Installation Considerations and Precautions

Instructions in this document cannot be guaranteed to comply with all international and national regulations. It is the responsibility of the installer to follow all applicable international and national regulations when installing Sleipner products.
Recommendations are guidelines only. Sleipner recommends obtaining advice from a person familiar with the particular vessel and applicable regulations.

If required by local regulation, electrical work must be done by a licensed professional.
Health and safety procedures must be followed during installation.
Faulty installation of Sleipner products will render all warranties given by Sleipner Motor AS.
Important Notes:
- These panels will only work with Side-Power thrusters with a built-in electronic control box and a 4/5 lead control cable system.
- Display area is waterproof when installed correctly. Never submerge the entire control panel unit in water as this will damage the product and cause a short-circuit.

Control Panel Descriptions
Control Panel 8950
Features 'Port' and 'Starboard' side thrust engagement. Double 'ON' buttons activate control, 'OFF' button deactivates. Includes LED indicator.
Control Panel 8960
Features 'Port' and 'Starboard' side thrust engagement. Double 'ON' buttons activate control, 'OFF' button deactivates. Includes LED indicator.
Control Panel 8955

Control Panel 8965

Control Panel Installation
General Steps:
- Use the supplied cut-out template to mark the area to remove on your control dash.
- Cut out the area per template for the control panel. If the front surface around the cut-out is jagged or chipped, use a sealant to assist the gasket.
- Place the gasket to the back face of the panel.
- Plug cables into the connectors at the rear of the control panel.
- Insert the control panel in place and fasten screws.
- Insert the control panel's covering caps.

Visual Wiring Diagram
Wiring diagrams are provided for systems with an automatic main switch and with a manual main switch. These diagrams illustrate the connections for bow and stern thrusters, control panels, Y-connectors, fuses, and switches.
Important Notes on Wiring:
- Check that there is no electrical connection between the electro motor body and the positive terminal, and between the electro motor body and the negative terminal on the motor. Contact skilled personnel for guidance if unsure.
- Common negative MUST be wired when using control panel 8940 and 8909C if separate battery banks are installed (Bow and Stern thrusters combined).
- To define appropriate (-) cable and fuse size, contact a skilled electrician.

Warranty Statement
Sleipner Motor AS warrants equipment against defects in workmanship and materials for two years (Leisure Use) or one year (Commercial Use) from the date of purchase.
Warranty Exclusions: The warranty does not apply to defects or damages caused by:
- Faulty installation or hook-up
- Abuse or misuse of the equipment
- Exposure to excessive heat, salt or fresh water spray, or water immersion (unless specifically designed as waterproof)
Making a Claim:
- Contact the dealer or service center where purchased, or find one at www.sleipnergroup.com.
- Provide a detailed written statement of the defect, product identification, serial number, date and place of purchase, and installer's name and address. Proof of purchase is required.
- Make the equipment available for troubleshooting and repair at the Warrantor's or an authorized service representative's premises.
Warranty Service:
- If the defect is due to faulty material or workmanship, the equipment will be repaired or replaced at Sleipner's option at no charge.
- No refund will be granted unless Sleipner is unable to remedy the defect after reasonable attempts.
- Warranty service must be performed only by Sleipner or an authorized service representative. Any attempt to remedy the defect by anyone else voids the warranty.
Limitations of Liability: Sleipner Motor AS is not responsible for injury to persons, damage to property, loss of income or profit, or any other incidental, consequential, or resulting damage or cost claimed to have been incurred through the use or sale of the equipment, including any failure or malfunction or damages arising from collision.
This warranty provides specific legal rights, and other rights may vary by country.
