Opening the Headlight

Step 1: Heat the Housing to Open the Light.

If using a heat gun, heat the seal evenly while moving the gun constantly. If using an oven:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 225°F (or 100°C).
  • Center the light in the oven for even heating.
  • Set the timer for 10 minutes (gas or electric).

A) Using a flathead screwdriver ?, begin lifting the lens from the housing. Slowly work your way around the light several times.

B) The lens will eventually begin to part with the housing. Be gentle and take your time.

C) If the lens does not separate, re-heat the light for 5 minutes and try again.

⚠️ WARNING: HEADLIGHT WILL BE HOT! USE CAUTION WHEN HANDLING.

Install the Rings

A) Remove the 3M tape backing and fit the ring to the headlight housing.

B) Turn the headlight housing over and check the fitment from the back. Ensure the ring sits flush with the housing.

C) Optional: Apply additional adhesive to secure the ring in place on the housing.

Test the Rings

A) Test the rings using your vehicle's battery or a 12V drill battery:

  • Connect the RED wire to the positive terminal (➕).
  • Connect the BLACK wire to the negative terminal (➖).

B) It is recommended to test the rings before installation and again before sealing the lens to the headlight.

Route the Wires

A) To route the wires out of the headlight, use an existing ventilation hole:

  • Poke a small hole in the vent membrane material.
  • Pull the wire through the hole.

[Image Description: View from the back of the headlight showing the wire being routed through a ventilation hole.]

Reassembling the Headlight

  • Peel off any remaining factory gasket seal.
  • Ensure there is no dust or debris inside the headlight assembly.
  • Use compressed air to clean out the assembly before reassembly.

Re-sealing the Headlight

Recommended Sealant: GE brand "Silicone II" 100% silicone adhesive (available at hardware stores).

A) Apply a generous amount of silicone adhesive into the channel where the lens seals to the housing. Ensure an even bead of sealant is applied around the entire light.

Almost Done! Clamp the lens to the housing for the recommended time for the silicone to fully set. Refer to the sealant tube for specific cure times.

[Image Description: Clamps are shown holding the headlight lens and housing together while the sealant cures.]

Additional Sealant: If the seal is not completely watertight, you can apply a "wicking" silicone over the dried seal for extra protection.

Wiring the Headlights

Choose one of the following wiring options:

  1. Connect to Parking Lights: This option allows the halos to turn on and off with the factory headlight switch. The halos will remain on when the headlights are on.
  2. Wireless Controller: Visit AutomotiveLightStore.com/remotesandswitches.aspx to view available wireless controllers.
  3. Toggle Switch: For wiring diagrams and information, visit AutomotiveLightStore.com/halowiringfaq.aspx.
