Procedure:

  1. Turn off the FLIR ONE Edge camera.
  2. Ensure the USB cable is disconnected.
  3. Press and hold the On/Off button until the LEDs show a steady light.
  4. The camera will restart after the factory reset.

Using the FLIR ONE App

Camera View

When connected, the FLIR ONE app displays a live view from the camera, allowing you to take images or record videos. The camera view offers:

  • IR Scale: Hide/show scale, adjust scale limits.
  • Color: Choose from nine color palettes.
  • Measurements: Adjustable measurement spots, with automatic tracking of the hottest and coldest spots.
  • Image mode: Select between Thermal, DC (visual), and MSX.
  • MSX Distance: Align visual and thermal images in MSX mode based on object distance.
  • Temperature range: Select a suitable object temperature range.

Calibration

The camera automatically calibrates and refreshes the image periodically for optimal performance. A mechanical shutter inside the thermal camera activates during calibration, producing a clicking sound and briefly freezing the image. Calibration occurs on startup and periodically thereafter. Manual calibration can also be initiated via the FLIR ONE app.

Gallery

Captured images and videos can be viewed in the FLIR ONE app's gallery. They can also be saved to your mobile device if permission is granted during setup or in app settings. Image details can be viewed, and notes can be added. Images can be edited within the app using the same functionality as in the camera view. Images and videos can be shared with other apps, such as social media.

Cloud Storage

FLIR Ignite is a cloud storage service for thermal images. It allows you to view, organize, search, download, and share your uploaded images. You can manually upload files from the FLIR ONE app gallery to your FLIR Ignite account or configure automatic uploads. You can choose to use mobile data for uploads. If this setting is off, you must disconnect the FLIR ONE app from the camera and pair it with a FLIR Ignite account before uploading. To create and access your FLIR Ignite account, visit https://ignite.flir.com.

Drawer Menu

The drawer menu provides access to:

  • Settings and account information for FLIR Ignite.
  • Information related to the camera.
  • Settings for the FLIR ONE app.
  • Help on how to use the app.
  • Contact information for support.
  • Information on other compatible apps for the FLIR ONE Edge camera.

Using a Thermal Camera

Measurements

Thermal cameras display the temperature on an object's surface. Measurement accuracy is influenced by factors such as distance from the object, ambient temperature, and the emissivity of the material. Learn more about the science of thermography at: https://www.flir.com/support-center/training.

Emissivity

Emissivity is a material property that affects displayed temperature readings. It is a relative rating of how well a material emits thermal energy. Some materials, like glossy metals, are poor emitters. For most materials, the default "matte" setting provides a fair approximation.

Cleaning the Camera

Camera Housing, Cables, and Other Items

Use warm water or a weak detergent solution with a soft cloth. Soak the cloth, wring out excess liquid, and clean the item. CAUTION: Do not apply solvents or similar liquids, as this can cause damage.

Infrared Lens

Use a commercial lens cleaning liquid with more than 30% isopropyl alcohol or 96% ethyl alcohol with cotton wool. Soak cotton wool, wring out excess liquid, and clean the lens gently once, then discard the cotton wool. CAUTION: The lens has a delicate anti-reflective coating that can be damaged by vigorous cleaning or unsuitable cloths.

WARNING: Ensure you read all applicable MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and warning labels on containers before using cleaning liquids, as they can be dangerous.

Disposal of Electronic Waste

Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) poses risks to human health and the environment if not disposed of properly. This product should not be discarded as unsorted waste but sent to separate collection facilities for recovery and recycling. More information is available from the relevant local authority.
