SAFETY WARNINGS FOR USE PATCHCORDS
The following list of safety warnings has been compiled in accordance with the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR). Its purpose is to protect users from potential hazards arising from the misuse of products. The warnings have been formulated in a simple and understandable way to be accessible to a wide audience, including the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
Patchcords offered by manufacturer NTEC sp. z o.o. are CE certified, which proves their compliance with EU safety standards.
Use the patchcords in accordance with their intended use and the manufacturer's recommendations.
BASIC HAZARDS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. Mechanical risks Damage to RJ45 (LAN) plugs or fibre optic connectors (e.g. LC, SC) during connection or disconnection, especially if excessive force is used. Pulling the cables over sharp edges or bending them excessively can lead to damage to the sheath and internal conductors.
2. Risk of overheating: Cables left in tight bundles, especially in areas with high network loads, can lead to localised heating. Excessive heat can reduce cable performance and cause insulation degradation.
3. Electrical risk: Never touch the connectors or patchcord with wet hands.
4. Risk of damage to insulation: Pulling cables over sharp edges or bending them repeatedly in the same place can lead to cracks in the insulation and exposed wires.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS ARISING FROM USE
5. Compatibility risks: Using cables of the wrong category (e.g. Cat 5e instead of Cat 6 for a LAN) or incompatible fibre optic standards (e.g. OM2 instead of OM4) can limit the throughput and range of the connection. Incorrectly matched connectors (e.g. different fibre types - single mode vs multimode) can cause signal loss. The use of optical fibres with different core diameters (e.g. 50 µm vs 62.5 µm) or different connector standards can cause mismatches and signal loss.
6. Tripping hazards: Loose cables on the floor can pose a risk of tripping and damaging both cables and connected equipment.
7. Signal quality risk: Damage to the internal cables or connectors may result in loss of data transmission quality or complete loss of connection. Contaminated connectors (e.g. dust on the optical fibre ends) can cause interference in signal transmission.
8. Risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI): The use of unshielded LAN cables (UTP) in environments with high levels of electromagnetic interference can result in a loss of signal quality.

Cables should be installed away from power cables and devices that generate strong interference.
MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS
9. Cleaning: Neglecting to clean the fibre optic connectors or RJ45 plugs can lead to interference with data transmission. Even minor dirt on the fibre optic ends can significantly affect signal quality. The joints must be cleaned regularly using special agents and tools.
10. Status check: Regularly check the quality of the patchcord connection to the sockets on the connected devices.
11. Storage: Storing cables in damp or dusty environments can lead to corrosion of connectors and deterioration of transmission quality. Winding cables too tightly can cause mechanical damage, especially to fibre optic cables.
ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
12. Child safety Keep patchcords out of the reach of children to prevent accidental damage
13. Avoid modifications Attempting to shorten or extend the cables yourself can lead to damage and void the warranty.
14. Action in the event of an emergency: If the product exhibits abnormal operation, such as unusual odour, appearance or sounds, stop using it immediately and contact the service department. If you observe any unsafe product behaviour, contact the manufacturer urgently.
THE IMPORTANCE OF COMPLYING WITH THE WARNINGS
Following the above warnings minimises the risk of personal injury, equipment failure and property damage. Ignoring the recommendations can lead to serious health and material risks. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe by observing the precautions indicated.
