Hertz Marine Comp-Coax-Sub Owner's Manual
Brand: Hertz
Product Type: Marine Audio Speakers
Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the proper installation and use of Hertz marine audio systems, designed to deliver an exceptional "Sound Experience". Hertz products are manufactured by Elettromedia.
Safety and Installation Guidelines
General Safety:
- Always wear protective eyewear when using tools.
- Keep the product in its original packaging until ready for final installation to prevent accidental damage.
- Never install components in the engine compartment.
- Before starting installation, turn off the head unit and all other audio system devices to avoid potential damage.
- Ensure the chosen installation location does not interfere with the normal operation of the vehicle's mechanical or electrical devices.
Mounting and Installation:
- All components must be firmly secured to the vehicle/vessel structure. Ensure your installation is solid and safe.
- Do not install loudspeakers where they may be exposed to excessive water, humidity, dust, dirt, or immersion.
- Do not install tweeters without their protective grille.
- Avoid installing components or running cables near the vehicle's electrical box or other mechanical/electronic devices.
- Exercise extreme caution when drilling or cutting into the vehicle/vessel chassis, ensuring no essential cables or structural elements are present in or under the selected area.
- When routing cables, ensure they do not contact sharp edges or moving mechanical parts. Secure and protect cables along their entire length with self-extinguishing insulation.
- Use only cables with the proper section (AWG) indicated for the power supply.
- Protect cables passing through chassis holes with rubber rings (grommets). Provide adequate protection for cables running near heat-generating devices.
- Do not run wires outside the vehicle/vessel.
- Use top-quality cables, connectors, and accessories as found in the Connection catalogue.
Water Resistance:
These speakers are designed to be water and spray resistant but not submersible or resistant to high-pressure water spray. Exercise care when washing your boat to avoid damaging the speakers. Do not install on submersibles or vessels likely to be submerged.
Tweeter and Lighting
The tweeters and lighting circuit are permanently fixed to the grille. Do not use the product without the grille unless specified. Do not attempt to remove the tweeter or lighting LEDs, as any damage caused will not be covered under warranty.
Tweeter Protection: The crossover includes an electronic circuit to protect the tweeter from overload. If the tweeter disconnects due to overload, reduce the volume for a few seconds to reset the protection circuit.
Wiring Information
The manual provides diagrams for LED lighting control and speaker connection configurations (Series, Parallel, Mixed). Ensure correct voltage (+12.5 Vdc max for LEDs) and use appropriate fuses for wiring. Pay attention to polarity (+/-) when connecting speakers to the amplifier.
