Chapter 1: About ColorNavigator 7
ColorNavigator 7 is dedicated software for EIZO "ColorEdge" color management monitors, designed for excellent color display. It enables monitor calibration, target creation and editing, and efficient management of multiple monitors.
Features
- Targets per Color Mode: ColorNavigator 7 allows targets to be adjusted for each color mode, unlike ColorNavigator 6 which managed targets within a single CAL Mode. This provides greater flexibility in setting specific color parameters for different applications.
- Easy Display State Switching: After calibration, users can easily switch monitor color modes using the monitor's control buttons.
- Two Target Types: Targets are available in "Standard Mode" (STD) for quick calibration and "Advanced Mode" (ADV) for fine-tuning and higher accuracy.
- Simple UI: The default interface displays basic functions, with advanced features like CMYK validation, sensor correlation, and Log View LUT emulation accessible via an "Extension" menu.
Standard Mode vs. Advanced Mode
Feature | Standard Mode | Advanced Mode |
---|---|---|
Calibration Speed | Completed in a short period. Calibrating one target calibrates all targets in Standard Mode. | Offers various gamma adjustment options and 6-color adjustment for fine-tuning. Targets require individual calibration. |
Validation | N/A | Monitor status is measured after calibration and verified against a validation target. |
Major Applications | Video creation, web content creation, photography printing, digital photography editing. | Commercial applications requiring high accuracy, such as print proofing. |
Adjustment Items | Brightness, White point, Gamut, Gamma (EOTF) | Brightness, White point, Black level, Gamut, Gamma (EOTF) (including gray balance and LUT) |
Manually Adjustable Items | Brightness, White point | Brightness, White point, 6 Colors, Black level*¹, Gamma (EOTF)*¹, Lightness*² |
*¹ Adjustable when Gamma (EOTF) priority is set to "Fixed gamma".
*² Available only for monitors with lightness control feature.
Note: Targets from ColorNavigator 6 are migrated to ColorNavigator 7 and used as "Advanced Mode" targets.
