Battery Safety: To prevent fire or battery explosion, replace with the correct battery type. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions. Do not use batteries in extreme temperatures, if damaged, or if disposed of in fire or hot oven. Use only supplied rechargeable batteries or replacement batteries (model BT262661).

Cordless Telephone Precautions:

Pacemaker Precautions: Keep wireless telephones at least six inches from a pacemaker. Do not place the handset directly over the pacemaker. Use the handset on the ear opposite the pacemaker.

ECO mode: This power conserving technology reduces power consumption.

Answering Systems: For two-way recording, inform the other party that the call is being recorded to comply with federal or state regulations.

Installation

Telephone Base

Battery Installation

  1. Install the battery as shown.
  2. Charge your handset(s) before initial use. The CHARGE light on the handset is on during charging. A full charge takes 16 hours.

Handset Overview

The handset has the following features:

1. CHARGE light:
Indicates when the handset is charging.
2. CELL:
Press to make or answer a cell call. Press during a call to answer an incoming cell call with call waiting.
3. HOME/FLASH:
Press to make or answer a home call. Press during a call to answer an incoming home call with call waiting.
4. M1:
Press repeatedly to add or remove '1' for caller ID entries. Press and hold to set or dial voicemail.
5. TONE X/a>A:
Press to switch to tone dialing. Press while entering names to change case.
6. SPEAKER:
Press to make or answer a call using the speakerphone. Press to switch between speakerphone and handset.
7. MUTE/DELETE:
Mute the microphone during a call. Mute the ringer when ringing. Delete entries or digits.
8. VOLUME UP/DOWN:
Adjust listening volume or message playback volume.
9. MENU/SELECT:
Display the menu. Select items or save settings.
10. OFF/CANCEL:
Hang up a call. Cancel operations or exit menus. Press and hold to exit to idle mode.
11. QUIET#:
Mute the ringer temporarily. Erase missed call indicator. Access dialing options. Enter QUIET mode settings.
12. CALL BLOCK/VOICE:
Activate voice-controlled application. Block incoming calls.
13. REDIAL/PAUSE:
View last 10 dialed numbers. Insert a dialing pause.

Handset Display Icons:

Telephone Base Overview

1. Message window:
Indicates new answering system messages.
2. FIND HS:
Pages all handsets.
3. VOLUME UP/DOWN:
Adjust telephone base ringer volume or listening volume during call screening/message playback.
4. Controls (X, <<, >>, >>/||, >|/||):
Delete message, repeat message, play previous message, skip message, start/stop message playback, turn call screening on/off.
5. CELL 1 / CELL 2:
Connects to paired Bluetooth devices. Light indicates pairing status.
6. IN USE light:
Indicates handset or answering system activity.
7. ANS:
Turns the answering system on or off.

Initial Basic Settings

Date and Time

The handset will prompt to set the date and time upon installation or power restoration. To skip, press OFF/CANCEL.

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Set date/time > SELECT.
  2. Enter month (MM), day (DD), and year (YY) > SELECT.
  3. Enter hour (HH) and minute (MM).
  4. ▼/▲ > AM or PM > SELECT.

Voice Guide Setup

Follow the voice guide to set up Smart call blocker and the answering system.

Add a Bluetooth® Cell Phone/Headset

Pair and connect your Bluetooth device to the telephone base. Bluetooth technology operates within a 30-foot range; keep the device within 15 feet for optimal performance.

To pair and connect a cell phone using the telephone base:

  1. Press and hold CELL 1 or CELL 2 until the light flashes.
  2. Place the cell phone next to the base. Turn on Bluetooth on your cell phone and search for devices. Select your AT&T phone (AT&T DECT 6.0) and follow pairing instructions.

To pair and connect a headset using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Bluetooth > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Add BT headset > SELECT.
  3. Set your headset to discoverable mode > Press SELECT.

Record Your Own Announcement

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Answering sys > SELECT.
  2. SELECT to select Announcement.
  3. Press 7 to record.
  4. Speak towards the handset and press 5 to end recording and save.

Number of Rings

Set the answering system to answer after 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 rings. Toll saver option is available.

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Answering sys > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Ans sys setup > SELECT.
  3. ▼/▲ > # of rings > SELECT.
  4. ▼/▲ > choose 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or Toll saver > SELECT.

Ringer Volume

Set ringer volume for home or cell calls to one of six levels, or turn off.

Using a cordless handset:

LCD Language

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Settings > SELECT.
  2. SELECT again to select LCD language.
  3. ▼/▲ to choose English, Français, or Español > SELECT.

Note: If you accidentally change the language, press MENU in idle mode and enter *364# to reset to English.

Operate

Operation Steps
Making a home or cell call Press HOME/FLASH or /SPEAKER > Enter number.
Press CELL > Enter number > SELECT.
On-hook dialing (predialing) Enter number > Press HOME/FLASH, CELL, or /SPEAKER to call.
Answering a home or cell call Press HOME/FLASH, CELL, or /SPEAKER.
Ending a call Press OFF/CANCEL or return handset to base/charger.
Handset speakerphone During a call, press /SPEAKER to switch between speakerphone and handset.
Redial Press REDIAL repeatedly > Press HOME/FLASH, CELL, or /SPEAKER to call.
Volume control Using handset or base: Press VOLUME ▼ to decrease or VOLUME ▲ to increase volume.
Call waiting Press HOME/FLASH to put current call on hold and take new call. Press HOME/FLASH to switch between calls.

Phonebook

The phonebook can store up to 1,000 entries, shared by all system devices.

Operation Steps
Adding an entry 1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Phonebook > SELECT.
2. SELECT to select Add new entry.
3. Enter number (up to 30 digits) > SELECT.
4. Enter name (up to 15 characters) > SELECT.
Searching/dialing an entry 1. Press ▼/▲ in idle mode to select entry.
2. Press HOME/FLASH or /SPEAKER to call (home line).
OR Press CELL to call (cell line).
Adding a call log entry 1. CID > ▼/▲ > SELECT to select entry.
2. SELECT again to select To Phonebook.
3. Edit number if needed > SELECT.

Download a Cell Phone Phonebook

Ensure the cell phone is paired, active, and connected to your telephone.

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Bluetooth > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Phonebook download > SELECT.
  3. Press SELECT to start downloading.

Bluetooth

Connect to Cell™ App

Download the Connect to Cell™ app from Google Play® Store for extended functionality (Caller ID manager, Alerts manager). Scan the QR code to download.

Remote Voice Control

Activate your cell phone's voice-controlled application (Siri®, Google Now™, S Voice®) using the handset or base.

Compatibility: Works with iOS (8+) and Android (4+).

Before using:

To activate remote voice control:

  1. Press VOICE.
  2. If you have two connected cell phones, press ▼/▲ to select a device.
  3. Speak towards the handset and wait for feedback. Reply as needed.
  4. Press CANCEL to exit.

Note: If no cell phone is paired, pressing VOICE prompts "Pair cell first".

Caller ID

The telephone stores caller ID information for the last 50 incoming calls.

Review and Dial a Number in the Call Log

  1. Press CID in idle mode > ▼/▲ to scroll through the list.
  2. Press HOME/FLASH or /SPEAKER to dial (home line).
  3. Press CELL to dial (cell line).

Erase Missed Calls Indicator

When "XX Missed calls" is shown, scroll the call log or press and hold OFF/CANCEL in idle mode.

Smart Call Blocker

Use Smart call blocker to screen incoming calls if you subscribe to caller ID service. This feature applies only to incoming home calls.

Turn Smart Call Blocker On or Off

Smart call blocker is on by default. To turn it on or off:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Smart call blk > SELECT.
  2. Press SELECT to choose SCB On/Off.
  3. ▼/▲ > On or Off > SELECT.

Notes:

Call Controls

Call Category Call Handling / Set Profile Options
Welcome calls Numbers saved in allow list, phonebook, not in block list, or Caller ID names in star name list ring. All incoming cell calls ring.
Unwelcome calls Numbers saved in block list are rejected and do not ring.
Unknown calls (for home calls only) Options include: Screen unknown (ask caller for name), Screen robot (ask caller to press #), Allow unknown (default), Unknown to answering system, Block unknown (rejects call).

Add Numbers from Caller ID Log

Block the Caller While on a Call

During a call, press CALL BLOCK, then SELECT to end the call and add the number to the block list.

Unblock a Telephone Number

If a number is in the block list:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Smart call blk > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Block list > SELECT.
  3. Press SELECT > Review > ▼/▲ to browse entries.
  4. When the entry displays, press MUTE/DELETE.
  5. Press SELECT to confirm deletion.

Notes: Allow list stores up to 200 entries, block list up to 1,000, star name list up to 10.

Answering System

Your telephone has separate indicators for built-in answering system messages and telephone service provider voicemail.

Turn Answering System On or Off

The answering system must be on to answer and record messages.

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Answering sys > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Answer on/off > SELECT.
  3. ▼/▲ > On or Off > SELECT.

The handset shows ANS ON when the system is on.

Using the telephone base:

Press ANS to turn the answering system on or off. The system announces "Calls will be answered" or "Calls will not be answered.".

Message Alert Tone

When enabled, the telephone base beeps every 10 seconds if there is at least one new message.

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Answering sys > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Ans sys setup > SELECT.
  3. ▼/▲ > Msg alert tone > SELECT.
  4. ▼/▲ > On or Off > SELECT.

Call Screening

Hear incoming messages as they are recorded. You can answer the call by pressing HOME/FLASH on the handset.

Using a cordless handset:

  1. MENU > ▼/▲ > Answering sys > SELECT.
  2. ▼/▲ > Ans sys setup > SELECT.
  3. SELECT to select Call screening.
  4. ▼/▲ > On or Off > SELECT.

Message Playback

Using the telephone base: Press / when in idle mode.

Using a cordless handset: Press MENU then SELECT when in idle mode.

Do not use with Party Lines. Ensure alarm dialing equipment is not disabled. If malfunctioning, unplug from the modular jack. Replacement must be by the manufacturer or authorized agents.

If this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the service provider may temporarily discontinue service. You will be notified and given an opportunity to correct the problem.

This product is hearing aid compatible.

If using memory dialing, store emergency numbers and remain on the line to explain the reason for the call. Perform such activities during off-peak hours.

What does this limited warranty cover?

The manufacturer warrants the Product and accessories to be free from material defects in material and workmanship when installed and used normally, for consumers in the United States and Canada.

What will Advanced American Telephones do?

During the warranty period, Advanced American Telephones will replace a materially defective product, at their option, with a new or refurbished product. Replacement may take approximately 30 days.

How long is the limited warranty period?

One (1) YEAR from the date of purchase for most products. (SynJ® and Syn248® have a two-year warranty).

What is not covered?

The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, accident, improper installation, neglect, fire, water, unauthorized repair/alteration, signal conditions, non-AT&T accessories, removal of warranty stickers, use outside the US/Canada, commercial/institutional use, or missing proof of purchase.

How to get warranty service?

What must you return with the PRODUCT?

Return the entire original package and contents with a description of the malfunction, valid proof of purchase (sales receipt with product model and date), your name, mailing address, and telephone number.

This warranty is the complete agreement. No other warranties are provided. No one is authorized to make modifications. State/Provincial law rights may vary. Implied warranties are limited to one year. Advanced American Telephones is not liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or similar damages.
