This document provides the user manual and operating instructions for the Melitta LOOK M 652 filter coffee maker. It covers preparation, cleaning, maintenance, safety, and warranty information.
The product is identified by the model TYP M 652, operating on 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz, with a power of 900 W. It is manufactured in China.

Before Preparing Your First Cup of Coffee
- Read the operating and safety instructions carefully.
- Check that your home's voltage corresponds with the information at the bottom of the coffeemaker.
- Clean the coffeemaker by running two complete brewing cycles with clear water only (without coffee).
Coffee Preparation
- Insert the plug. The cord can be lengthened or shortened using the cable storage mechanism `()`.
- Open the filter lid `()`. For Look de Luxe & Look Selection models, open the filter lid by pressing it `()`.
- Fill the water tank `()` with the desired amount of cold water. Refer to the scale on the water tank or glass jug `()` for measurement.
- Fold the filter bag 1 x 4® `()` and place it in the filter holder `()`.
- Scoop ground coffee into the filter bag. Recommendation: 1 coffeemeasure (approx. 6g) per cup.
- Close the filter lid. For Look de Luxe & Look Selection models, select your preferred coffee strength – from mild to strong – using the Aroma-Selector `()`.
- Place the glass jug into the appliance. The drip-stop `()` is now activated `()`.
- Switch on the appliance. The on/off switch will light up `()`.
- While the appliance is switched on, the warming plate keeps the coffee warm. The LOOK de luxe model features an automatic shut-off function, turning off after 2 hours. For optimal coffee taste, it is advisable not to keep coffee warm for more than 30 minutes.
- Switch off the appliance between brewing cycles and allow it to cool down for approximately 5 minutes.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Always remove the plug from the socket `()`.
- Never immerse the appliance or its cord in water `()`.
Clean the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid.
The glass jug and filter insert are dishwasher-proof.
Descaling
Regular descaling ensures the perfect operation of the appliance. It is recommended to descale the appliance after every 40 filtrations. Use Swirl® Bio Descaler or Swirl® Quick Descaler according to the package instructions.
Safety Instructions
- When the appliance is switched on, certain parts (e.g., the warming plate) become hot. Avoid touching them to prevent burns.
- Always keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
- Ensure the power cord does not come into contact with the hot warming plate.
- Always pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning or if you will be absent for an extended period.
- Never immerse the appliance in water.
- The glass jug is not microwave-proof.
- Do not use hot water; only fill the water tank with fresh, cold water.
- Do not open the filter lid during the coffee brewing process.
- The replacement of the power cord and all other repairs must be carried out only by authorized Melitta Customer Service Centres or by a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
Melitta Guarantee
For this coffeemaker, Melitta grants a guarantee under the following conditions:
- The guarantee period is 24 months from the date of purchase. It is valid only if the purchase date is confirmed by the dealer’s stamp and signature on the guarantee card or by submitting the proof of purchase/receipt.
- Within the guarantee period, Melitta will eliminate any proven defects resulting from material or manufacturing faults, either by repairing or exchanging defective parts or the entire appliance. Claims must be reported within 4 weeks of detection. The guarantee period is not extended by a guarantee claim. Replaced parts become the manufacturer's property. Freight, packaging, and other incidental costs related to guarantee service are covered.
- The guarantee does not cover defects not attributable to the manufacturer, including those arising from improper use (e.g., incorrect voltage/current), inadequate maintenance, or normal wear and tear. It also excludes damage from calcification (regular descaling is necessary), glass breakage, or faults that negligibly affect the appliance's value or operation.
- The guarantee is void if unauthorized third parties perform repairs or if non-original spare parts are used.
- The guarantee is valid only in the country of purchase. In case of a guarantee claim, return the complete appliance, preferably in its original packaging, with the filled-in guarantee card, proof of purchase, and a description of the fault to the Melitta Customer Service Centre or an authorized dealer.
- Claims for damages, including consequential damages, are excluded unless legally mandated. Consumer rights from the sales contract with the seller are not affected by this guarantee.
