Cordless Recipro Saw Safety Warnings
- Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces to avoid electric shock from hidden wires.
- Secure the workpiece with clamps or a stable platform; do not hold by hand or body.
- Always wear safety glasses or goggles. ?
- Avoid cutting nails; inspect and remove them before cutting.
- Do not cut oversize workpieces.
- Ensure clearance beyond the workpiece to prevent the blade from striking the floor or workbench.
- Hold the tool firmly.
- Ensure the blade is not contacting the workpiece before switching on.
- Keep hands away from moving parts.
- Do not leave the tool running unattended; operate only when hand-held.
- Switch off the tool and wait for the blade to stop completely before removing it from the workpiece.
- Do not touch the blade or workpiece immediately after operation as they may be hot.
- Do not operate the tool at no-load unnecessarily.

Important Safety Instructions for Battery Cartridge
- Read all instructions and markings on the charger, battery, and product before use.
- Do not disassemble the battery cartridge.
- If operating time becomes excessively shorter, stop immediately to prevent overheating, burns, or explosion.
- If electrolyte gets into eyes, rinse with clear water and seek medical attention immediately.
- Do not short-circuit the battery cartridge:
- Do not touch terminals with conductive material.
- Avoid storing with other metal objects (nails, coins).
- Do not expose to water or rain.
- A short circuit can cause high current, overheating, burns, or breakdown.
- Do not store the tool and battery cartridge in temperatures exceeding 50°C (122°F).
- Do not incinerate the battery cartridge, even if damaged; it can explode in a fire.
- Be careful not to drop or strike the battery.
- Do not use a damaged battery.
- Follow local regulations for battery disposal.
CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries. Using non-genuine or altered batteries may cause explosion, fire, injury, and damage, and will void the warranty.
Tips for Maintaining Maximum Battery Life
- Charge the battery before it is completely discharged. Stop operation and charge when tool power decreases.
- Never recharge a fully charged battery; overcharging shortens service life.
- Charge the battery at room temperature (10°C - 40°C / 50°F - 104°F). Let hot batteries cool before charging.
- Recharge if the battery is unused for more than six months.
Functional Description
CAUTION: Ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before any adjustment or check.
Installing or Removing Battery Cartridge
CAUTION: Always switch off the tool before installing or removing the battery. Hold the tool and battery firmly to prevent dropping and damage.

To remove: Slide the battery cartridge from the tool while pressing the button (2) on the front of the cartridge.
To install: Align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slide it in until it clicks. If the red indicator (1) on the button is visible, the battery is not fully locked.
CAUTION: Fully insert the battery until the red indicator is not visible to prevent accidental detachment and injury. Do not force the battery; if it doesn't slide easily, it's not aligned correctly.
Battery Protection System
Lithium-ion batteries with a star marking (⭐) have a protection system that automatically cuts off power to extend battery life. The tool stops if:
- Overloaded: Tool draws abnormally high current. Turn off the tool, stop the overload condition, then restart. If it doesn't start, the battery is overheated; let it cool before restarting.
- Low battery voltage: Battery capacity is too low. Remove and recharge the battery.
Indicating the Remaining Battery Capacity
(Only for battery cartridges with "B" at the end of the model number)

Press the check button (2) to display remaining capacity via indicator lamps (1).
Indicator Lamps:
- Lights On: 75% to 100%
- Lights On: 50% to 75%
- Lights On: 25% to 50%
- Lights On: 0% to 25% (Charge the battery. ?)
- Blinking: Possible battery malfunction.
NOTE: Indication may vary slightly based on usage conditions and ambient temperature.
Switch Action
CAUTION: Before inserting the battery, check that the switch trigger operates properly and returns to OFF. When not operating, depress the lock-off button (A) to lock the trigger.

The lock-off button (1) prevents accidental trigger pull. To start, depress the lock-off button from side B and pull the switch trigger. Speed increases with trigger pressure. Release trigger to stop. Always press the lock-off button from side A after use.
Assembly
CAUTION: Ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before performing any work.
Installing or Removing the Recipro Saw Blade
CAUTION: Clean blade and clamp area of chips/foreign matter to ensure proper tightening and prevent injury.
To install: Ensure the blade clamp lever (part of the blade clamp sleeve) is in the released position (✔) before inserting the blade. If it's in the fixed position, rotate the lever in the arrow direction to release it.

Insert the recipro saw blade into the blade clamp as far as it will go. The blade clamp sleeve rotates and secures the blade. Test by pulling to ensure it's fixed.

CAUTION: Insufficient insertion depth can cause the blade to be ejected unexpectedly during operation, which is extremely dangerous.
To remove: Rotate the blade clamp lever fully in the arrow direction. The blade is released, and the lever locks in the released position (✔).

CAUTION: Keep hands and fingers away from the lever during this operation to prevent injury.
NOTE: If the lever is not fully rotated for removal, it may not lock in the released position. Rotate it fully again to ensure it locks. If the lever is inside the tool, briefly switch the tool on to extend the blade, then remove the battery before blade removal/installation.
Operation
CAUTION: Always press the shoe firmly against the workpiece. If the shoe is not in contact, strong vibration or twisting can occur, leading to blade breakage.
CAUTION: Wear gloves to protect hands from hot chips when cutting metal. ?
CAUTION: Wear suitable eye protection conforming to national standards. ?
CAUTION: Use suitable coolant (cutting oil) when cutting metal to prevent premature blade wear.
Press the shoe firmly against the workpiece. Avoid bouncing. Bring the blade into light contact. Make a pilot groove at a slower speed, then increase speed for cutting.

Maintenance
CAUTION: Ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before performing inspection or maintenance.
NOTICE: Do not use gasoline, benzine, thinner, or alcohol, as they can cause discoloration, deformation, or cracks.
Replacing Carbon Brushes

Regularly check carbon brushes. Replace them when worn down to the limit mark (1). Keep brushes clean and sliding freely. Replace both brushes simultaneously with identical ones.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps.
- Remove worn brushes, insert new ones, and secure the caps.
