Instruction Manual
Type: 104271
Product Overview
The Horizont Trapper N15 is an electric fencer designed for livestock management. This manual provides essential information for its installation, operation, and maintenance.
This document is available in multiple languages, including German (DE), English (EN), French (FR), Dutch (NL), Italian (IT), Spanish (ES), Danish (DA), and Swedish (SV).
Components and Diagrams
Figure 1: Spare Parts and Components
This diagram illustrates the internal and external components of the Trapper N15 electric fencer. It shows the main unit, power cord, circuit board, and casing, along with reference numbers for spare parts.
Figure 2: Connection Details
This figure demonstrates the connection process. It shows a tool, likely pliers, used for attaching wires to the fencer's terminals. The terminals are marked for earth connection (ground symbol ⏚) and fence connection (lightning symbol ⚡).
Figure 3: Installation Diagram
This schematic illustrates the typical setup for the Trapper N15. It depicts the fencer unit connected to a 230V power source, an earth stake driven into the ground, and a fence line. The diagram emphasizes the electrical connections and the importance of proper grounding for effective operation.
Installation and Connection
Mounting: The fencer unit must be mounted in a vertical position. It can be installed inside a building but should not be placed in areas with a fire risk. Ensure adequate clearance from the ground.
Connections:
- Connect the earth lead to the terminal marked with the earth symbol (⏚).
- Connect the fence lead to the terminal marked with the lightning symbol (⚡).
It is recommended to use high-voltage cables for connections.
Operation
Power Up: Plug the mains cable into a 230V supply socket.
Operation Confirmation: After a few seconds, a regular ticking sound indicates the unit is operational. The control lamp will flash in rhythm with the electric pulses.
Safety Warning: The power supply cable must not be touched when the ambient temperature is below 5°C.
Grounding
Proper grounding is essential for the faultless operation and optimal performance of the electric fencer.
- Location: Grounding should be performed in a moist and overgrown area.
- Earth Stake: Use a 1-meter long earth stake (e.g., 12mm diameter).
- Long Fences/Dry Soil: For long fences or dry soil conditions, it is necessary to use additional ground rods, placed approximately every 50 meters along the fence line.
- Separation: The system earth for the electric fence installation must be kept separate from the protective earth and operational earth of the mains supply. Maintain a minimum distance of 10 meters between them.
Service and Maintenance
Repairs should only be carried out by qualified service personnel. Use only replacement parts recommended by the manufacturer.
Technical Specifications
Weight: Approximately 0.9 kg.
Performance Data:
- Voltage vs. Distance/Resistance: The fencer's output voltage decreases with increasing fence length or resistance. For example, at 6500V, the effective range is 2 Watts; at 6000V, it's 0 km; at 2500V, it's 0.25 km with 1 MΩ resistance; at 2000V, it's 0.25 km with 500 Ω resistance; at 1000V, it's 5 km with 5 kΩ resistance; and at 1000V, it's 5 km with 500 Ω resistance.
- Maximum Fence Length: The maximum recommended fence length is 1.5 km.
