide. Use diluted neutral detergents only.
- Do not use scrubbing brushes or hard sponges.
- Do not soak or rinse the horizontal vane.
- Do not use water hotter than 50°C.
- Do not expose parts to direct sunlight, heat, or fire to dry.
- Do not apply excessive force on the fan, as it may cause cracks or breakage.
Air Filter (Air Purifying Filter)
Clean every 2 weeks. Remove dirt by vacuum cleaner or rinse with water. Dry well in shade after washing.
Front Panel Cleaning
- Lift the front panel until it clicks.
- Hold hinges and pull to remove.
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth or rinse with water. Do not soak for more than two hours. Dry well in shade before reinstalling.
- Reinstall the front panel by reversing the removal procedure. Close securely.
Air Cleaning Filter (Silver-ionized air purifier filter)
- Every 3 months: Remove dirt by vacuum cleaner. If dirt cannot be removed, soak the filter and frame in lukewarm water before rinsing. Dry well in shade.
- Every year: Replace with a new air cleaning filter (Part Number: MAC-2370FT-E) for best performance.
IMPORTANT: Clean filters regularly for best performance and to reduce power consumption. Dirty filters can cause condensation and mold growth.

Wi-Fi Interface Setting Up (VGK type only)
This Wi-Fi interface communicates status and controls commands from MELCloud by connecting to the indoor unit.
- Open the front panel and remove the Wi-Fi interface.
- Set up a connection between the Wi-Fi interface and your Router. Refer to the SETUP MANUAL and SETUP QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE. Visit www.melcloud.com/Support for manuals.
- Put the Wi-Fi interface back and close the front panel after setup.
- For MELCloud User Manual, visit www.melcloud.com/Support.
Ensure your Router supports WPA2-AES encryption. Read and accept Wi-Fi service terms and conditions. The interface will not transmit data until registration. Do not use for critical cooling/heating applications. Record Wi-Fi interface settings. Reset to factory default upon relocation or disposal.
Mitsubishi Electric's Wi-Fi interface is designed for MELCloud. Third-party interfaces are not compatible. Mitsubishi Electric is not responsible for system issues arising from third-party interfaces or services.

When You Think That Trouble Has Occurred
If the unit does not recover from a problem after checking these items, stop use and consult your dealer.

When the Air Conditioner is Not Going to Be Used for a Long Time
- Operate in COOL mode at the highest temperature setting or in FAN mode for 3-4 hours to dry the inside of the unit.
- Press [ON/OFF] to stop operation.
- Turn off the breaker and/or disconnect the power supply plug.
- Remove all batteries from the remote controller.
When using the air conditioner again:
- Clean the air filter.
- Check that the air inlet and outlet of the indoor and outdoor units are not blocked.
- Check that the earth connection is correct.
- Refer to "PREPARATION BEFORE OPERATION" and follow instructions.
Installation Place and Electrical Work
Installation Place
Avoid installing in places with:
- Much machine oil.
- Salty air (seaside).
- Sulfide gas (hot springs, sewage).
- Oil splashes or oily smoke (cooking areas, factories).
- High-frequency or wireless equipment.
- Blocked outdoor unit airflow.
- Operation sound or air disturbing neighbors.
Recommended indoor unit mounting height: 1.8 m to 2.3 m. Consult dealer if impossible.
Do not operate during interior construction/finishing or floor waxing. Ventilate the room well afterward to prevent volatile elements from adhering to the unit, causing water leakage or dew scattering.
Wi-Fi Interface Installation Notes: Do not use near medical electrical equipment (pacemakers) or automatic control devices (doors, fire alarms). Keep at least 20 cm distance from users/bystanders. Do not use near other wireless devices, microwaves, or cordless phones.
Electrical Work
- Provide an exclusive circuit for the air conditioner's power supply.
- Observe breaker capacity.
- Consult your dealer for any questions.
Installation Location Diagrams:
- Fluorescent Lamps: Keep as far apart as possible to prevent interference.
- TVs/Radios: Maintain a distance of at least 3m from outdoor unit to antennas, or more if reception is weak, to prevent interference.
- General: Keep a space to prevent picture distortion or noise. Ensure optimal efficiency and longevity by installing in a well-ventilated, dry place (1m clearance from walls, 100mm/200mm clearance for airflow).
