Note: The minimum firmware version for the 8-Zone LAN Expander has been updated to 3.2.0 due to bugfixes for power cycle and siren tamper behaviors.

New Features

ILAM (Intelligent LAN Access Module) Support

The Inception system now supports the Intelligent LAN Access Module (ILAM), a 2-door access control module expandable up to 8 doors. It supports various readers (Wiegand, SIFER, OSDP) and includes on-board lock outputs, inputs, and DOTL outputs. The ILAM offers offline operation mode for limited access control when connection to the Inception system is lost. Access events are synchronized back upon reconnection.

Wireless Door Support – Assa Abloy Aperio

The system now includes a bi-directional interface to the Assa Abloy Aperio wireless locking system via the ILAM's Reader RS-485 port, providing full capability for Aperio wireless doors. This reduces installation costs and offers various door furniture options. Configuration is similar to traditional wired doors.

Feature Updates

Swap Input Active and Tamper States

Hardware inputs can optionally swap active and tamper states. This is useful for sensors that behave differently from standard EOL logic. The 'Invert Active and Secure' checkbox has been replaced with a dropdown for this configuration.

Issues Resolved

  • Storage Blocks Stuck in Secure Pending: Fixed an issue where Storage Blocks might not transition from 'Some Units Secure Pending' to 'All Units Secure' when a unit was marked as 'Vacant'.
  • SLAM Offline REX/REN Required Powercycle: SLAM offline REX/REN configuration is now applied instantly, without requiring a module re-initialization.

Cyber Security Updates

Two security issues have been resolved. Inner Range recommends keeping firmware up to date.

Version 5.2.0 (July 2023)

Inception 5.2.0 adds features, updates, and bugfixes for Storage Units and Storage Blocks. Notable additions include a new Alarm Cancel option for Areas, Invalid Certificate handling for HTTP connections, and door permissions distinguishing between Entry and Exit.

Note: The minimum firmware version for LAN Ethernet Bridge has been updated to 1.1.0 for improved connectivity.

New Features

Storage Unit Access Report

A new report type, 'Storage Unit Control', is available under [System > Reports] for filtering and reporting Storage Unit access events. It allows differentiation between Storage Units, Users, and event types within a specified timeframe.

Feature Updates

Storage Block Delay for Output Control

A new 'Output Off Delay Time' option for Storage Blocks allows a delay before outputs turn off. When set to 'None', outputs turn off immediately when units are secure. Other values provide a delay, useful for scenarios where a person needs time to exit before lights turn off.

Storage Units Only Secure with No Activity

Storage Units now default to securing only after all inputs have secured. If an input is in alarm, the unit enters a 'Secure Pending (Active Inputs)' state until unlocked or all inputs are sealed. This addresses scenarios with multiple people in a unit.

Storage Unit Latched Alarm State

Storage Units no longer automatically restore to the Secure state upon resealing all inputs. Once in Alarm, a unit remains in alarm until unlocked or a 'Clear Alarms' action is performed. This change prevents units from reverting to Secure state if an intruder breaches and then reseals an input.

Area Option to Cancel Alarm on All Inputs Secure

A new Area option, 'Cancel Alarm State on All Inputs Secure', automatically clears an Area's state when all monitored inputs are sealed. This sends an 'Alarm Cancelled' event and stops sirens/strobes, designed for areas monitoring latched inputs.

Invalid Certificate HTTPS Support for HTTP Send Connection

A 'Require Valid HTTPS Certificate' checkbox has been added to the HTTP Send connection type. When unchecked (default), HTTPS connections are performed regardless of the remote server's certificate source, allowing connections to systems with self-signed certificates.

Separate Door Permissions for Entry vs Exit

Access door permissions are now split into 'Entry' and 'Exit' permissions, allowing separate or combined assignment. This provides greater flexibility in configuring access rules.

Issues Resolved

  • No Review for Storage Unit Failed Control: Review events are now logged for scenarios where operators attempt to secure a Storage Unit without permission, broken down into 4 event types.
  • Ethernet Bridge Connection Reliability: The LAN Ethernet Bridge can now re-establish TCP connections to the Inception Controller without modules briefly dropping offline.

Version 5.1.2 (June 2023)

Inception 5.1.2 resolves issues in the 5.1.1 release concerning reports, storage blocks, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Service Mode. Additional Door Timed Unlock options and a floating save button have been added.

Note: The minimum firmware version for Standard LAN Access Modules (SLAMs) has been updated to 4.0.7 for additional card packet support.

Feature Updates

Door Control Timed Unlock Options

Doors can now be timed unlocked for longer durations, with support for 8/10/12 hour durations added to [State / Control > Control Doors > Advanced > Timed Unlock Duration] and [Automated Actions > Automation > Automated Actions > Control Door Action > Timed Duration].

Floating Save Button

A floating save button now appears at the bottom of windows with unsaved changes, remaining visible while scrolling. This allows for convenient saving without returning to the toolbar.

Issues Resolved

  • History Reports in Negative UTC Timezones: History reports can now be generated correctly on systems with negative time zones.
  • Storage Block Time Values: 'Unit Unlocked Too Long Time' and 'Unit Auto-Resecure Time' logic is now correctly disabled when the parent storage block field is set to 'None'.

  • Send PIN for Duress User: The 'Send PIN' button is no longer shown for Duress User configuration, as it was not applicable.

Version 5.0.1 (August 2022)

Inception release 5.0.1 resolves issues identified in the 5.0.0 release.

Issues Resolved

  • Temporary Disarm could Fully Disarm Area: Fixed an issue where consecutive temporary disarm swipes could cause an area to disarm indefinitely. This is now resolved, and review messages accurately reflect temporary disarms.
  • Permissions Limited to 1000: Resolved an issue where the permission configuration dialog would be empty if over 1000 items were added to a Permission Group.
  • OSDP / SIFER Reader Periodic Reconnection: Resolved an issue where OSDP and SIFER readers would occasionally disconnect and reconnect. Readers now silently re-establish connections after timeouts without unnecessary messages.
  • Completed Battery Tests Trigger Item Changed Event: Battery Test completions no longer erroneously trigger 'Item Changed' events or notifications.
  • Module State Does Not Persist Over Power Cycles: Resolved an issue where module states were not retained after power cycling; module state now persists between power cycles.
