Parts
- Indicating light: Shows the working state; it illuminates only after the timer has been set.
- Timer: Set steaming food time within 75 minutes; a bell will be heard after finishing steaming food.
- Filling water spout: Facilitates filling water into the reservoir; a spout is on both the left and right sides of the reservoir.
- Reservoir: Holds water for steaming food; do not place any other liquid in the reservoir.
- Drip tray: Prevents water condensation and food liquids from dripping back to the reservoir to ensure the water in the reservoir is clean.
- Steam column: Numbered for identification. The lower steam column is numbered "1", and the medium and upper are numbered "2" and "3" respectively.
- Steam plate: Each steam column has a corresponding steam plate and can be combined into a Steam assembly. Designed to be detachable for easy cleaning.
- Steam egg socket: Designed for steaming eggs easily; place the egg vertically. Each steam plate has six steam egg sockets.
- Rice pan: Can be placed on any steam plate to cook rice. For space-saving, it can be stored in the reservoir when not in use, but should be overturned.
- Steamer lid: Features a convenient knob on top to avoid scalding when removed. It matches any steam support.
- Tube sleeve: Covers the heating element, enabling rapid water boiling.
- Base: Contains the electronic components of the appliance.
Before the First Use
Before using the food steamer for the first time, clean all parts (steam column, steam plate, drip tray, steamer lid, etc.) thoroughly with warm soapy water and rinse. Fill the reservoir to the max mark, assemble all parts, and operate for about 30 minutes, then discard the water.
Using Food Steamer
- Place the food steamer on a stable, level surface away from walls.
- Fill the reservoir with water according to food needs. Minimum mark steams for ~20 minutes; maximum mark steams for ~60 minutes. Do not exceed the MAX level on the water gauge. If steam production reduces, add water. Note: Do not add salt, pepper, flavoring, essence, wine, or other liquids to the reservoir.
- Install the tube sleeve in the center of the inner reservoir with the larger diameter part facing downwards, then install the drip tray on top.
- The appliance can be used in three ways:
- Using only the lower steam assembly.
- Using three steam assemblies together, in numbered order.
- Using two steam assemblies, with the middle assembly fitting on the lower one.
- Cover with the steamer lid.
- Plug into the outlet. Note: Do not operate without steam assemblies and steamer lid in place.
- Set the timer; the indicator light will illuminate. Steam will be produced in several minutes; condensation during steaming is normal. Note: During operation, do not touch the base, steam assemblies, or steamer lid; always use gloves when handling the food steamer.
- When steaming is complete, the timer will return to OFF, a bell will sound, and the working indicator will extinguish.
- After steaming, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before removing the drip tray. Note: Be careful when removing the drip tray, as water in the reservoir and drip tray may still be very hot.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning.
- Wash steam assemblies, steamer lid, drip tray, and rice pan in hot soapy water, rinse, and dry completely.
- Do not clean any part with abrasive cleaners such as metal scouring pads or scouring powder.
- Do not immerse the reservoir in water. Pour warm water into the reservoir, rinse thoroughly, discard water, and dry with a soft cloth. All parts except the reservoir can be cleaned in a dishwasher, but continual dishwasher cleaning may reduce polish.
- Store the food steamer after all parts have cooled completely in a dry location, winding the cord into a coil and securing it.
Boil-Dry Protection
If the food steamer operates without water, the boil-dry protection will automatically switch off the power. Allow the appliance to cool before refilling with cold water.
Removal of Mineral Deposits
After 2-3 months of use, mineral deposits may build up. Descale the reservoir to prolong product life.
- Fill the reservoir with a mixture of vinegar and water to the maximum mark. Do not use other chemicals.
- Ensure the drip tray, steam assemblies, and steamer lid are in place.
- Set the timer for approximately 20-25 minutes. If vinegar overflows, unplug, switch off the timer, and reduce the vinegar amount.
- When the timer rings, unplug and allow the unit to cool before pouring out the vinegar.
- Rinse the reservoir several times with cold water and clean other parts as described in Cleaning and Maintenance.
Tips
- Steaming time may need adjustment at high altitudes.
- Steaming times in recipes are references; actual times depend on food size, location, freshness, and taste.
- Single-layer steaming is faster than multi-layer; larger quantities take longer.
- For best results, select proper food sizes. Place smaller items on upper steam columns if sizes vary greatly.
- Do not overfill steam assemblies; ensure space for maximum steam flow.
- When steaming large quantities, stir food halfway through with a long-handled tool.
- Save liquids in the drip tray for soups, sauces, or gravy.
- Defrost frozen meat or poultry before steaming.
- Steaming times in recipes are based on cold water.
- Inner steam assemblies can be used for fruits, vegetables, pudding, and quick bread.
- When using two steam assemblies, place food needing longer steaming time in the lower assembly.
- When using three assemblies, place foods with consistent flavors together. For meat and vegetables, place meat in the lower layer to prevent gravy from dripping onto vegetables.
- Steaming time for the upper assembly may be longer. Start longer-cooking foods in the lower assembly if cooking times differ. Always use the steamer lid.
