Quick Reference Guide
1. Product Layout
HM65X
The HM65X digital mobile radio features the following:
- Aviation Port: Located on the front of the radio.
- LED Indicator: On-Off indicator on the front.
- On-Off Key: Front-facing key for power control.
- DIGITAL MOBILE RADIO: Label indicating the device type.
- RF Antenna Connector: Located on the rear for antenna connection.
- Power Inlet: Rear-facing port for power connection.
- Accessory Connector: Rear-facing port for accessories.
- GPS Antenna Connector: Rear-facing port for GPS antenna connection.
Palm Microphone
The palm microphone allows for radio operation and includes:
- Aviation Port: Connection point on the microphone.
- LCD Display: Shows radio information.
- Key: Programmable keys (TK, P1, P2) can be assigned as shortcuts to radio features by your dealer.
- Microphone: For voice transmission.
- Speaker: For audio output.
- Push-to-Talk (PTT) Key: Used to initiate transmissions.
- Buckle: For attaching the microphone.
2. Basic Operation
2.1 Turn On or Off the Radio
Long press the On-Off key on the HM65X or the palm microphone to turn the radio on or off.
2.2 Adjust the Volume
You can adjust the volume using the microphone:
- On the home screen, press the < key to decrease the volume or the > key to increase the volume.
- Press the key to locate the cursor to [volume indicator] and then press the < or > key.
2.3 Select the Zone
- On the home screen, press the key to locate the cursor to the zone number, and then press the < or > key.
- Press the preprogrammed Zone Up or Zone Down key.
2.4 Select the Channel
- On the home screen, press the key to locate the cursor to the channel number, and then press the < or > key.
- Press the preprogrammed Channel Up or Channel Down key.
- To directly select a preset channel, press the preprogrammed Preset Channel key.
3. Status Indications
3.1 LCD Icons
Icon | Description |
---|---|
Tx | The radio detects no signal. |
[Signal Bars] | More bars indicate stronger signal. |
[Low Power Mode] | The radio operates in low power mode. |
[High Power Mode] | The radio operates in high power mode. |
[Scanning] | The radio is scanning. |
[Emergency] | The radio is in emergency mode. |
[Private Call] | The radio is on a private call. |
[Making/Receiving Private Call] | The radio is making or receiving a private call. |
[Group Call] | The radio is on a group call. |
[Making/Receiving Group Call] | The radio is making or receiving a group call. |

3.2 LED Indicator
LED Indicator | Radio Status |
---|---|
Flashes green | The radio is being turned on. |
Glows green | The radio is receiving. |
Glows red | The radio is transmitting. |
Flashes orange slowly | The radio is scanning or roaming. |
Flashes orange rapidly | The radio is in emergency mode. |
Glows orange | Call hang time: No voice is being transmitted or received during a call. Within such a period, you can press and hold the PTT key and speak. |
Flashes blue (Every 3s) | The BT feature is enabled, but no BT device is connected. |
Flashes blue (Every 1.5s) | A BT device is connected. |
Flashes blue (Every 0.1s) | The BT feature is being disabled. |
4. Call Services
To ensure optimal voice quality on the receiving radio, keep the microphone 2.5 cm to 5 cm away from your mouth during speaking.
4.1 Make a Call on Digital Channel
- On the home screen, select a digital channel, and then press and hold the PTT key.
- Press the programmed One Touch Call key, and then press and hold the PTT key.
4.2 Make a Call on Analog Channel
- Call Without Signaling
- On the home screen, select an analog channel.
- Press and hold the PTT key.
- Call with Signaling
- On the home screen, select an analog channel.
- Press the PTT key or the preprogrammed One Touch Call key.
4.3 Emergency Call
The Emergency feature is configured and enabled by your dealer. For details, refer to the User Manual.
FCC Statement
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates and can radiate radio frequency energy. - This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Note: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
FCC Regulations
Federal Communication Commission (FCC) requires that all radio communication products should meet the requirements set forth in the above standards before they can be marketed in the U.S, and the manufacturer shall post a RF label on the product to inform users of operational instructions, so as to enhance their occupational health against exposure to RF energy.
Operational Instructions and Training Guidelines
To ensure optimal performance and compliance with the occupational/controlled environment RF energy exposure limits in the above standards and guidelines, users should always adhere to the followings:

Antenna Installation
Install the antenna at least 50 cm away from your body, in accordance with the requirements of the antenna manufacturer/supplier.
This radio complies with IEEE and ICNIRP exposure limits for occupational/controlled RF exposure environment at operating duty factors of up to 50% and is authorized by the FCC for occupational use only.
