Key Product Lines
The VLT® FlexMotion™ system comprises three main product lines that can be combined according to specific needs:
VLT® Multiaxis Servo Drive MSD 520
The MSD 520 system is a generic central servo solution forming the basis of the VLT® FlexMotion™ concept. Its flexibility and modularity in hardware and software allow machine builders to design machines according to application needs. It minimizes cabinet space, cable length, and installation time while maximizing performance, precision, and modularity. The system can be used as a stand-alone central concept or in a mixed system with ISD 520 and DSD 520. Modules are available in two frame sizes (50 mm and 100 mm wide) for optimized space requirements. It features a unique Click and Lock mounting concept for easy and fail-safe installation, integrating DC-link and control voltage supply in the backplate.

VLT® Power Supply Module PSM 520
The PSM 520 module generates the 565-680 V DC-link voltage and is available in three power sizes (10, 20, or 30 kW) with 200% overload capability. Two PSM 520 units can be installed in parallel for up to 60 kW output. It connects to ISD 520 and DSD 520 via a hybrid feed-in cable to the MSD 520 system, supporting modular machine architectures. An optional Decentral Access Module (DAM) can be integrated.

VLT® Servo Drive Modules SDM 521 and SDM 522
The SDM 521 is a single-axis servo drive, and the SDM 522 is a double-axis servo drive, available in multiple power sizes. They support a wide range of feedback options for preferred PM or ASM motors, or can run without feedback. Features include digital I/Os and integrated Safe Torque Off (STO). Functional safety over fieldbus and additional I/O are available as factory options. Modules are available in 50 mm (FS1) and 100 mm (FS2) widths.

VLT® Expansion Module EXM 520
The EXM 520 module allows the MSD 520 system to be split into two cabinets, with a maximum distance of 5 meters between them. This supports a modular machine architecture.

VLT® Integrated Servo Drive ISD 520
The ISD 520 combines a servo motor and servo drive into one compact unit, ideal for applications like turntables, labeling, capping, and food/pharmaceutical packaging. It is powered by the VLT® Power Supply Module PSM 520. The Plug and Twist hybrid cabling concept simplifies installation, reducing cables and eliminating distribution boxes. It features a smooth, easy-to-clean surface, IP67 enclosure, and 3M7 vibration resistance, making it suitable for demanding environments and rotating applications.

VLT® Decentral Servo Drive DSD 520
The DSD 520 is a compact servo drive installed close to, but separate from, the motor. It connects to motors via cables and optimizes cabinet space while improving system flexibility with a wide range of feedback options and compatibility with PM and induction motors. It is powered by the VLT® Power Supply Module PSM 520 with the integrated Decentral Access Module (DAM) option. Like the ISD 520, it uses the Plug and Twist hybrid cabling concept for simplified installation and features IP67 enclosure and 3M7 vibration resistance.
