Introduction
This guide details the replacement of the fuel lines, grommet, fuel filter, ventilator, purge bulb, and gas cap vent gasket for an Echo SRM-225 trimmer. All these components are typically included in an Echo Fuel Line Repower Kit.
Tools Required:
- Phillips #2 Screwdriver
- T27 Torx Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver
Parts Required:
- Echo Fuel Line Repower Kit
Step 1 - Remove the air filter
Important Safety Note: Ensure any gasoline in the tank is emptied into an appropriate container before commencing work on the equipment.
Twist the knob on the air filter counter-clockwise and remove it.

Step 2 - Disconnect and remove fuel lines
Disconnect the fuel lines from the carburetor by pulling firmly.
After the lines are disconnected, use a flathead screwdriver or a pair of pliers to carefully pry the grommet from the gas tank.
(Image description: Three images show the process of disconnecting the fuel lines from the carburetor and removing the grommet from the gas tank.)
Step 3 - Inserting new grommet with fuel lines
It may be a tight fit. Applying a small amount of oil or grease to the grommet can help it slide in more easily.
Insert the fuel filter through the small hole in the gas tank.
Use your fingers to reset the grommet into the fuel tank. This may require some effort.

Step 4 - Reattaching fuel lines
Attach the black fuel line firmly to the inner hose attachment.
Attach the yellow fuel line firmly to the outer hose attachment.
The black hose with the white attachment should slide into the indicated area.
(Image description: Three images show the correct placement of the black and yellow fuel lines onto the carburetor attachments. A circled area highlights the specific connection point for the black hose.)
Step 5 - Replacing purge bulb
Loosen the two screws holding the carburetor using a stardrive bit, turning counter-clockwise.
(Note: The images show the air filter housing removed for better visibility; this step is not necessary for the actual replacement.)
Remove the four screws holding the old purge bulb by turning counter-clockwise.
Remove the plate holding the purge bulb.
The old purge bulb should come out easily. Replace it with the new one.

Step 6 - Replacing vent cap gasket
Unscrew and remove the gas cap. The plastic piece that keeps it attached will bend and allow it to pull out of the tank.
Use a screwdriver or needle-nose pliers to pry out the old gasket.
Replace with the new gasket, using your fingers to position it correctly.
