Information on disposal for users

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most packing materials are recyclable. Dispose of them through your local recycling depot.
  • To discard the product, contact your local authorities for the correct disposal method.
  • Air discharge must comply with local authority regulations.

General Warnings

Warning:

  • Read these warnings carefully before installing or using the appliance.
  • The appliance must be plugged into its own dedicated 220-240v, 50Hz AC electrical outlet.
  • Children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, may use the appliance if given supervision or instruction on safe use and understanding the hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.
  • This canopy rangehood is not recommended for barbecues and cannot be installed for external use.
  • Exhaust from the rangehood must not be discharged into any heating flue that carries combustion products from other sources (See Figure 1).
  • Exhaust air must not be discharged into a wall cavity unless the cavity is designed for this purpose.
  • Ensure adequate room ventilation when using the rangehood simultaneously with appliances burning gas or other fuels.
  • Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

Specific Safety Precautions

  • Always cover lit gas burners with pots or pans when the rangehood is in use.
  • Always switch off gas burners before removing pots or pans.
  • Do not leave lit gas burners exposed due to the risk of fire (See Figure 2).
  • The hood must always be disconnected from the electricity supply before any maintenance work.
  • Failure to install screws or fixing devices correctly may result in electrical hazards.

Figure 1: Illustrates incorrect exhaust discharge into a heating flue.

Figure 2: Illustrates the risk of fire from exposed lit gas burners.

Electrical Connection

Verify that the mains voltage matches the voltage on the data plate inside the rangehood. Ensure installation complies with local building, gas, and electrical authority standards. Before connecting to the mains supply, confirm the mains voltage corresponds to the rating plate voltage. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

Safety Warnings – For the Installer

  • When installing, adhere to the minimum and maximum distances from the cooker hood base to the hob surface (refer to Installation manual).
  • Exhaust flue installation: Follow these rules for optimal air extraction:
    • Keep the exhaust flue short and straight.
    • Do not reduce the size or restrict the exhaust flue. Minimize bends.
    • When using semi-rigid flue, install the duct with the helix pulled taut to minimize pressure loss.
  • Failure to observe these instructions will reduce performance and increase noise levels.
  • Exhaust air must not be discharged into a wall cavity unless designed for it.
  • Exhaust must not be discharged into a heating flue carrying combustion products from other sources.
  • Range hoods can affect the safe operation of gas appliances due to backflow of combustion gases, potentially causing carbon monoxide poisoning. After installation, have flued gas appliances tested by a competent person to ensure no backflow occurs.

Installation

Before installing, peel off any protective plastic covering.

Dimensions (in Millimetres)

Diagram B illustrates recommended working heights, flue mounting bracket locations, and telescopic flue cover fixing points. It specifies minimum and maximum distances for installation relative to the hob surface. For example, a minimum height of 670mm and maximum of 1215mm is indicated for the main unit, with specific clearances for electric (600mm min) and gas (620mm min) hobs.

Note: If hob instructions specify a greater distance than the minimum, that shall be the minimum height for installation.

Note: Some installations may require the telescopic flue to be cut to length using tin snips or a fine-tooth hack saw blade, taking care not to distort the flue. All wall holes are Ø6mm. The height of pan supports relative to the benchtop or floor will be detailed in the gas cooking appliance instructions.

Recommended Installation Mode

For External Exhaust Mode Installation:

  • Type 1 is recommended when the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the hood is less than 900 mm.
  • Type 2 is recommended when the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the hood is 900 mm or more.

Diagrams illustrate these two types of external exhaust installations based on ceiling height.

For Recirculation Mode Installation:

The distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the hood should be 880 mm or more (See image 3).

A diagram illustrates the recirculation installation setup.

To remount filters, follow the first two steps in reverse order. Repeat for all filters if applicable.

Replace the Carbon Filter

WARNING! The carbon filter is non-washable!

The time of saturation for the carbon filter varies based on cooking type and grease filter cleaning frequency.
