6 Installing the refrigerator

6.1 Preparing the installation

When installing the refrigerator, note the following:

  • To ensure proper refrigerant circulation, the refrigerator must not be tilted more than 3°.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface using a spirit level.
  • The refrigerator must be installed for easy service access, de-installation, installation, and removal from the vehicle.

Ventilation Requirements

The distance between the refrigerator and the rear wall must be between 15 mm and 25 mm.

The refrigerator must be installed in a recess so that it stands firm when the vehicle is in motion. Note the following dimensions (H x W x D in mm):

  • RM5310: 618 x 486 x 474
  • RM5330: 821 x 486 x 474
  • RM5380: 821 x 486 x 474

Outer Wall Ventilation

The outer wall must be fitted with an air inlet vent and an outlet vent with ventilation grilles to release generated heat.

  • Air inlet vent: Fit the ventilation grille flush under the burner lid with a minimum cross-section of 250 cm².
  • Outlet vent: Fit above the refrigerator. A ventilation grille with an integrated flue duct can be used.

If the air inlet vent cannot be installed flush to the ground, an additional inlet vent must be provided in the floor for releasing leaked gas.

For RM 5380 and RM5385 refrigerators, an air inlet vent must always be installed in the floor.

Air vents must not be covered by vehicle parts or accessories during operation.

Ensure sufficient space at the back of the refrigerator for air circulation around the cooling element.

Fit a heat conduction plate above the refrigerator to prevent heat accumulation.

Install the refrigerator to protect it from excessive heat, which can lead to poor performance and increased power consumption.

Electrical and Gas Installation Standards

  • Electrical installation must comply with national and local regulations, including European standards EN 60335-1, EN 60335-2-24, EN 1648-1, and EN 1648-2.
  • Gas installation must comply with national and local regulations, including European standard EN 1949.
  • The refrigerator must be installed in a draught-proof location in accordance with EN 1949.

6.2 Installing the refrigerator in a draught-proof location

Gas-powered refrigerators must be installed in a draught-free location according to EN 1949. This ensures combustion air is not extracted from the interior and exhaust fumes do not enter the living space.

A suitable seal must be fitted between the rear panel of the refrigerator and the interior of the vehicle.

WARNING! Fire hazard! Do not use flammable materials like silicone sealants or foam for draught-proof installation.

The manufacturer recommends using a flexible seal for easier removal and installation for maintenance.

Attach sealing lips to a stop rail behind the refrigerator using an adhesive. Push the refrigerator against the stop rails with the sealing lips to seal the space behind it.

6.3 Creating the air vents

NOTE: At high ambient temperatures, optimum ventilation is crucial for maximum cooling capacity.

Create an air inlet vent and an air outlet vent in the outer wall with dimensions of 451 mm x 156 mm, observing the information in the "Preparing the installation" section.

If the air inlet vent cannot be installed flush with the floor of the niche, install an inlet vent in the floor behind the refrigerator near the gas burner with a diameter of at least 40 mm. The vent pipe must lead directly outside to allow leaking unburned gas to escape.

Shield the end of the opening with a deflector to prevent sludge or dirt from entering while driving.
